Just priced up with Virgin for 2 adults and a child for return economy flights on 26th August 2011 (the first day the price comes down).

With an intermediate car (which should be a free upgrade as I'm a FV) and the car insurence it is coming out at £2000 and thats with 15% discount they have offered me!!

Does anyone else think that its steep?

Does anyone have any suggestions of another way to do it? Would it be cheaper to book car hire separately?

I've taken the plunge and booked for summer 2011. Booked the villa during the Easter holidays and sorted out a fly drive package (with virgin) yesterday.
Fly on the 20th July for 18 nights. The car (upgraded to full size with plat insurance) and flights came to £3276. This was for 3 adults and 1 child. I know some people might we are mad paying virgin fares but having looked at what they are charging for this summer (over £900) we dedcided to just book and have time to pay it off rather than putting it on the credit card! We have to go during the summer holidays and wanting 18 nights and not wanting to go in-direct thought the price was'nt too bad.

The only thing that was in the back of my mind was "what would virgin do for their fly drive customers if something like flights being grounded happened again? Do they have an obligation to look after all their customers or just the one's who have booked complete packages with them?"

Does anyone know what virgin did for their flydrive customers during the weeks grounding? Woud be interested to know

If it was for last July/early August then its a good price but flight prices drop after 21st/22nd August, you should get a better price waiting for flight only and car seperate but no guarantees anymore.
I have just priced up flydrive for us next August 4th-29th £920pp before starting with car & insurance, no way am I paying that for economy, I will be looking at Delta (and others) again, for £1,170pp I am having lay flat seats in Buisness Elite this August 10 times better than going with Virgin IMO.

Just booked a fly drive today for Easter 2011. This will be our 5th time to WDW, with our last visit way back in 2005.

We are flying into Miami as this is saving us over a £1000 with Virgin. We did this before and it it "just" a 230 miles. Although it is so easy and nearly all on one road.

For us we can justify the extra time against the savings.

Well I have nearly a whole year to get planning now. I have a lot to live up to as our last visit I managed to get reservations for CRT, Illuminations Cruise and a whole host of other dinner reservations.

Wish me luck.

As I understand it a Flydrive is a package and you have the same rights as complete package holidaymakers to be flown home.

I just booked my holiday with virgin for august 2011. i intended to book oct half term, but by the time I got my tesco ccv sorted the dates I wanted were already booked.:scared1:

so I started looking at other dates and found that the 22nd august had a vaa adjustment, which brought the flights down from £747 to £481 for adults, and from £497 to £297 for children.

checked a couple of days later when the brochure was released, I like to torment myself, and the price has shot up to £777 for adults and to £497 for children:scared1:

since then the flights now sold out in economy.

I am really pleased that I booked when I did now.
