Inspired by being a thread highjacker- the OT thread!

Really wish I could contribute more around here, but I am coming to the realization that I have the most boring life of anyone on these boards.

I wouldn't say you have a boring life. You just have a great life thats drama free. I would take that any day!

Geez, I'm a little whiny tonight. You are right, of course. I'm very lucky these days...I know it.

I'm going to bed. Tomorrow is a new haircut and those are always interesting days. I'll be a better, peppier girl tomorrow!

:)

I'm baaaaaaaaa-aaaack.

Hi everyone!!

How're things on the DIS? Just got home a few hours ago. I am BEAT. Is Florida always so freakin hot?

I had a wonderful time- will give a full report tomorrow. Must finish unpacking. Love my nieces- soooooo glad they are back with their mom, though! :) The oldest one was a whiny pain-in-my-rump! UGH! I was so disgusted with her at several points (particularlt when she whined the entire time during Wishes) that I contemplated putting her butt on a plane back to St. Louis. But I didn't. And we all survived. It's a freaking miracle.

Good to be home!

OK- So, here's my trip (in a nutshell).

Day 1: We wake up obscenely early, finish packing up the car, and head out on the road by 6:30 am. 6:33 am we realize we left the maps on the kitchen table. Turn around. Alright! 6:40 am- on the road (again). We drive. And drive. And drive some more. We finally stopped in Perry, GA around 10:30 at a Howard Johnson's. You should have seen the girls- thet were hysterical. They have never stayed in a hotel, and they thought this cheap room at the Howard Johnson was the coolest thing they had ever seen. I'm thinking I could have saved a WHOLE lot of money at this point by just taking them 10 minutes up the road from my house to the Holiday Inn, but whatever.

Day 2: Back on the road bright and early. Thank God for portable DVD players. They turned the girls into vertiable zombies- which IS a good thing on this long of a car ride. But it hasn't been too bad. We finally arrive at POP Century at 2:30. I had never stayed here. At first glance, it's big and bright and fun. The food court and gift shop are nice. We got our room (9101 in the 80's building). Not a bad walk. BUT- we are on the first floor facing the pool. Some people might think we scored big. NOT me. It was noisy and the music blared from the pool, and quiet hours are apparently "optional." I think since staying at POR I am just spoiled.

So, we went to MK first thing, and saw the castle, hit Mickey's Toon Town, rode the Barnstormer (DN5 hated it, dn3 loved it). By then, it was time for dinner at Chef Mickey's. Went to Contemporary- discovered the Kungaloosh while waiting for a table  - why have I never had this before? Anyway- Chef Mickey's. FUN! I had never been there either, and it was easily the best meal of our trip. Food was good, the girls had a blast, and each character gave the girls lots of attention. The meal costed $102. Thank God for the dining plan- I will never go to WDW without it now!!! We saved so much money and got to have great meals that otherwise would have been too pricey! Sooo.. Back to the hotel for swimming- it had been a long day.

Day 3: Oh yeah- Star Wars weekends. My dh was over the moon. He woke up in the 6 am hour, and made it to MGM by 7:20. I was still sleeping. The park didn't open until 9- but he got Peter Mayhew's autograph :chewy: (Chewbacca) and was thrilled. The girls and I made it over there by 10, and the park was crowded. And HOT. I always entertain the idea of living in FL- but no way. I would die. Visiting only for this chick. So, we do MGM, and all that jazz. The girls are cranky- we finally rent a stroller- and :wizard: No more crankiness.

We had dinner at 50's Prime Time. Tasty, as usual. There's another $94 for food. Yea for the dining plan!! :cheer2: After dinner we went to Downtown Disney and did some shopping. Got the girls princess costumes and shoes to match  But- it was worth it. Alicea was Princess Jasmine, and Ariyana was Cinderella.

Day 4: Animal Kingdom today. Alicea (5) had an attitude like a wet mop all day. This was seriously getting old. But, once we gave the girls their cameras- they had a blast taking pictures on Kilamanjaro Safaris. AK was so crowded though. Maybe because it was Saturday? :confused3 I swear, if one more person ran into my heels/ankles/feet with a stroller, I would have been home a lot sooner because Disney security would have sent me packing. And the worse part was that no one even seemed to notice/care- they would just look at you like, "Well, that's what you get for being in MY way." :furious:

I must say that AK isn't my favorite park. But, that aside, we did have a good day. We ate lunch at the Tusker House Restaurant- good counter service!! I was impressed. It almost made up for the fact that there were literally NO tables to sit at, it was so crowded. I felt like a vulture hovering over, and swooping down when I saw someone getting up.

Dinner was at Boma's. I had never been there, and heard such wonderful reviews. I sampled a bit of everything (almost), and I have to say- It was ok. It wasn't the greatest, and certainly not the worst. It was fun to try new things- Alicea was my "try new things" buddy, and we sampled all kinds of stuff, which was lots of fun. I would definitely go again, because the Zebra Domes are worth a visit alone!

Day 5: Epcot day!! Epcot and MK are my two favorite parks. DH and I love Epcot. I was a little worried about how the girls would do- I can see how Epcot would be boring for younger kids- especially the World Showcase, but we had a blast.

8:35 am- reservations for Princess Breakfast at Norway. The girls wore their princess costumes, and got to meet Belle, Mulan, Snow White, Princess Aurora, and Princess Jasmine. They had so much fun meeting the Princesses. The food was pretty good, although nothing to rave about (and at $76, nothing I would ever ordinarily pay for breakfast). :scared1:

So, we went back to Future world. Turtle Talk with Crush was just awesome. It was my first time seeing it, and oh it was great!!! Mark and I took turns doing Soarin'. That was awesome too! The we went around the world until dinner, when we staked out a spot at the Cantina in Mexico, and had dinner and then watched Illuminations!

Day 6: Back to MK for our last full day at WDW. The girls wore their costumes all day and got such a great response from CM's!!! They were :cloud9: !! In fact, in line for Philharmagic, one CM came up to us, and escorted us out of the regular line and into the special "Princess" line!!! (The fastpass line- even though we didn't have fastpasses!). pixiedust: That was awesome.

The girls were kind of scared on Haunted Mansion- but when we got in, we told them that we were going to scare the GHOSTS! So all through the ride, we yelled "BOO! Go away ghosts!" at the ghosts- then it wasn't scary and more fun!! They were giggling and cackling when we got out.

We did all of your basic MK stuff, and then staked out a great spot for SpectroMagic and Wishes. That was wonderful. It was the perfect last night (except for Alicea whining throughout Wishes). During the parade, Prince Charming spotted Ariyana dressed up like Cinderella and blew her a kiss! Talk about a magical moment- she was so wide-eyed! :rotfl: THEN- Peter Pan stopped, bent down to Ariyana, and offered her his arm, and said, "Princess, do you think you could blow on my costume and chage it's color?" Ariyana blew on it- and all the colors in the parade switched from white lights to colored at that moment!! It was too perfect.

But Alicea was sad that Peter Pan didn't stop to see her. :guilty:

Anyway- we wrapped that night up, and headed out, and as we were leaving, Ariyana yells, "My shoe! My shoe!" Turns out Cinderella had lost her shoe a few yards back!! :lmao: :lmao: We recovered it though- no coaches, mice or pumpkins harmed!

Day 7: Today we leave. Went to DTD for more shopping, and headed for home.

Overall, we had fun. Mark and I feel great that we didn't lose the girls, and no one ended up injured or dead.

But I think our next trip will be sans kids. ;)

All because you're a boring, suburban housewife? :rotfl2: Oh, wait a minute, that's me! :lmao:

Becky, your trip sounds like a lot of fun. Sorry for the whiny girl. I'm sure the heat didn't help that.

 No kidding- how DO people live there? :lmao: The heat probably didn't help my mood/patience either. Not that I ever get grumpy. :rotfl2:

Sorry. Wasn't trying to usurp your throne or anything! You know, an internet friend I talked to daily just told me he didn't want to talk to me anymore, I'm too boring :lmao: ...he's right!

Becky, I really enjoyed all of your report. :) Sounds like a good time! :wizard: Very glad to hear you found Boma's OK. One of the few places I haven't tried. Laughted my butt off about that HoJo thing. It is so true...any hotel (especially with a pool!) and kids are in heaven. :cloud9: The cameras are an excellent idea.

My friend and I leave next Thursday. Didn't realize at the time that we'd be arriving during Gay Days. :lmao: I wonder if folks will look at us funny...or if I'll get perks from the CMs that gay people sometimes mention getting.

The heat really drained me when Jake and I were there. We lived in Houston for 5 years, but the big difference is that most people stay inside most of the daylight hours. We went from one air conditioned place to another. But in Orlando a person is outside so much of the time and it really takes it out of a person.

CB, I dare you to wear a rainbow hair ribbon when you go to WDW. :teeth: My prudish sister was shocked when she traveled across the country with a female friend and people assumed that they were a nice lesbian couple. I thought it was pretty funny, especially since my sister was so shocked. :rotfl:

I'd wear the ribbon...where do you find them?

I would actually like to see if I get the looks or the perks I hear about gay people getting at WDW. I can go undercover. :smooth: :smokin:

ETA: Not literally! Although we ARE sharing a room, we'll have 2 beds. :teeth:

You could get the ribbon at a fabric or craft store. Don't forget your lime green ribbon with your lime Mickey heads!

OK, a rainbow ribbon and a lime green one! But that's it! How many hair ribbons can one girl wear?

Becky, is there a talk-about-sex ribbon? ;) :lmao:

I don't think so. If there was, I'd have it!! ;)

Speaking of talking about sex- I am 10 days past ovulation. In about 8 more or so I'll know if we got pregnant this month!! :Pinkbounc Unless of course I get my period before then. I tested this morning- got a negative. But, it's pretty early. So, I am going to test again on my birthday- in hopes that the birthday Gods give me good news.

After that, I'm not testing until I'm really late. Or I won't have to test at all if my monthly visitor shows up (I always hated the term "monthly visitor" or Aunt Flo or all the other corny euphamisms there are for menses).

Anywho- the day before we left for WDW I got a call from the bank my SIL works at about a job. (I had tried to get a position at her branch before but they wouldn't let us work at the same office). Anyway- they had a position open for a Lending Assistant, and she wanted to know if I was interested.

Uh- YES!!

So, she tells me that the job is posted within the bank for one more day, and after that, it will be open to anyone- she'll call me tomorrow to set up an interview. Ok. She calls, I'm in Tennessee at that point, we set up an interview for tomorrow (Friday the 26th). Then Friday (the 19th) she calls me back- on the last day two people within the bank applied for the position, so I can't have it, but they filled the position, and now there's an opening elsewhere- would I be interested? "Yes". She tells me it's at the branch in ABC- where my SIL works. I told her- "Yeah, that'd be great, but they won't let us work together."

Her: "Actually, your SIL got the job- you'd be applying for her position"

:lmao: I called SIL- "You butthead!" SHe's like "I didn't know!!!" :lmao: So, anyway- SIL is getting the lending assistant job, which will be good- it's closer to home and she's really feeling sick right now (morning, noon, and night sickness). And if no one applies for her job within the bank, I'm going to go interview and hopefully get her position. She said she talked me up!

The only bad thing is that her branch is further than the other one- so my drive will be longer. But- it's a job, so it doesn't matter. PLus, if anything opens up at another branch, I can try to move.

I'll feel a little bad about bailing on the Salon so quick- but, I gotta do what I gotta do- and I need a full time job at a better pay!

Speaking of birthdays...
Tomorrow is Stacerita's birthday!!!

party: :cake: :bday:

Stace- I hope you get all of your birthday wishes!!! :sunny:

Beck, what an exciting time! Trying for a job and a baby! :yay: Good luck!

My friend that is hitting WDW with me during Gay Days thinks it is hilarious. She's getting the ribbons and thinks we should HOLD HANDS! Dunno about that! :bitelip:

Who want to come to my house and do laundry while I'm gone?

I don't know about the holding hands either... And I definitely know I don't want to drive anywhere (I'm a little tired of driving at this point) and I don't want to do anyone's laundry- I have a heap of my own to finish. Bleh.

I would never go during Gay Days. Not because it's Gay Days- I'm all for gay people and gay rights- but because Gay Days are always in June and it's so flipping hot.

If they had Gay Days in December or January, I'd have no problem going.

 Hi everyone!

I missed everyone while Becky was gone! She must be the glue that holds us together :rotfl2: I thought about posting, but was too lazy to look up the thread :guilty:

Glad you had a good time Becky. I didn't realize upir dn's were so young...you deserve a gold star (And I wish my sil was like you - if only because I would like to have someone take my kids on vacation!)

I just found out that part of our time in Disney is going to be the Pop Warner and Nat'l Cheerleader Finals  We were going to say at POP or one of the All Stars for 1 night before we move to the Poly, but I can only imagine what the halls are going to sound like!
