IPads, and IPods and Tablets - OH MY!! Help??

My DH and I both got the Kindle Fire last year and we love it! I can't hardly get my 10 yr. old away from it! He loves all the free games you can get on it and he also loves to read and watch movies. So we got him one for Christmas and I know he'll love it! :thumbsup2 Good Luck with whatever you decide, I also don't have other techy stuff so I can't tell you how other tablets are. We enjoy ours and for the price, I don't think we did too bad! :goodvibes

We are still SO on the fence about this. I do know that I want one she can use for several years so I don't think I want one that is targeted to children. We have run the gamut....it started as a Kindle Fire, then the Ipod Touch and so on and so forth. But if I'm going to spend the money I want to get the right product. UGH!! Thanks for all the input. I think I'm leaning back towards the tablet...but not an Ipad?? I know the Fire has limitations - can you get Angry Birds for it? Can anyone give me the skinny on the Kindle Fire??

We have all the gadgets...Ipads, IPhones, and DD11 got a Kindle Fire for her bday. I tried getting DD8 a cheaper Droid based tablet that got good reviews on CNET, and it was HORRIBLE! I sent it back right away.

User interface was not intuitive at all, and that really means so much to a kid. It HAS to be easy to use, or it, well...won't get used! :o) And it did not pick up our WIFI easily in other parts of the house.

As much as I love DH's IPad, I really gravitate to the Fire for DD. It can do anything you want a tablet to do, within reason. Lots of typical apps, lots of free ones. We have an ITunes library with most of those songs on our Cloud drive on Amazon. Once I linked the FIRE to my Amazon account it imported 250 songs onto the Fire with just a touch or two! So easy, and now there is a limited music library on it.

So, I ended up getting another Fire for DD8 for her birthday. For $159, it can do everything a kid would want, and they can grow into it and use it for years.

Again, I am not a big Droid person. I love the intuitive nature of Apple and Kindle. Kindle is so similar to IPads, and easy to use, IMO.

Hope that helps!

So are you saying that you were able to import your itunes library over to the AMAZON cloud so you could put the songs on the fire? We are an apple house and I was wanting to get DD some tablet for Christmas. I was leaning towards the mini iPad, because I LOVE apple but also because of what we have invested in itunes already. I was disappointed in the cost of the mini but don't want to "start over" with the fire repurchasing apps, songs, etc. Will I have to "start over" if I get her a fire?

I would love to know the answer to this as well since I'm in the same predicament.:)

I think i'd get the ipad mini for my dd age 11 if I could swing the price. Later she'll get a phone, but the larger screen makes reading books and playing games easier. Still portable.

if you have other apple products as well, it's a SLAM DUNK!
