I stayed BCV over NYE and really liked it. I've also stayed at BWV, VWL, the Polynesian and the Contemporary in 2002. In previous years I have stayed at All Star Music, All Star Sports, Old Key West and CBR. I have been around

.
I think the biggest advantage to the BC is SAB. Do you have kids? How many? What are their ages? Will they really, really, really dig SAB over a moderate resort pool? The moderates also have very nice pools with slides and hot tubs. I Granted, SAB is the best pool on Disney property (IMO), but for most kids a nice pool with a slide is just as much fun. Heck, water is fun enough for a lot of kids

. Are you planning on going to the water parks? Your kids might get their extra-cool pool time there instead.
Other advantages of the BC are:
(1) Balconies
I like having one, but I really rarely use it. If you're a commando type (early out the door, late back home) you won't either. Plus, some of the cheaper rooms at the BC have tiny "micro balconies" with no chairs that only 2 (very cozy) people can stand on.
(2) Walking distance to Epcot
If you like to go to Epcot, then this is a big advantage. It's a quick stroll to Epcot and a "Disney two-step" 20 minute walk to MGM Studios. Boats will also take you to both parks. You really feel like you're in the middle of things and it's pretty cool.
(3) Walking distance to the Boardwalk
The Boardwalk area has a nice variety of restaurants in addition to the restauants in the BC, the YC and the Swan and Dolphin.
The advantages of a Moderate are:
(1) Price. You will probably pay 50% less for a Moderate. You can usually get a Moderate for under $100 per night. You can rarely get the BC for under $200 per night. You can eat a lot, play a lot and buy a lot with $100 extra
per night.
(2) Food Courts. I love food courts. You can get anything from hamburgers to chicken strips to pasta to steak and everything inbetween at a Moderate food court. Plus, you can refill your mug at any time. I find the lack of "fast food" type places very annoying at the Epcot resorts. The Polynesian and the Contemporary both have quick food places that are open 24 hours a day (where you can also refill your mug). BC, YC and BW have no such place. The Dolphin does if you get really hungry, but you'll need to walk off your own resort. Otherwise, you are stuck with expensive "slow" food whenever you are at "home".
if price is really no object then go with the BC ... it really is a nice place. If you're having a bit of sticker shock then I don't think a Deluxe resort is "worth it" if you don't spend time at the resort. If you're on the go a lot, the moderates will be a better option for you.
