Have you ever met anyone from the Net that turned out to be a TRUE lifelong friend?

Living in Orlando I have had the chance to meet many, many wonderful DIS folks over the past 2 1/2 years...Actually ran into Pumba today at EPCOT...:)

I think everyone I have met has been as genuine and kind as I expected.....I even got to meet a real hero last year when I met JayPD...And got to see him again at DIS CON II...

But I guess my best running buddy has to be PandyPaws.... :)
We run WDW from one end to the other when she gets to come down. Usually run into a bunch of DIS folks and I can say that spending time with her and the rest of you is the best time I have all year here. It just ain't the same when ya'll go home....

SO PLEASE HURRY BACK!! ;) I miss you guys..... :(

Never met anyone from the DIS. Talked to some by phone, does that count. Everyone I have spoken to by phone was really nice to talk to.

I'm hoping I won't get you confused with your doppelganger, Kevin, next time we meet. It was great seeing you again.

I don't think I will be back until next May :(

I have met some lifelong friends here too, Tony. I can name about 10 off the top of my head. My fellow Webmasters (past & present) top the list. The only problem (as you found out) is the distance thing. My long distance bills to Cal., Mass., Fla. and Indiana are humungous! :) But well worth it. I love these people like they are my family and would do anything for them. :)

Nice thread, thanks for showing the other side of the coin. :)

Most certainly.

I couldn't even begin to name all my lifelong friends here, but I'm blessed to have many. I know these people will be here for me through thick and thin, as I would be there for them.

I even have some other people that I consider life long friends that I've never met. We just share a connection that is very strong, and if they were to go away I'd have to track them down.

That was the best post I have seen all day... kudos to you TVT... I am sure Pandy is missing her best pal right now too...

I have met many here...some I feel very lucky to call friends..and I too have the long distance phone bills to prove it.. Hugs to all and Merry Christmas...

I know what you mean Tony. Have met so many great people here, you included. It was fun hanging out with you and Pandy on my family's last night at the World. Take care buddy and don't worry, we'll get down to bother you again soon.

By the way, DS Alex is missing his jungle gym, so we'll have to figure out a way to get back down there.

Yes Tony, many have touched my heart here. There is a smaller group here who I consider family, I would do anything in the world for them, and vise versa. Thanks for the post and it was a pleasure seeing you again last week :)

I have not met anyone yet. I would love too. That GoofyPoster looks like he gets around I am sure I'll run into him sometime.:D

Every DIS'er I have met has been really nice!

That's how I got addicted to DIS...I went to a meet with Jules and everyone was so nice:D

Very true, Tony. Over the past almost four years, I have made a number of friendships that I would consider lifelong. Some I have met in person, some not as of yet. Some wonderful people here. And Tony, it's always nice to see you when I visit the World. :)

I have met some great people due to this board...made some, I hope, lifelong friends. Even Tony...

Tony,
In my head (a scary place!) I think your thread and Dan's are saying the same thing. The way I have always looked at it is that the internet is made up of people. Some good, some bad....just like real life.
I have certainly formed some incredible friendships (except I have toll free nationwide on my cell phone so the bills aren't too bad!).
I have met a few people who I didn't like so well.
Just like real life!

Through the DIS I have met some of the best friends I have ever had in my life. In all honesty there are two that I don't know how I would be able to live my life if they weren't in it. There are definitely some not nice people on the internet but for the many more that are wonderful, it's worth it to put up with them.
