Inspired by all the book threads...What's your all-time fav book?

I love to read! My favorites tend to be classics. My all time favorite would have to be Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

To Kill A Mockingbird. Read it the first time when I was about 12 when my older brother had to read it for 11th grade English class. He left it out, I was interested in the title, and sat and read it in about 4 hours. Then when I got to 11th grade, I couldn't wait to read it and discuss it in class. I was the only one who understood the ending. Aced every test on that book.

And I also love Gone With the Wind. The first time I read it, it took me a week. I haven't read it in a while...........have to find my copy and read it again.

Hrmm... tough to pick one, but I'll go with The Brothers Karamazov, Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

rcyannacci, I loved Pillars of the Earth! Great book. I really like historical fiction.

As for fantasy, nothing compares to Lord of the Rings, in my opinion.

gosh, i would be really pressed to come up witha favorite book! i have so many.

if i had to pick, i guess i would say james michener's centennial. i am a *huge* michener fan, and centennial is a very good book, though my reasons for picking it as my favorite are sentimental, i think.

"Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.

An amazing book by an amazing woman.

It depends on my mood;)

I could never pick just one favorite!

Some books that I love and read over and over include...Gone with The Wind, Little Women, A Time to Kill, The Godfather, Our Town, anything by John Jakes and Shane.

I named my youngest DS after the last one!

Too many to pick one...

Anna Karenin-Tolstoy
The Pearl- Steinbeck
Harrison Bergeron-Kurt Vonnegut, JR.
Everything That Rises Must Converge- Flannery O'Connor
Light in the Forest- Conrad Richter

my favorite book (besides the Bible, that is) is Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca. Great book, better movie (1940 Best Picture Oscar, the only one that Alfred Hitchcock ever won).

I was going to say the same thing! I have looked and looked and never found a gothic novel as enjoyable as that one.

The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, Jr., and The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

To Kill a Mockingbird
Pride and Prejudice
Little Women
Pillars of the Earth

Hands down, "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls (I think!)

Loved that book as a child and still do for that matter!

"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" is definitely at the top of my list, as is "The Grapes of Wrath." I read them both for my high school English classes and loved them.

However, the Harry Potter series ranks pretty high too! :)
