introduced a prince who fell in love with a prince (similar to storyline of the book being read in MA 2nd grade classroom)?

Boycott Disney? :confused3

I could just imagine a version of Cinderellabration in which Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, and Prince Marvin await their true loves.

Some may applaud such a move. I think this might pretty much be the end for me and my family as far as Disney is concerned. How about yours?

Hmmm, very good question. I will say, I would not take my young children to see it. Mainly because I really feel the topic of sexual preferences should be age appropriate.

I would definitely not boycott Disney over it.

I would applaud such a move. Gay people are a part of society and should not be invisible. Being gay is not just about sex and many people don't seem to realize that. There are ways to address homosexuality without focusing on sex.

Very well put. Thank you for saying what I would, but can never put into the right words.

Sure, I'd take the little one, if he'd go to a prince/princess movie. The older one probably wouldn't go, but if he did, I can just hear him...............he thinks princesses are "froopy"........likely he'd either think the other prince was either "really cool" or "froopy" depending on how they portray him.
Apparently froopy means girls that wear frilly stuff and act really girly.......he tells me he likes "cool girls", not "froopy girls".

Hehe...Id rather see two princesses!!

It would not be realistic though...in history...homesexuals were seldom allowed a happily ever after. It would need to be a more modern tale.

My thoughts exactly. :)

I've spoken with ds10 about homosexuality since he was six and came off the bus asking what a (nasty epithet for a gay man) is because so-and-so was called one on the bus. To him, G/Ls are like heterosexuals in every way except they fall in love with members of the same gender. He's never asked about the sex lives of G/Ls, and if he does, I'll tell him what I feel he can handle appropriately--the same way I've answered his questions about hetero. sex. It's an issue I feel should be discussed openly for the same reasons LukenDC stated--why make G/Ls an anomaly?

I can't see a movie theme such as this being something he'd be interested in--if it can't be hit with a bat, dunked in a hoop or punted through a goal post, he doesn't seem to care about it  but if he asked to see it, I'd certainly have no problems taking him. :)

Then all the people who already boycott Disney will still boycott Disney. Yeah!

I don't get it- why wouldn't that be "age appropriate?" I mean- chances are your kid will see two people of different genders fall in love, what's the difference? You don't have to explain sexual mechanics to explain love.

I would be one of the first in line to see that movie! And would applaud a company like Disney for attempting to overcome the negativity attached to homosexuality.
