Is a Jacket really required for Guys on 4 Night Cruise?

for brunch in palos on the day at sea (the last day of the 4 day cruise) dress is casual...
that's the reason we decided to have brunch there rather than dinner....i didn't want to pack a jacket, nor did my husband want to wear one....

for dinner in the regular rotation restaurants, a nice polo shirt and khaki trousers is perfectly fine in all of the restaurants (though there are men more dressed up in tritons, there are also men who aren't)....

I wore a dress shirt and tie to Triton's on 6/21 and I was ridiculously overdressed (this was main seating -- don't know if that makes a difference). I saw two men wearing jackets. 90% wore 'resort casual' (including plenty of people with shorts).

I also wore a dress shirt and tie but no jacket to Palo at 6:00 on 6/23 and I felt perfectly comfortable, though the majority of men were wearing jackets. If DCL really wanted men to wear jackets to Palo then they would require them to do so. If a jacket is suggested then that means they are giving you a general guideline but leaving it up to your own discretion. I wouldn't wear a polo shirt to Palo since that would be pretty far from the suggested attire, but a nice dress shirt and tie is just as dressy as a jacket and no tie IMO and anyone dining at Palo who is offended by someone in a dress shirt and tie needs to lighten up!!

My DW and I have eaten at Palo's twice. The first time I wore a shirt with tie and was over dressed compared to the other men there in silk type shirts. Our second time I wore a silk button down type of shirt. I was not questioned, turned away, or treated any differently than any other guest. It is a great place to eat but I will not wear a jacket there just because someone thinks that it is not treating the place with respect.

I treat the staff with respect and pay the same hard cash as the rest to dine there, and no disrespect to any of you, I don't like wearing suits or dinner jackets. So I will be the guy wearing the nice, comfortable silk shirt enjoying my nice private dinner with my wife, not worrying about what people think of what I am wearing.
