Is 6 days too much for DL alone?

Just realize we are a family that has been to WDW a lot of times and average about 8 nights a trip to cover MK, Epcot, Ak and Downtown Disney. and usually cover eveything and then some. That's what my thoughts were when figuring 6 days in mostly DisneyLand.

That's quite understandable. I guess it depends what you mean by everything. Every ride, or every free experience or more. Based on when in April will effect this a bit. Like i said early when it's crowded everything will be operating at max. Later everything will be weekends only. So if your 6 days are Sunday through Friday, you will have to plan that super carefully since you may only have one shot at a lot of things.

We will do some California Adventure, but mostly just Disneyland and some time swimming if weather permits. It's our first, and probably only trip, or at least for some time to California from N.J.

Like others said I think you will be in DCA more than you think. Parkhopping takes only a minute and there are so many do not miss attractions there if this is your only trip.

Aladdin musical, WOC, Monsters Inc, Little Mermaid, Screamin, the Animation Studio to name a few off the top of my head. We usually go to DL first thing in the morning, then hop over to DCA late morning or lunch time. Then we might go back and forth a few more times after that collecting FPs in both parks.

If you guys love Disneyland, it may be enough with just four days. Although, I'm sure at the end of April you can go swimming as the weather out that way isn't bad at all. I have to admit, I was all Disney'd out by the end of day three. :rotfl:

Have fun on your trip.

I think you're treating DCA as if its another park separate from DL, just like DHS is separate from MK... I think it would help if you think of it more as another "land", i.e., "Californialand", that has been added to DL.

We did 5 nights on our first visit (never leaving property) and we were bored after about day 3. We did 2 nights this time around and it was pretty much perfect. Guess it depends on the individual, but that worked for us...

Did you hit everything on the first visit? I remember reading your last trip report and it seemed like you missed alot of attractions?

Personally I think 4-5 days is perfect if you going to just stay on site and enjoy everything.

With six days, you have the time to be able to the best seats for the fireworks, for fantasmic, for WoC. You also have the time to relax. It's frustrating for me to try to find a decent view of any of the nighttime shows (except for MMY...that you can pretty much just show up for) when I'm so focused on rides, rides, rides. So much better to know that you can show up for the fireworks 90 minutes before and if you need to, you can get a spot and send someone off to get dinner.

If you're talking about ocean swimming, April is waaay chilly. If you're talking about your hotel swimming pool, depends on where you're from. Since I've had cold and grey all winter, there's not anytime in SoCal I'm not happy to get in a hotel pool.

I would go for six days if it was my first and only trip. You won't feel rushed to do everything. If the days are crowded you can go back to the hotel and rest. You will be able to catch all the shows (sit and get a good spot early) and not feel like you are missing out on something else.

Give California Adventure a chance, we like a lot of there rides, Alladin musical, Animation Academy, tough to be a bug, muppets 3-D.(Just to name a few fun things we like) I use to like the food there better than Disneyland(it is still good but Disneyland food has changed some of there menus for the better).

I would take the time to enjoy myself. Have fun.

We went for 9 days/nights this past fall and there were still things we wanted to do, that were up and running, that we didn't manage to squeeze in. I still need to get back for the crepes cart in DTD. Needless to say we were never once bored (though a bit hungover on one particular morning :rolleyes1).

We also had a couple of days that we focused on the resorts more (DLH pool, VGC pool).

Overall it was a nice relaxed pace, and if you love Disney a really great way to see DLR without feeling rushed. We did Star Tours at least 2x a day every day, managed to hit most of our favorites most days. Only did the Magic Mornings 3x, rope drop twice (I think they overlapped). Also only had kids for part of the trip, the first 4 days ... don't know if I'd want to do that much Disney with my DS5, (would just be overtiring) but with a teenager that would be more do-able.

A) We are mainly DL fans, and we will spend some time in CA, but we mainly want to stay in DL.

B) Not sure end of April is swimming weather, so I don't know if I can factor that in, bt if it is swimming weather we would like to dedicate some time for that.

c) we are not going to leave the property for any reason ( even though DS 14 is a fanatical Lakers fan, he LOVEs DL THAT much and wants to stay there.

:)

We spent 6 days in park in October and we're going back next month, so no, I don't think it's too much.

April can be swimming weather, SoCal is wonky and it could be hot, it could be rather cold. Our trip last May is the coldest I've ever seen it.

We didn't leave Disney on our 6 day trip. Again, happy campers.

Have fun!
