Inspired by Mike

Well I am the only one on here, but I think Wal Mart is good. A couple years our Wal Mart was just a plain one. But then it turned into a "Super Wal Mart". I personally like it but would rather go to the mall. I do really like Target, they just built a new one, but I would rather go to Wal Mart because I know where everything is in WalMart. You can get food, clothes, shoes, DVD, DVD players, IPODS, cell phones, furniture, computer games, xBox and all of those other game stations, games, yes a lot.

We can't get groceries at Walmart where we live. we don't have the Supercenter.

but we have the good ol Mccy D's inside xD

We also have a "Dunking Dounuts"

nvr heard of that bfore.

not to be offtopic but in our target we have a pizza hut!! lol idk if that counts

Target of course, is better, but I love Wal-mart because they're so cheap. I don't really sympathize for their workers or how badly they treated there because they don't have to work there. My friend works there and he makes like, $8 an hour. Maybe Wal-marts are just nicer in Michigan.

Ah man, here we go..

This thread is very convenient because my last day working at Sam's Club (which is a Walmart store) was today and I am not so happy..

First to address the union thing, it says flat out in their orientation videos that there is no need for a union at Walmart or Sam's Club because they have an open door policy. As a result of this policy you can go to your managers/supervisors and speak to them openly and judgement free. It also said this in all the CBL's I was required to do (CBL's are basically quizzes on a computer that all employees are required to take regarding Walmart and Sam's Clubs policies).

Basically I didn't mind working there. Sure it was quite a bit of work lifting 50lb bags of dog food and numerous cases of water, gatorade and other items all day but you got used to it. One thing I didn't like was the fact they were very difficult in letting me get days off. When I was hired I had told them that I would be needing quite a few days off because of graduation, college issues, etc. and they had told me it would be no problem. I had been working there maybe 2 weeks when I went to my supervisors and told them the days that would be coming up that I needed off. They got fairly angry at this and told me that I needed to tell them 3 weeks in advance because the schedules are already drawn up and to go back in and maneuver it around was inconsiderate. While they were telling me this I was wondering how I could tell them 3 weeks in advance if I had just started working there 2 weeks ago (I did get the days off though). The rest of the time I tried my best to fill out the time sheet for the days I needed off.

I didn't get my raise either. I had been there 90 days so I got evaluated. I didn't pass. There were 2 reasons why, the 1st being that I had called out sick twice. 1 day was legit the other day was for college reasons (I had to go to PA on short notice..I had no other choice). The 2nd reason was because I wasn't a good follower of the 10-foot rule. Basically the 10-foot rule is where an employee must smile, say hi, and/or assist customers/members anywhere within a 10-foot radius of them. At Sam's it also includes thanking the member by name. I didn't care though because I was evaluted on the 13th and my last day was supposed to be the 17th so it wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

So today was my last day working at Sam's, it was supposed to be tomorrow though. I had told my supervisor 3 weeks or so in advance that July 17th would be my last day. She said it would be fine. I also talked to her a few times in between about it. Today after I got home from work I got a call from one of the COS's (check out supervisors) saying that I didn't need to come in tomorrow because they had enough people. I told her that it was no problem because it was supposed to be my last day anyway. She had no idea. So I asked to talk to the head supervisor and when I talked to her she said that I was supposed to give her written warning that I would be leaving and that it was very unprofessional of me to tell her the day before. She also went on to say that I am very unreliable and she doesn't think that she would take me back during my college breaks as a result. That was it..I guess I'm not going back (with the exception of picking up my last paychecks).

So in a nutshell that was my experience at Sam's Club, hope you enjoyed it..

Oh well at least I go to Disney World on Thursday..

The store? Yes. Love it.
The people? No. Can't stand them.

There is a book out "How Walmart is Taking Over The World and How We Can Stop It" or something to that effect. I haven't read it...has anyone else?

there's also a movie called:
Wal-Mart : The High Cost Of Low Price
