Interpret man-speak for me please

I say "I need to wash the dishes and sweep and mop the floor tonight."

DH "If you'll wash the dishes first, I'll sweep the floor."

Should I a) be happy he volunteered to do something. b) question why I have to wash the dishes first before he'll sweep??

I vote for a and c. In my house it would be d) Sit down and relax honey, I'll do it all.

How about "Honey, could you please sweep the floor and start the mopping, while I do the dishes?" Or you could sweep/mop, while he does the dishes.

I learned long ago that a simple request goes a long way and is much better received then me not asking and being mad that he didn't volunteer.

Depends on exactly what you meant.

When you say "need to wash the dishes and sweep the floor", do you mean just do the kitchen/dining area?

If so, I would have said the same thing. You do the dishes first and then I'll sweep. That's in case anything falls on the floor while you're doing the dishes.

Now if by "sweep the floor" you meant you needed to do all the floors (not just the kitchen/dining area, then I have no idea why you'd have to do the dishes first.

Okay, missed the mopping. He definitely wants you to do the dishes first so that when he sweeps and mops the floor, you won't then be standing on the nice clean floor.

I can interpret that based on things my husband says:
"I will sweep after you wash the dishes because washing the dishes takes longer than sweeping. If I come in the kitchen and sweep, then finish while you are still doing the dishes, you'll probably ask me to help finish the dishes, and I definitely don't want to do that."
