Can't I just BUY them at the Airport?:confused3 I remember seeing a whole section in one of the Airport shops with nothing but travel sized items. Wouldn't that be easier than worrying about the 3-1-1 rule?

If you are particular about using particular brands, this might be a problem. Also, not all airports have these items available after going through security.

Of course, you can also buy what you need when you arrive at your destination.

I would most likely carry on Nasal Spray and Eye Drops and my makeup, but as far as toothpaste and such, it really doesn't matter.:confused3 I also use bar soap so thats not a problem either.;) Think I will try this in Feb. Will post about it when I get back.

Be prepared! That tactic is going to COST more. Those 99 cent tubes of toothpaste are usually aroudn $2 for example.

This past week DH and I were at the Orlando/Sanford, Des Moines and So Bend (IN) airports.
I can't speak for Des Moines, as we arrived there, not departed.
But I think part of this buying at the airport issue would also be the size of the airport. Some have very slim choice once travelers go through security.

We noticed other travelers buying vending machine beverages after they went through the security. Those who tried to openly carry the beverages on the flight had to throw them away or guzzle the drink.
Others who concealed their beverages boarded with them.

use a USPS flat rate box for $8.10 and ship the items ahead. I do it all the time.

If they were asked to discard beverages bought after security, the FA was acting incorrectly. Items purchased inside security are now allowed on the aircraft without restriction.

Why? Beverages purchased AFTER security are allowed on the plane. I would not have given mine up without a fight.
Don't know what airline you flew but they might want to TRAIN their gate agents in whichever city it was!

Not a problem, the toothpaste I will bring, I am giving up the eye drops and hand lotion, mouth wash, so my 3-1-1 zip bag isn't so full.

How big is the Ups box for $8.10? It is sounding like the simpler solution. The last time I went to Disney, I checked a cardboard box full of food and water bottles, juice boxes etc.. with my luggage. We ate quick breakfasts in our room and threw the box away when we were done. Now with all the added airport restrictions I doubt I could do this. Maybe I will ship.

there are two sizes - I can fit two toiletry bags into the squarish one, or a pair of jeans, several shirts, and a jar of Nutella. For the flat one, almost unlimited chocolate and Nutella.

Official sizes are 11 x 8.5 x 5.5 or 11 7/8 x 3 3/8 x 13 5/8 (sorry, those are in inches and I don't know inches so I hope that is correct)

The beauty is that you can take a box in your suitcase ie folded flat, print a shipping label before you leave home, and schedule pickup from your resort. That way you don't need to transport your toiletries in either direction.

And while courier companies have lost my boxes several times, USPS always gets my box there on time.

Just to clarify - it's USPS ie your postal service, NOT UPS.

I think that's a great idea. I'm going to price out a bigger box to ship my food suppllies as well. We don't need that much just nonperishable breakfast items, toiletries and my trusty can of Lysol.
