Is Chef mickey As Bad As..

We actually prefer the Crystal Palace Breakfast better, but if you have never been to CM before and if you are interested in giving it a try, I say you should. I think CP has better food, but CM has great character interaction and a fun time. Everyone has different opinions and experiences, so I say give it a try at least once to judge for yourself. :goodvibes

We've gone to Chef Mickey's since it was at Downtown Disney, and have always been happy. We've never been passed over by the characters, and have been with groups as small as 3 and as large as 12. Everyone found something they liked...even with the group of 12!! Hopefully, your experience will be happy as well!!:tinker:

CM's for dinner used to be our first night tradition but the food selection has gotten smaller each time we've gone so we've decided to find a new tradition.

The menu posted didn't reflect the items on the buffet when we were last there in September - the only thing our night and that menu shared was prime rib, mashed potatoes and the ravioli (which makes me wonder if they slimmed down the menu for free dining). There were only 5 adult hot food selections the night we were there.

We've done breakfast once. It was fine. Not too memorable. Middle of the road for Disney.

We love Chef Mickey's we go every visit. It is DS8 Favorite. Last time we were there Oct 8 celebrating DS8 birthday Mickey put frosting from his cupcake on his face. Love the interaction and the food isn't bad either

We absolutely LOVE Chief Mickeys and have never had a bad meal there. We go there every trip. :cool1:

We always like the breakfast, but last visit we had lunch and it was terrible. It was the only meal we didn't like.

Is Chef Mickey as bad as what I have been hearing? I thought it was considered the best Character meal now I have booked in Dec and keep reading all these bad reviews and comments is it really that awful??

Everyone is entitled to everyone's opinions! :surfweb:

We were 5 from the ages of 18-54 and we enjoyed ourselves.

There was food for the youngster in me and the adult on my DH.

It was fun to watch the joy OR to know the screaming one was not ours!

The characters posed for photos with us too. Yes it was mayhem at 6:30-that was part of the fun.

It was May, so I can't remember all the entrees I scooped up-but all of them were the right temp. and tasted good to me.

Keep checking the menus on line. Ask people on the monorail - if it doesn't look good then you can always eat elsewhere.

Especially loved the toppings bar for the deserts-yumyumyum.

We went in mid August and enjoyed everything! The characters don't spend a lot of time though...just a quick autograph and photo. My son has food allergies and they were teriffic with him!

Chef Mickey's is awesome!! I've only eaten there for breakfast, but I consider it a dont miss!

If you do decide to cancel it, could you let me know? They're booked up every day i'm there and Its the only ADR I want! :D

Count us as guests who think it's very overrated - food is not good and character interaction leaves something to be desired. Although in all fairness to the characters, I have never seen such chaos at the fault of parents who let their children run amock like at Chef Mickey's. Kids were constantly interrupting and bugging the characters - running from across the room, as parents were trying to get their food. We were not impressed at all!

For our July ADR (that was made 6 months in advance) for hubby's birthday, we waited 45 mins. just to be seated, and then dinner dragged on. They messed up my hubby's birthday surprise - server started singing when my hubby wasn't at the table and Mickey refused to come over (the server wasn't sure what to make of that as it was our turn?). Anyway, it was very noisy, food was not that great at all, sundae machine was broken, it was messy, kids running all over, etc. We have eaten at almost every restaurant on property, so we absolutely know what to expect and what to compare to. That being said, my daughter wants to go again (we love the Contemporary), so we are going for breakfast next trip, as dinner just wasn't that great. Our friends who are DVC members like us, prefer breakfast as well.

Hopefully our breakfast experience will be better than our dinner, Tiger

We have went there every year we have gone and will go back again this year. My kids LOVE it there!!! We usually do the 5:00 adr and have no problem with waiting and the food is always hot.

Well though i can't speak for *now*, when I went three years ago, it was lots of fun, and the food was good. My kids want to go back next March when we. the only reason we didn't go on our last trip ( 2006 ) was that we managed to get CRT reservations for the first time for our group of 15!

I went in June, had an early reservation and had a 9 year old with us. The ham had more fat to it then ham. The cubed ham for the salad you couldn't chew let alone cut up if you wanted to. The rolls were hard as bricks. The pizza and chicken weren't hot. The mashed potatoes were okay. Also there for a good hour or more and never saw all the characters. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning next year. Also had a bad server so that didn't help.

If we are arriving late afternoon, we'll book the dinner at CM, that way the kids start of seeing the characters, and if you time it right, you can step outside on the patio (couple of benches) and catch the fireworks.

We've done the dinner and breakfast at CM, and although not gourmet, I thought the food was decent. We go more for the character's and atmosphere than the food....hope you have fun where ever you decide!

We ate there for dinner last week. As another person said, the food isn't anything to write home about, but it is tasty and plentiful.

Now, the character interraction was fantastic! Each character spent time at every table, not a "sign your book, pose for a photo and we're gone" we had a the Princess Storybook lunch. The characters don't care how young or old you are - they spend the same amount of time with everyone.

Our next trip we just may have to try a late breakfast here for a change. It was my kid's favorite meal of the week (although ours was Boma!).

P.S. The service was great, too! Our server was there whenever we needed her, especially when we wanted a family photo with one of the characters.

We go in Jan and always eat at but still experienced cold food, food that wasn't fresh (hard rolls), buffet gets very dirty very fast, floors and tables dirty, chaotic (many families ignore the request to wait your turn for characters), it was hard to get any decent pics of my family because other kids kept running up out of turn. We've gone for about 5 years and even my kids are now ready to give up on this dinner. If you go just for fun and really don't care about the food and think the chaos is party-like you'll be ok :) I think Chef M's is just so well known now that folks doing 1 character meal opt for this one and then just seem to let their kids go crazy having fun even if it involves throwing food around and chasing the characters. We eat a bunch of character meals and never have the same issues at other places.

We were there on Sunday for my Birthday. The food was pretty good and we were called to sit down before we even finished having our picture taken.
