Ticket Discounts vs Disney Math

We have a trip planned for September 19-26, with no tickets purchased yet. We always do 5 day park hoppers with no tickets for travel days and 1 pool/rest day in the middle. With the current 2 days free ticket offer we have a dilemma; the ticket offer ends Sept 15, but if we buy 6 day tickets (plus 2 free days) the tickets would last the entire length of our stay as they would need to be used by Sept 26; giving us the option to sneak in a little extra park time on arrival or the “rest day.” I have found tickets on a discount site (reliable site) in which the tickets would be cheaper doing this than a full price 5 day park hopper.

The issue is I am not sure I really want the extra days as it seems it would make the trip slightly busier, even with telling myself even if we don’t use the extra days we are still saving money, but how can you be at Disney with tickets and not use them 🤣.

I would rather have discounted tickets for our regular 5 day hoppers, but with the current end date this is not an option.

So do we go ahead and buy the 6 day tickets (8 day total) or do we not and gamble on another ticket off that includes our travel dates so we can save on our originally planned tickets?

Just get the 8 day ticket and see how you feel when you're there. If you don't use the days then you are still saving money, and if you feel up to using them then do so. Maybe you end up using 1 day on your scheduled pool day just to leisurely walk around MK in the evening and not even ride anything...or on arrival day to only go to Epcot and ride Guardians, or only go to AK and ride Pandora, etc etc. You don't need to make a park day a full day event.

I would not gamble on another ticket offer. Even if another offer came out (which I doubt would happen) it's very unlikely it would begin 4 days after the current offer ends to cover your dates. Save money on the 8 day ticket and be done in my opinion.

I have to smile and nod in agreement reading your post. Only a return guest knows about the dilemma of "do I do this, or do I do that" when it comes to choosing a "discount".

Run the numbers to find the real cost difference. Remember, you don't have to use all 6 days of the summer deal, or you could decide try another restaurant in HS or Epcot on the 6 day and call it an evening.

I have been where you are too and I will choose what I like best. Sometimes it's a deal and truthfully, sometimes I pass.

We bought a special 6-day ticket even though we will only use five days because it was cheaper than a 5 day ticket.

Great advice. We’ve done this a couple times when we saved by buying more days than planned. Sometimes we don’t use those extra days at all, and sometimes we just hit a park for a meal. In the end we still saved so on those occasions we didn’t use the days we were fine with it.

We decided we will buy the 8 day hopper ticket since it’s $66 cheaper than a standard 5 day park hopper, but not yet. Our biggest hesitation was what if they extend the dates valid for the discount and we don’t need the extra days to fulfill our entire trip. Then we could still save money. The booking deadline for this is Feb 15, which was hard to find, so we will see what happens as the deadline gets closer.

I get waiting because you’re not ready to pay out the cash but holding out for a Fall general public ticket deal is… bold.

Yeah I know it’s not a great idea 😆 I am really just hoping they extended the current one by 4 days. Highly unlikely, but could happen (probably not). The issue I would have is if they decide to end the deal earlier than the Feb 15 date currently. What’s life without a little excitement, stress, anxiety… whatever you want to call it🤪
