I know the movie has fans and was more than a financial success but is that fan base big enough to warrant a new land? I am sure it will do well in the beginning as most of us would love to see any new attractions but I am afraid after a while it will seem dated like The Great Movie Ride. It doesn’t seem to have the fan base and staying power of a Star Wars or Harry Potter and has yet to prove itself as powerful franchise.

You're probably better of not having seen the sequels.I won't watch the movies. It just isn't my genre.
I do look forward to the land and new attractions. Can't say I am jumping up and down for joy. But I don't do that for any Disney project anyway.
There are rides that are popular at Disney without a movie fan base. Splash is one. Space Mountain is another.
It isn't the movie that will sell it, it is the overall theming that folks will judge.
As an example--I like the Jurassic Park ride at IOA. Enjoyed it before this current sequel was ever really announced let alone produced. Some might consider it to be dates. Maybe. And I do not like the Jurassic park movies. Saw the first and no desire to see any more. I had no idea there were other sequels before the current blockbuster.
