Is Chef mickey As Bad As..

It was not gourmet dining by any means but it was a good family place. Their was lots of character interaction and the dessert station rocks!

Well, if I had my way, we wouldn't eat there again.

We've done Chef Mickey's as our traditional "first Disney dinner" for our last 6 trips to WDW. I just think the restaurant is too loud & crazy and the food is only so-so. And even though we always had an ADR we waited and waited and waited to be seated.

After our dinner there last year I said I didn't want to do dinner there again but DH & DD (10) want to continue with the Chef Mickey's tradition. Hmm, maybe I can go upstairs and have a meal at California Grill while they twirl napkins with Mickey .....

We have a breafkast ADR for our first morning.

What do they serve for breakast? Can u you get breakfast cereals as well as cooked breakfast items? What about fruit?

I looked at a pic of tha breakfast lasagne, :scared1:  :lmao: no way im trying that, it looks disgusting!

We went once - our first meal when we got to Disney. We were seated in a room to the side so we weren't in the main dining area where everything seemed to happen. We still had characters visiting our table, but it looked like the diners in the main dining room were having a lot more fun! The food was so-so, but it is a buffet and that is what I've come to expect from Disney buffets.

We went for dinner on my birthday last year, it was terrible...even the 3 and 10 year old did not like the food. The only thing edible was the prime rib and mashed potatoes. The rolls were hard, the salad wilted, the soup way too salty and cold...the girls thought the chicken fingers were too hard and they were cold too. The pizza was dried out, the raviolis had too much sauce on them...

We had 5:30 reservations...the characters were great though!

Would not go back for dinner but do want to try breakfast.

This was our experience too, we tried 3 times over a 5 year span, the last being in January 07 and we are done trying it for dinner. We had 5:30pm reservations also

If I ever get a tag, it should read "Does NOT do buffets"

that said, I will be calling in a week or two for a reservation in May at Chef Mickey's. My youngest will be turning 8 while we are there, and she has requested a special birthday meal with Mickey. Breakfast seems a lot safer than dinner, and Chef Mickey's has items on the menu that my picky picky DD9 will eat, so Chef Mickey's it is. I will try to get something around 11am so it will count as our lunch.

Now I am scared after reading this thread. :scared1:

We have always did Chef Mickey's for dinner each trip. We love it! It's my kid's favorite restaurant. In fact, this trip, we are celebrating my son's 8th B-Day there.

Only difference is...we usually get there at opening at 5pm. All the food is hot and fresh. This time I could only get a reservation for 7:50pm. Now I worried the food will be picked over and cold by then.

My advice...if you are thinking of going...try to get an ADR for opening. Or as close to opening as possible.

I am going to keep calling Disney Dining Reservations for the next 5 weeks, to see if I can get an earlier ADR time.

If you have been there before and love it you will probably still like it. I don't think the time will make a difference. We have been there twice at opening and the kids food was overcooked (dried out) the other food offerings we didn't care for

We celebrated my dd's 5th b/day at Chef Mickey's in Aug 07. Atmosphere and character interaction A+ but the food was not good at all. I was very disappointed with the meal.

I have found Chef Mickey's breakfast to be much much better.:thumbsup2

We went for breakfast in June - somewhere around 7:30 or 8 a.m. The food was cold and not that pleasant to look at. However, they were cooking up fresh batches every 15 minutes or so. The chefs told me to hang out and they would give me some fresh eggs for my kids. They are pretty accomodating if you are unhappy. Still, in my own humble opinion, breakfast is breakfast. There is only so much you can do with eggs, bacon, pancakes. They sort of all taste exactly the same. We were not impressed with the character interaction. We were passed over a few times because there were particularly energetic little girls in front of us and to one side. They sort of "hogged" the character's attention. We will probably not return for breakfast. Some love it, some hate it, and most find it somewhere in between. It's worth a try though. There are plenty of our "must-do's" that other people do not like.

You are just very lucky to be going! I, personally, am jealous!!!

;)

One tip I've heard, to avoid having to wait past your reservation time, is by making one of the first reservations for the shift. I have heard that the later your ressie is for, the more likely you'll have to wait additional time past your ADR time.

Kind of like making dr appointments-

We've not been yet, but are going for our first nights dinner in January. I was fortunate enough to call last week and secure a 5pm reservation, so I hope that works in our favour. The reservationist I spoke to said that was the only early one left, everything else was "late late late", whatever that means.

The character meal is worth it....characters come around and we didn't have to wait....the food is a buffet and nothing to write home about...not even the dessert buffet that the kids were real excited to see.

My opinion:

You cannot judge the restaurant unless you try. People who are writing review is based on their personal experience only. I saw that somebody had bad experience during August, which is one of the busiest season. It may be the reason why the restaurant was not in ideal condition.

It also depends on personal preference. Some people think their prime rib was not good, but some people may like it. None of us are probably food critique. we are just posting our personal opinion based on each experience.

Good luck!

We just tried it for the first time earlier this month at dinner, and while the character interaction was great, the food and service were only decent.

I'd pick Crystal Palace every time over CM. We've eaten there every trip, and have never been disappointed.

Thank you for all the opions and responses we will just croos our fingers and hope all is well but unfortunately we got a later seating as well 7:20 so that makes me a little nervous but thats the earliest we could get. AGAIN THANKS:santa:
