Is attendance really growing?

Are they pricing them out? Or simply raising the bar for the wanted clientele?

Well...that's the bet they're hedging.

But it's really not a hedge because Iger will be gone and if the leftovers sense trouble they'll bail and get a high priced exec job somewhere else based on the credit of the Disney name/brand.

I don't see this burgeoning "luxury" or "exclusive" market taking shape for aging themeparks the way they do...

And the theory only works if there's NEVER an economic slide again...hedge that one?

Yeah, once you raise the prices.....it's kind of hard to re-neg on them, and back off.

Where WDW used to be a vacation spot for a couple of days, now it's a destination, so I kind of understand the pricing.....

If you add up the attendance in FL parks it's 72.3 Million people. That just an incredible number of people. Just how many more people are there out there?? I think FL just peak out, yes you are going to get a few more people each year. But I cannot see any major increases in the future

That doesn't mean that 72.3 million individual people came to the parks. If take a six day vacation and visit all four WDW and both Uni parks, that would be 6 park admissions all for the same person. Or if your a local AP and visit the parks 20 times in a year, that's 20 entries for only one person.

Isn't it pretty simple to see why the numbers are what they are. Take an average guest getting a 4-7 day park hopper. A 7 day is probably doing 1 day at AK, EP, HS...3-4 days at MK. There simply isnt enough to do at the other parks. Epcot is probably more frequently visited due to the dinner rush. So I would say its attendance is understated. At the same time, a lot of people that begin their day at HS or AK probably end their day with fireworks at MK, so that could be understated as well.

What would concern me about the Epcot number is they have to get quite a bit of annual pass dinner guest/wine festival night guest. This could easily inflate that number.

I don't understand what the first responders in this thread are looking at ??? They seem to be suggesting a healthy increase in attendance ???

Its right there on the chart, and in the comments:

Magic Kingdom attendance is up ... something like 10% from 1991 ... 1991 !!! like 25 years, 10% increase, thats nothing.
Epcot down significantly
Hollywood Studios is Flat since 1997

Where is this awesome growth in crowds ?

I think I can clarify for you. This thread was moved from the TPAS forum over here. The first responders are regulars on that forum and responded prior to the thread being moved. I'm sure you would have seen more of those types of posts if it hadn't been moved.
