Is anyone getting as turned off as I am?

Before +, less than 1/2 of Disney guests used FP at all. They didn't pick burger, fries or coke.

If the small number who were picking burger, fries, coke, pie, shake, salad are now limited to burger, fries and coke, and availability has gone down, it's because those who chose nothing before are choosing something now.

I'm hungry.
sorry but fast pass grumpys are lame…my fast passes worked fine…everything available…changes easy as pie….extra fast passes a plenty..most of the time i didn't use em at all..walk on..5 minute stand by…and if you are nice and pleasant they are giving them away.. DVC tour gave me three free bees…The poly gave me free bees…One ride closed and WDW gave me freebees for anything during my stay..poked into guest services and she gave me a freebee for being nice.. I just do not get the grumpy FP haters,,,its a no brainer and no one is making you plan 100 days ahead…plan from your room 5 minutes before…save the walk across the park. Duh.

You went early September. Of course everything was awesome. That was the single biggest factor of your successful trip, I wish I could go then.

Just go! Make an excuse. Lie. whats the worst that can happen? You could die tomorrow!

You go at one of the slowest times of the year and don't understand what the fuss is about? Why don't you see how great your experience is during a busier time of year? As you said, you didn't need FP's. Changes were "Easy as Pie" since there was virtually no competition.

At this moment that resort isn't worth the $200 a night you are paying. After the renovations are complete, you are going to have to re-configure that secret handshake. That rate is temporary due to a GREATLY diminished experience. Who wants to spend $200 a night to stay in a construction zone with no main pool?
NO it is not temporary . Wrong. the 2015 rate is $199 bucks thank you very much. August 15 to september 15…and by the way I was just there and with all the construction I had a lovely stay. Every single moment a joy. Pllllllll.

I forget, do you have kids? It's not always easy to pull them out of school depending on the situation.

But yes, we could all die tomorrow, HEADING TO THE AIRPORT NOW :)

Legacy peak season was harder than legacy slow, too. I'm comparing + to legacy for ease of use.

Pulling a legacy FP and returning to redeem it was easy, as an isolated event. It was also easy for those who were familiar with the parks and could effectively adjust to a return time of 50 minutes, 1:20 and 3:10, even if a meal fell between, as part of an overall strategy.

Those less familiar found that difficult, compared to having the return times preset and more importantly, known ahead of time where lack of familiarity could be compensated for.

If you are smart you can stay at The Polynesian for $189 a night in a beautiful room facing the water. Club level is a waste. Bring your own goldfish crackers and bud wiser and save $500a night. The new 2015 rate is $199 a night for those who know how to get it. Mid August to mid September. And you don't need to give Disney 10 years of vacation money up front.

I would love to know your secret to staying at the Polynesian for $189/night. I couldn't get that rate 8 years ago with my friend's CM discount. Maybe it was the time of year which was about the second week of August. If true about the current club offerings, I agree that $500 is overpriced for goldfish and Bud. There used to be much more of a variety of food offerings as well as great amenities. I appreciate that DVC is not for everyone, however, it was a great investment for our Disney vacations. It paid itself off in less than 5 years. Based on our vacation patterns, we can now stay at least a total of 13 nights a year for less than $1000 in maintenance fees. Again, I know that this may not be everyone's experience. Until recently, our only regret was that we didn't buy it sooner.

Lie? That doesn't come easy to me. After this post, I now question the $189 rate. Please tell me it was just a poor choice of words.

Best rate I have gotten for Poly in the last 5 years was $220.00 a night...and it wasn't a water view! Please share your secrets!

I just stayed at the Poly for 10 days at that rate. PM me and I'll give you the contact.

I was talking to Tim123 about his recent trip. I'm glad you think FP+ is easy and fabulous, I don't. I think legacy FP was easy. Regardless of what you say you are not going to convince me that you're right and I'm wrong, nor am I going to convince you that I'm right. But I am!;)

We haven't found any of the changes to negatively effect us. In fact I think its been quite the opposite. We were able to do some of the thrill rides more than we would have in the past if we had to keep going back for FP. Being able to schedule them worked out great. Although to be honest we didn't need them most of the time we were there as lines just were never that bad.

The Magic Bands we found pretty convenient. Paid for parking at DTD I didn't know about but I'm not surprised. I'm always seeing people online trying to figure out how to park there for free and get over to the parks although it seems like a crazy hassle to me. But since we stay onsite without a car most of the time now its a nonissue for us. We don't really go to DTD every trip anyhow.

We did three trips this past year from the Northeast and I just got DH's approval for a Spring trip next year. If we had the money I'd love to be there at least twice a year but for the near future we will be planning on one annual Disney vacation. There's just no place like it for a family with young kids.

That's pretty much it.

Disney just doesn't fit them anymore- they want a park with more thrill rides. They want a park that lets them plan on the fly. They want a park that doesn't penalize them for not staying on site.

.

Those statements don't fit my family at all. We have never stayed off site. I plan our park days well ahead of time around early entry, and while I would LOVE to have more rides at Disney, they don't have to be thrill rides (although a couple would be nice). My favorite rides are ToT (admittedly a thrill ride), Soarin' (I don't consider it a thrill ride, but some might), PotC, and Haunted Mansion.

I just don't want to plan my rides ahead of time. I *don't* want to be "locked in." And while I consider myself a tech geek, I don't want to have to be glued to my phone during my vacation.

I'm with you. Although when we go the wait times are more than 5 minutes they are still quite reasonable. (April, May and November). Supposedly average crowd levels.

I don't really see how you are any more locked in with the new system than the old. Either way you have a set return time for the ride you can use it or not. If anything the new system is more flexible because you can change your time or even the attraction. Couldn't do that before.

And I've yet to feel a need to be glued to my phone while I'm there. Usually I make any changes on the bus ride over or while standing in line. It never interferes with my day.

Me too, but I'm a teacher. There is no way I could take off during the first month of school, which for me starts the middle of August. I get two personal days/year, which cannot be used in conjunction with any kind of holiday. There usually aren't any awesome rates for summer, Christmas break, and spring break.

I would argue it does fit your family- at least partially. You don't want to be locked in- Disney wants you locked in. The question is, do you dislike it enough that you won't return?

And my statement was simply a list of the most common complaints I read on these boards- If you don't fit into those categories, it doesn't apply to you.

We went in early August and the parks were packed- and it still worked well.

The only problem was the lines at the kiosks were sometimes long- and the headliners were not available. But, no different than with legacy fp that time of year. By the time you got thru using 2 or 3 legacy passes, the headliner times were either very late in the day or gone altogether- and forget park hopping.

At least with fp+ I can get the headliners ridden once without a fp runner. Booking 60 days out you can get any ride you want with absolutely no problems with the exception of A&E m&g and sdmt- and we had no trouble with sdmt at 30-45 days out. Even then, it's very likely that within those 60 days you'll find them.

I can live with that
