Really like BW and on resale far better deal than BLT. But is it worth it for 18 years less on the lease?

Thanks

If you want to stay in a standard view studio, especially during Food & Wine, buy BWV.

But, considering the added years, BLT is a much, much better deal.

Depends on if you are buying for a better deal or at a resort that you really enjoy? We bought for the enjoyment.

We just bought BCV with the same expiration date. It was worth it to us to get that 11 month booking head start. We are also a little older, so by the time it expires, my DH may have also. :)

We just got back from our first trip as DVC owners and stayed at the Boardwalk. I loved everything about it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy there.

But "if" I add on, it will probably be at BLT for those extra years.

It's really about which resort you prefer, I agree.

The feel and proximity of the two resorts are quite different -- BLT is modernist and near MK; Boardwalk is softer in theme and walks to Epcot. If you want F&W at Boardwalk, being a home resort owner there is practically essential.

I sometimes equate it to marriage: Do you want to be married 18 years longer to someone who is just ok, or live to the fullest for the time you have with your true love?

Well said ;-)

we bought bwv points last year and love it,for us it's where we want to stay usually the end of September which is really difficult to book at the seven month mark unless you want an odd day. If it's just about the money most people would advocate buying SSR points and then booking where you can at the seven month mark.

BLT poi ts are also a good deal for those without strong locational preference who don't mind roulette at 7 months. It is a good near-park value.

We bought BWV in 2014 for F&W trips. Tried to book a standard view studio at BWV for this Oct at 11 month window and didn't get it...2 days into the window it was already gone. But 1BR standard view was available for several weeks into the 11 month window. We also got standard view 1BR last Aug booking a few weeks into the 11 month window. They are tough to get and you do need to own at BWV for standard view...BUT, in my opinion, standard view at BWV is THE best DVC deal at WDW...THE BEST! Great location for low point cost. Rooms were recently renovated and are nice. We love all the dining options and the goings on at the boardwalk at night. Walking to Epcot and HS. It's really the best DVC purchase we've made (and we have also bought 1 OKW contract, 3 HHI contracts and 1 AKV contract). I am not too concerned with the expiration as I will be 69 in 2042. And we bought our BWV point direct...for way too much $$$.

We bought where we like to stay.
AKV-- with all the changes coming at this park.
We also are in the process of trying to buy BWV.
We wanted an Epcot resort.
We chose BWV over BCV because dh loves the boardwalk view.
If we had young children we would have probably bought a MK resort.

We stayed at BLT for 3 nights last week, and we just did not like how the rooms (studio) were situated. The floor plans looked good on paper, but the living area is very cramped, due to the way the kitchenette and bathroom are. My wife was putting on her makeup in the kitchen because the bathroom sink is in the same room as the toilet/shower.We felt like the wasted a lot of space making the room wider instead of longer, as well. Just a really weird setup for us.

I think it really depends a lot on your age. Just bought BW last year, and am in ROFL for Wilderness Lodge (or whatever the new name is) for my MK resort. Both expire in 2042....but, I'll be 83 in 2042....if I'm still interested in visiting every year (that would be so awesome) , I'll buy new points and leave 'em to the kids...

One thing to consider is the points per night in the new resorts.

Age is important. I'll be 82 in 2042, so the additional years don't mean much.

If I think forward, I think it is going to get more and more difficult to get reservations at BWV/BCV as a non-owner as you move closer to the end dates - year round, not just the last quarter - because the contracts that have turned over in the past several years, and the ones that turn over in the future, are being sold to people willing to pay a premium for fewer years - which means they are probably going to want to stay there.

Buy where you can A) afford it and B) won't mind staying. If you are going to be disappointed when you can't get BWV, then its worth owning there. If you are the type of person who says "we will be thrilled when we can get it, but we really don't care as long as we are at Disney" - buy SSR.

We bought BCV because we spend several hours every day at SAB. Staying elsewhere wasn't even a second thought. I'll wait until 2042 to worry about what to do next and will enjoy the huge sand bottom pool for the next 26 years in the mean time. :)

I thought of buying BCV for SAB but dh pointed out that we rarely use the pool when we go to WDW ..because we prefer to go in the cooler months.
Living in Texas we rarely use our pool from Nov to May.
Still it was a tough call because we love both BCV and BW.
We buy where we want to stay. I got AKV....hopefully we will get a contract that passes ROFR for BW. Then if ever we decide on a third contract it would definitely be BCV. Those are our 3 favorite resorts.
I guess I am a Polygamist... °0°
