Is Coronavirus affecting your travel plans?

When were you supposed to go? Ours is April 19. There would have to be a pretty big turnaround at this point. Not making the final decision until the last possible minute.

A pretty big turnaround for the resort to stay open or for it to close?

March 31st --
My guesstimate is at least 2 months of mayhem before things start getting better.

Ours is international travel. Most flights to and from Israel have been suspended, 2 weeks mandatory quarantine for returning residents AND all medical personnel (both of us) not allowed to leave the country.

So... we cancelled. Forgive me while I go cry a little.

Big turnaround in slowing the spread of this virus for me to not cancel our April trip. I have already determined that Disney would stay open during an Ebola outbreak. :)

They are relying on people doing the right thing even if no one is watching.

I'm all for doing the right thing, but this is a totally nonsensical request. Distance from where you start has no bearing on the likelihood of transmission; number of cases where you go, how you get there, and how long you stay there, does.

We don’t know the exact circumstances to say whether it makes sense. Think of it as a broad self-quarantine within a 50 mile radius. (Imagine how the people who were quarantined because of just being exposed or actually catching the virus feel). Maybe the business leader does not want his or her employees coming back with a suspected case that could affect the whole business as we’ve seen all over.

Sorry, still a nonsensical standard. Does this person volunteer 2X weekly at a hospital 10 blocks away? That's relatively high risk. Is the person going to a music festival 20 miles away and staying all day? That's relatively high risk. Is the person driving alone to fish, alone, from a dock on a lake 75 miles away for 3 hours, then come home, still alone? Not high risk at all. Context matters a whole lot more than distance, at least until you start crossing national boundaries.

You all have valid points about the 50 miles, and I have had all those thoughts myself. I do think they're relying on the honor system.

It's not just Disney. Look at the NCAA they are going on with the tournaments for March Madness. In the 68 games under their control every game will be played with full crowds. MLB is full steam ahead unless stopped by the cities that control the stadiums. It's all about the money and you don't matter. Harsh words but put your big boy pants on, it's only going to get a lot worse. Down down 1200 points and stimulus package proposed by the White House is stalled in the House. House democrats don't like the payroll tax cut. This virus is real and sting measures must be taken for the health of everyone .
I wish I could say sports leagues would do so but they wont, Unless ordered by the govt.
Don't count on it. The NCAA is money hungry and not about to take a dime out of its pocket. Wait and see.
Probably should have waited a few more hours before posting.

Has not affected our travel plans YET but I would not be at all surprised if it does.

We are supposed to go to San Bernardino for a Winter Guard International Percussion competition next weekend (for my high school son) and a similar competition in New Jersey was just canceled by the Township where it was supposed to take place, so we are just waiting to see what happens. Other groups at his school are supposed to be at a similar competition in Las Vegas this coming weekend. The "parent" organization just canceled their national championships originally scheduled for Dayton, OH so it's not looking good.

Further out, we have a trip to Japan planned for November but it's too soon to know what we will end up doing with that.

We just cancelled our WDW spring break trip for next week.
I held off making a decision as long as I could and feel it just isn’t worth going if we are going to be stressed out the whole time.
It’s my DD’s last spring break before she graduates high school so she’s pretty sad since we were looking so forward to it! (And the sunshine!)

MLB is considering moving games or having teams stay at their Spring training locations. Not sure how that’s better than playing in empty stadiums, but I guess it at least keeps the team & staff out of major cities
