my wife and i are planning on our 6th trip this summer. trying to decide on where to stay. is the BC worth the extra money or would we be just as happy at a moderate maybe? looking for reason to pick BC or move down some and save some $. any ideas or recommendations would be great. right now stormalong bay is a big factor in our interest.
thanks,

To me it is worth it! Especially since they have redone the decor at the BC, it is gorgeous!!!!!!
The good thing about you staying at the BC in the summer, is that the summer is value season for the deluxe resorts (after July 4th) you can get a standard view room at the BC for under $200 a night, with the discounts! :)

It depends on what your vacation budget is and what you are looking for from your vacation. If staying at the BC is going to streach your vacation budget or cause you to feel as if "you have to get your money's worth". Then do not spend the extra money and stay at a moderate.

If the price difference is not going to cause stress on your vacation budget then go for the deluxe. The BC has a great main pool, is walking distance to EC and MGM. There are great places to eat in walking distance over at the BW and you can rent watercraft right out back of YC/BC.

It really comes down to your vacation budget and what you are looking to get our of this vacation. No matter which resort level you end up at you are at WDW. I am sure you will have a great time.

If budget allows...it is worth it. You can walk to Epcot and MGM. You are right across from the Boardwalk and all it's offerings, and have access to all the restaurants at both the Yacht and Beach Club. Also, Stormalong Bay can't be beat! If you can afford it...go for it.

NO!!! Go go to another resort!!! Try the allstars!!
I hate the Beach and Yacht for that matter!!!
Hey I dont want everyone to love this resort too!!:teeth:

I'd say the Beach Club is definitely worth the extra $$, but I would definitely reccommend getting a water view room with a balcony - the atmosphere is amazing, best pool in Disney, and Location can't be beat.

I stayed BCV over NYE and really liked it. I've also stayed at BWV, VWL, the Polynesian and the Contemporary in 2002. In previous years I have stayed at All Star Music, All Star Sports, Old Key West and CBR. I have been around ;).

I think the biggest advantage to the BC is SAB. Do you have kids? How many? What are their ages? Will they really, really, really dig SAB over a moderate resort pool? The moderates also have very nice pools with slides and hot tubs. I Granted, SAB is the best pool on Disney property (IMO), but for most kids a nice pool with a slide is just as much fun. Heck, water is fun enough for a lot of kids :). Are you planning on going to the water parks? Your kids might get their extra-cool pool time there instead.

Other advantages of the BC are:

(1) Balconies
I like having one, but I really rarely use it. If you're a commando type (early out the door, late back home) you won't either. Plus, some of the cheaper rooms at the BC have tiny "micro balconies" with no chairs that only 2 (very cozy) people can stand on.

(2) Walking distance to Epcot
If you like to go to Epcot, then this is a big advantage. It's a quick stroll to Epcot and a "Disney two-step" 20 minute walk to MGM Studios. Boats will also take you to both parks. You really feel like you're in the middle of things and it's pretty cool.

(3) Walking distance to the Boardwalk
The Boardwalk area has a nice variety of restaurants in addition to the restauants in the BC, the YC and the Swan and Dolphin.

The advantages of a Moderate are:

(1) Price. You will probably pay 50% less for a Moderate. You can usually get a Moderate for under $100 per night. You can rarely get the BC for under $200 per night. You can eat a lot, play a lot and buy a lot with $100 extra per night.

(2) Food Courts. I love food courts. You can get anything from hamburgers to chicken strips to pasta to steak and everything inbetween at a Moderate food court. Plus, you can refill your mug at any time. I find the lack of "fast food" type places very annoying at the Epcot resorts. The Polynesian and the Contemporary both have quick food places that are open 24 hours a day (where you can also refill your mug). BC, YC and BW have no such place. The Dolphin does if you get really hungry, but you'll need to walk off your own resort. Otherwise, you are stuck with expensive "slow" food whenever you are at "home".

if price is really no object then go with the BC ... it really is a nice place. If you're having a bit of sticker shock then I don't think a Deluxe resort is "worth it" if you don't spend time at the resort. If you're on the go a lot, the moderates will be a better option for you.

HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THESE OTHER RESORTS, THE
WILDERNESS LODGE AND THE ANIMAL KINDOM LODGE?
WE HAVE STAYED AT BOTH OF THEM AND LOVED THEM.
THANKS,
MIKEWDW

All excellent advice! On our first WDW trip we were staying at the WL and had dinner over at the Y&B and fell in love with the pool and after that I was dying to stay there. So the next trip we tried to get reservations there but were only able to get part of our stay so we split our stay at the Beach Club with POR (then called Dixie Landings). We stayed at POR first and then checked into the BC. The location WAS great and it was my favorite part of staying there - just walking to Epcot through the Intl' Gateway. Our room didn't impress me and SOB was crowded, crowded, crowded, and it wasn't even peak season nor were the BC Villas there yet which I'm sure has added to the crowding some. It was hard to find a single lawn chair never mind more than 1 and the kids had to wait in long lines for the slide. We love the Yachtsman Steakhouse and Beaches and Cream and grab a burger there every trip no matter where we are staying. Beach Club lovers don't be upset because I DO think it's a fine resort BUT in our experience we weren't in the room long enough or because of the crowding at SOB, there long enough to justify what we paid for a room vs. what we did at POR. Just MY 2 cents!

They regularly check room IDs at SAB now because so many people feel like they don't really have to stay at the YC/BC/BCV to use the pool. You are issued a wrist band during summer months. No wrist band, no use of the pool.

I think it's worth it...but I like YC better;)

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!!!!!!!! We could leave our room at BC and be inside Epcot in 5 minutes!!

Stormalong Bay is fabulous! I even went down the slide.:p

Great restaurants are so close. All of the Epcot restaurants, Cape May, Beaches & Cream and Boardwalk.

I hope my post wasn't misleading. When I said we "fell in love with the pool" while visiting the BC for dinner we admired it from looking at it - not swimming in it. We only swam there when we were staying there. Just wanted to clarify.

Very worth it - Our favorite resort so far (have done FWC, WL, Polynesian,CSR,Dolphin & AS-Sp)
Location alone is enough to sell you, but the atmosphere, amenities, Cast Member helpfulness,SAB - is enough to make you want to go again & again & again........
Great rates are usually available in late summer....for all deluxe resorts...
