This has been some week, I tell ya. DS got his driving permit, and I let him drive us home one day after school. I am NOT a good candidate for helpful driving instructor! I think I'll let him get a little more school practice before I do THAT again! Or, I'll let his dad take him! LOL Actually, it wasn't too bad. ;) He can only get better, right? right?

Add to that, DD finally did it! Yup, 6-1/2yo she finally mastered the two-wheeler!!! :sunny: The day she learned was perfect-o, the next day not so good. :( She has the LARGEST assortment of band-aids on her that I've ever seen! Now today, not a scratch. Just wheeling up and down this block more times than I can count, and quite fast I might add. And, she has 2 hand-me-down bikes, of different sizes, so she's been riding them both.

So, who's responsible for this MARVEL of technology, leading to my gray hairs?!?!

;)

Awwww! Oh my gosh Kim, you bought back lots of great memories for me!

I hope you have fun with your son and his lessons (I remember those days! :scared1: ) and your little one! Just think of how much exercise you're getting! :p

When I was teaching my youngest stepdaughter to drive, we went around a corner and she drove JUST the passenger side of the car up onto the sidewalk and continued to drive that way without making an attempt to get off the sidewalk! I said, " Ummm, you're on the sidewalk!" She continued to drive that way and said, "I know!" like she always did that or something! :scared1: I-yi-yi!

Have fun Kim! LOL!

Congrats to Matt & Kelly!!

My mom wasn't good while I was learning to drive either--pretty much she sent me to my dad's for that. :teeth: Even after I got my license, it took her awhile to be able to be a fairly-comfortable passenger. LOL

I'll get you a bottle of hair color Kim just tell me what color you want to be!

Great news about the kids!!!!

You both cracked me up!

My DS's first left hand turn (with me anyway), he was almost through the entire intersection, no brake involved, and I thought he'd take out the whole corner's front lawn!

That's exactly what I fear. I think letting his dad do this is best for me, for now anyway. ;)

I-yi-yi.........SOOOOO appropriate right now! :p

I'll color it when you get here!!! I'll even buy the really good stuff!;) :p

When we drove out here, my mom did most of the driving--she's still not a 100% comfortable passenger. :teeth: She likes to be driven, she just hates that she isn't the one driving. LOL

So you may never out grow that!

There was a clan of cro-magnons hanging around a fire about 200.000 years ago...one of them found a flat somewhat circular rock....and he decided to move it closer to the fire....

so...he pushed up on one side....and lo & behold...with much less effort...he was able to get the rock moving....

unfortunately, he lost control...and the rock zoomed through the fire...and rolled down the hill opposite of where he sat...

even more unfortunate...the rock hit a sbre tooth tiger that was at the bottom of the hill...and the tiger got mad...

ran up the hill...and ate the clan....

so...the inventor will never be known for sure...

Good thing because I feel just like that sabre tooth tiger right about now! ;)

I can relate! I let my niece drive my brand new car to be nice. It, the car survived, I wondered if I would however. My children are now 12 & 13, pretty close to 13 & 14. In 2 short years, I get to relive that experience. I can hardly wait!!! My husband is probably much better at that sort of thing than I am. I don't even wanna think about it.

Seriously, this is my thought as well. I know the car/van is only material, so I know I'm not worried about that...BUT.....it's the accident, hurting someone else, etc. that I panic about. Oy! I think I need a pill or something. :o

you're busting my gut, BP!!! :rotfl: But, biking & driving all in the SAME week?!?! Lord help me!

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Kim... remember the feeling you get when riding a Roller Coaster for the first time???? That is exactly what it is like trying to teach a son to drive..... at least this time I live in a rural section of Ca.... the first son drove me insane when I tried to teach him to drive a stick in the middle of San Jose... OH MY GOD!!!

I just would start giggling because it was all I could do as Mike tried to learn how to shift... that and take a handful of tylenol before we left the driveway because my back and neck would hurt like crazy due to his inablity to smoothly shift.. I thought my head would end up in the back seat of the Samuri at times....

Jake was much easier.. we had one huge blowout his first time in the busiest parking lot in town... LOL.. no horses tied up to the post at the ACE hardware that day!! LOL....... but now he likes to drive my van because he loves to utilize the SUICIDE KNOB!! ( remember for the hand controls).......... on the way back from Costco today I complained about his use of the knob.. at 40 mph he unhooks the bugger and tossed it into the back seat!!

By time Cameo gets her permit.. in 1 year mind you..:earseek: :earseek: I will have to get a new set of ROSARY BEADS!!
Good Luck Goosey!!

KIm, so hard to believe they are both growing up SO much. Good luck, to Matt and Kelly, and you too.

So, Kelly will be easier???  I can only hope, and pray! ;)

When I was learning to drive, my mom had no patience, but my grandfather would take me to a cemetary to practice. Sound strange?? but I could practice everything but with no traffic, then I would practice in not heavy traffic areas & worked up from there. I'm so glad that DS is only 7, that terrifies me to think of him getting his permit.

LOL! I did that once when my stepmother was in the car with me. It was because I saw a good looking guy on the other side of the road. (never told her why).
They don't teach you in drivers ed about those types of distractions. :p
