iPad 2, will I regret not getting the 3G?

Just an FYI for anyone looking at an Ipad 2 (2nd Gen)... While speaking with an Apple rep today, they informed me that any Ipad 2 (2nd Gen) over 16gb listed as "refurbished" in their online store are actually brand new and moved there for sale since the new Ipad is now released for ordering. Just some savings news to pass on...:)

nice to know...and the basic WiFi Ipad2 is listed at the Apple store for $399 and refurbs are $349.

You won't regret not getting 3G. You absolutely will regret not getting the iPad 3, which is cheaper in Wifi than the 3G iPad 2.

I ordered the new iPad yesterday. I have a Gen1 iPad that is showing sporadic signs of battery issues and shutdowns, so it seemed a good time to make the move. I use my iPad a lot. I'll probably pass the older one on to my brother.

I have the WIFI version and ordered another. We have WIFI in the house, I have a portable MIFI unit and my iPhone can be used as a hotspot, so I've had zero issues with connectivity.

I do have 3G on my Kindle because it was a (very much appreciated!) gift. But I probably would have chosen the WIFI version if I had bought it myself. I think it just comes down to where and how often you'll use the iPad. I toss the MIFI card in my purse and I'm good to go.

:cool1: I ended up with a new iPad2 black 32gb wi-fi with 3g  Thank you for all your responses! I LOVE my new toy!

I have it without the 3g, and don't miss it at all. Most everywhere I go has wifi, and the speeds are reasonable. Streaming stuff might be slow, but that's not something I tend to do when I'm out anyways.

For those times I need the 3g for something, I just use my phone.

I have the wi-fi verison and am fine. I have my iphone when I really need 3G. Last time I was checking on my iphone plan they suggested I use optoin where my iphone can be a hot spot so that will take care or if I HAVE to have 3G.[/QUOTE

This is what I do I just turn on hotspot on my iphone and I have 3g. I use this mostly for the kids ipods but sometimes for my ipad. No extra monthly fee.

We have the Ipad 2 since early last year and we did not get the 3G. We knew that we would use it mostly at home with it occasionally on travel and it has been great for us. But with that being said, my DH and I also both have 3G iphones too so we knew for sure, we definitely did not need 3G on the ipad2 nor did we want to pay the monthly fee. If you know you are mostly going to use it at home, I would be happy with the Wifi. If you will bring it everywhere with you and use it all the time no matter where you are, then 3G would be better but that is only if you actually have a 3G phone or some sort of smartphone.
