Hello everyone, I am brand new to cruises and I am getting close to booking one. A few questions about trip insurance though:
1. Just wanted to clarify that yes I can cancel a cruise if it is more than 120 days before the cruise and I will get all my money back including my deposit.
2. I have heard it is highly recommended to buy cancellation insurance and that you have to add it right away something like within 12 days of booking. But if the answer to question number 1 is yes, then would the insurance company give me back my money too?

The insurance premium is not refundable - or at least none that I've run across. So if you book, then buy insurance, and a few months later cancel -- the amount paid towards the insurance cannot be recouped.

If you cancel, or change the cruise date, prior to the official PIF date then you will get a full refund of any monies paid to DCL (minus insurance if purchased through DCL). Unless you book concierge as that deposit is never refundable.

Depending on your needs, yes you may want to secure travel insurance within a week or so of the initial booking. That often allows one to purchase coverages otherwise not offered or offered for an expensive premium -- such as pre-existing condition waiver. However, it is possible to purchase insurance up until fairly close to the travel dates, some items may or may not be covered at that point (once a storm is "named" you cannot subsequently purchase insurance to cover trip cancellation/interruption caused by that storm).

I suggest you think about what are the most important reasons you want the insurance. Then you can shop around with a comparison site online. Then call to ask any questions so you are sure you get what you expect.
