Is Brazil closed?

Nope, it is it's own language, spoken in Portugal and Brazil and I'm sure other places as well. It sounds different than Spanish(not as melodious, it can almost sound harsh to the ear) and while there are some similarities, there are many differences as well.

Thank you for the information...I was misinformed about that:thumbsup2

Several people got their liberal panties in a twist because many people here happen to have a problem with these tour groups, not because they are Brazilian, but because they are spoiled brats who have little concern for those around them. If you are a guest in this country, then behave appropriately.

Hey don't lump all us Liberals in the same boat! :thumbsup2

I totally agree with you. If they were huge groups of Florida teens I'd be just as annoyed by them.

They are still there, but I avoided them at WDW. They were at Sea World on Monday. Two girls slipped under the rope to join the food line with friends. I looked at them and said 'the lines back there' (this was a very long line) they left. A little later, the two girls and ADULT in front of me repeated my comment, in a sarcastic tone.

Just wanted to add my .02 worth. As you can see by my signature I was a deep water life guard at Blizzard Beach and there screwing off and not following directions can really be a huge problem, like as injuries or drownings. Anyhow, the groups drove us crazy as CMs and our Manager at the time gave us good support in controlling the groups here is a taste of what I did.

They would be pushing, not following slide rules, or hanging on the rope at the wave pool, and we'd yell at them to stop this, stop that, they would always give us the we don't speak English line... well, I'd wait a minute and say I'm sorry sir/mama you dropped $20.00 and they would ALWAYS turn around and look, that is when I say you speak English and you can either follow my directions or I'll follow you out of the park, now stop doing xyz or get to the back of the line, or I can always help you leave. Like I said our Manager was good back in 1995 and allowed us to kick them out, and we did.

I leave in 2 weeks and I really hope they are gone, I haven't been there in the summer since 1997 when I was there for my honeymoon and this is my 10yr anniversary trip I don't want to see them again.

Hang in there and stick your ground.

I called and left the gentleman in the WDW Executive Offices a message today, but it was pretty late in the day. The number he gave me in my e-mail was his direct number! I lovingly reminded him that I am the DVC member and Annual Passholder that called him about an issue many folks are concerned about. I am anticipating a call from him most likely on Monday.

I hate to be skeptical, but...
Disney knows they will not lose our business - let's be honest. If they get serious about this (e.g. actually routinely kick out these groups for their behavior) they will lose at least some of their business, though. This is ultimately about business and bottom lines, and while I didn't read every single post in this thread, I doubt anyone is canceling their future WDW trips after hearing about or even dealing with these groups (Brazilians, cheerleaders or whomever). Rescheduling, maybe, but not canceling. Not surprising that not much is done about this. :sad2:

I was at Disney World yesterday, and there was a huge group of Brazilian kids all wearing matching yellow outfits. I didn´t see any of them being rude, and they certainly didn´t interfer with my enjoyment. There was another huge group from Argentina staying at my hotel, and again they weren´t bothering anyone. Maybe some people are annoyed with how many kids are in these groups, and the fact that they all seem to wear matching shirts identifying their tour group makes it very obvious that they are together. The large family groups from the US were the ones I saw saving places in line and blocking pathways.

Actually, they DO lose business. I am a local and an AP holder, as are many of my friends and neighbors. We normally go to the parks regularly and drop money on food, drinks, and sometimes even souvenirs. But with the BTGs, we have drastically cut down the number of visits. It's just not worth the aggrevation.

If Disney won't do anything about obnoxious groups in general, I guess I could live with anything but the line cutting prevalent among the Brazilians, (and the cheerleaders practicing below my hotel window at 6 am.) Anyone know how to say, "Your friends may not cut in line" in Portuguese? If I go to WDW in July I think I'll carry that translated phrase around in a pocket and pull it out as needed.

Immediately after posting this, I went to a translation website. I don't know how accurate this is (any Portuguese speakers out there?), but for what it's worth, here is the translation to "Your friends may not cut in line.":

"Seus amigos não podem cortar em linha."

OMG!
We went to the MK the other day and while boarding the tram my mom ran to this empty row and I started to walk to it. This hispanic man ran to the seat and pushed my mom out of the tram!

We found two seats later but still,he pushed my mom out of the tram!

Then, when we got to the monorail; Parts of a brazilian tour group came and almost pushed there way infront of my mom and I and a lady with her child.

& the last thing was we were eating at Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe and a mom and her child were eating and when they were done they just got up and left there tray full of food on the counter.

But they were sitting right next to the garbage can!

My mom and I both agreed we are not coming back to Disney during the summer.:sad2:

I HATE HATE HATE those massive tour groups as much as every other Diser, but to be fair, in european countries you don't clean up after yourself usually. I first found this out when I took my Austrian cousin to the mall and he was looking at me funny when I picked up my try, and I was looking at him funny when he left in on the table. Then when I was living in Europe I adjusted to the practice. (Try walking around the Louve cafe looking for a trash can) So while they should have took the time to learn little bits like that, it may have been what they're used to, not them being rude.

But I wouldn't be against disney posting big signs with pictures of people throwing their trash away around the dinning rooms.

Wow, this thread is still open! I'm impressed. Add me to the list of folks who will never visit in July again. Yes, I belong to the "been there, done that crowd". Had my first hand account of this obnoxious behavior and find it horrible. But have to say, most CM's find it equally bad and can't do anything about it. All they can do at the front desk is listen to us complain. The only way I would ever go in July would be if it was free and I stayed at the resort and avoided the parks. I don't care where they are from, but do agree with the post that these young people are spoiled brats and are not good ambassdors for their home countries. Nothing we can do about it, but will say, they make our pop warner kids look like angels (which I'm sure some actually are).

I have several funny Brazilian tour group stories, all can be found in my recent TR.

At Illuminations, we were completely surrounded by Brazilians, and my dad answers his cell phone in English. A lady in front of us turns around, shocked, and says, "English? It's like we're the foreigners here." :lmao:

In the Single Rider line (yes, that's correct) for RnRC, There was a large tour group and several others in the stand-by line. They would start shouting their cheers at each the other groups as to out do them. After a while all you could hear was Portuguese. The CM's had to come in and calm them down.

Waiting for Fantasmic, they were doing it again. "The Battle of Brazil" I called it, as their chants grew louder, trying to "beat" the other tour groups. Several people around us were getting fed up with it too, and one man, of a newly wed couple, right behind us said, "Next time I go to Brazil, I'll shout, 'USA!' at the top of my lungs and I'll wave an American flag in the middle of the streets." :rotfl:

Excuse me, but I'm not the one who brought up Native American history on a thread about obnoxious BTG's. That was what made me think that the PC patrol was alive and well. Besides being off topic, the post I was referring to basically called the person disrespectful when they made an honest mistake..This is a hallmark of the ultra-sensitive, "nitpicky" PC people. I stand by what I posted, and apparently, I wasn't alone in feeling that that post was a little harsh. Several people got their liberal panties in a twist because many people here happen to have a problem with these tour groups, not because they are Brazilian, but because they are spoiled brats who have little concern for those around them. Thanks for clearing that up...........it's not okay to post something that YOU consider "off-topic," but it's fine for you to then comment on it? By the tone of this reply, I'd say you're the one who is being ultra-sensitive. And by the way, you can keep your obnoxious labels to yourself; stereotyping like that based on seeing a post or two from a person is dangerous.

We honeymooned at WDW in 1998. Middle of July. Tons of Brazilian tour groups. We still go to WDW every Summer but never in July again. It's August for us now because of these tour groups.

My husband and I went to La Nouba the other night, and the Brazilians were all sitting in a huge group in front of the theater, where we had to literally step over and around them to get to the building. They were doing this in the shopping malls too...sitting in huge groups in the middle of the floor so that you can't get around them without feeling like you're walking through a mine field. Hubby (who isn't shy) yelled out "GET UP!!!"

I posted at the beginning of this thread that, I too, spent a week dealing with these massive Brazilian tour groups in July, and, like many other posters, will not go again in July. Nothing can be done about it? I am not sure I agree about that. Our school district takes a senior class trip to WDW in March every year. We have rules about chaperone-student ratios so that we are not sending unsupervised hoards of students into parks. If WDW cared about every guest more and huge tour groups less, they could require better chaperoning of underage visitors, especially where there may be language barriers and these youngsters may not understand all English directions being given to them. I

Count me as another who thinks WDW is turning their loyal guests away because they cannot control the tour group situation.

They've created a monster and have let the 'magic' be pushed aside by the 'rudeness'.

. . . they would always give us the we don't speak English line... well, I'd wait a minute and say I'm sorry sir/mama you dropped $20.00 and they would ALWAYS turn around and look, that is when I say you speak English and you can either follow my directions or I'll follow you out of the park, now stop doing xyz or get to the back of the line, or I can always help you leave.

Oh this is CLASSIC! :rotfl2: You rock!

I am keeping this one in my hip pocket! Thanks for the great tip! :thumbsup2
