Did you buy the protection plan for your child's Ipod touch or just a protective case? Torn......

Honestly, for what I paid I'm willing to roll the dice. A protection plan would be at least $20, I think, and my end price was only $135 for the iPod. My kids are pretty good with electronics (they have an old iPhone they've been using for a while and they haven't killed it yet -) and as long as the case is decent, I think it'll be okay. :confused3

I'm still trying to figure out what case - I think I'm going to go with the Otterbox Commuter case. Did you have one in mind?

I just bought my Daughter (3 1/2) an IPOD TOUCH for Christmas... walmart had a 1 yr accident protection (puddle, drop, etc coverage) for $17. I bought it!! and I also bought an Otterbox defender case from Amazon for it... If she were 13 I may have passed, But her age (even though she is careful) I thought $17 wasn't too bad. I did pass on the "extended Manufacture warranty" though

Wow where did you find such a great deal?

Depends on how long you want your kids to keep it.
I'd check with SquareTrade if I were you and wait for a 30% off deal.
I think I got my coverage for less than $30 (for 2yr. Which means an extra year on top of the mfr warranty... including Accidental Handling) plus I bought Otterbox Commuter plus Best Skins Ever skin.
Yes, I'm over protective but now I won't flinch everytime my 2 y.o daughter wants to play with it.
And if something does happen to it in the next 2 years, I can call SqTr and they'll send me a check for a new one :thumbsup2

The otterbox cases are fantastic! The only thing I would worry about would be getting dropped in water.

If by "protection plan" you mean the Apple Care warranty, keep in mind that it does not cover loss or damage.

We got just the protective case. We have an Apple store close to us. Whenever an issue comes up we take our stuff there. They have fixed and replaced iPhones and iPod touches for us and it's super easy. It's been free or extremely cheap to do this since there is a limited 1-year manufacturer warranty. Water and damage isn't covered, but most everything else is. My bf's iPhone was actually 3 weeks out of warranty when it started acting up in August and they just replaced it for free. We've had nothing except fabulous service from them.

I think it's a good idea as long as it covers drops, cracked screens, and water damage. It comes with a 1 year manufacturer waranty. I'm not sure what exactly it covers. I have a friend that her kids have 2 and both of them of them have cracked screens. The cost to replace the screens are the same as a new one.

I would get a great cover for it and the protection coverage if it covers cracked screens ect.

How old is your child? We put an otterbox on the one used by a 6YO and a 3YO. It has been dropped repeatedly (sometimes on our ceramic tile floor and sometimes in the driveway) and is still in beautiful shape. Didn't bother with extended warranty or protection plan as they seem to be pricey compared to the price of the item.

I'm pretty sure it was the Target BF deal.
You got it! 10% off coupon, $40 gift card and 5% off for the Red Card - it came out to $135.50 on the receipt (they let me do them as separate transactions so the second one was really only that much OOP, the first was $175 but I was able to use the $40 GC for another item on my Christmas list, so it really was a savings of $40). I thought it was a great deal!
