Insert Catchy Title Here - An August PTR

Oh no, I hope he gets better! Sorry but I must have missed it or forgot but did they ever figure out what was wrong with him? Poor puppy!

They 1st guessed it was his back. The vet the other day was finally able to specifically pinpoint a spot in his lower lumbar. Like mother, like son ;) (I have a bum back too, in fact, the dog & I are on the same pain meds!)

Yay! :woohoo:For ADR'S !! It makes the trip seem so close!!! :goodvibes

:hyper: I know!!! :hyper: Makes me super excited! It's weird how time works. The trip seems close, but the end of the semester (which is a week before we leave) seems to be forever away!

Since it’s been 13 years since I’ve been to WDW, let’s see what all has changed!

We’ll start with the Magic Kingdom:
The castle has turned into a pink atrocity & back, then was decked out in some gold awesomeness, and is now back to normal.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has gone away, and Winnie the Pooh has replaced it (I think, correct me if I’m wrong.)
20,000 Leagues has been removed, and (I think) the area now houses Ariel’s Grotto (again, correct me if I’m wrong.) – This makes me sad. I loved that ride.
The HM has a new room.
POTC has been renovated to include the characters of the movie that the ride inspired.
The Tiki Room is now under new management.
I’m sure there have been things added to Toontown. I never knew it was there before. Was it? Yeah, I think it was, on my last trip or 2.
Aladdin has added his Magic Carpets.
Mickey’s Philharmagic has been added.
Wishes & Spectromagic
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor

I was never aware that there was a Snow White ride either.

So here’s my list of things to do while in the Magic Kingdom:
Get Conner’s 1st hair cut.
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Small World
Hall of Presidents (I’d like to see the new update, but it’s not critical, since we’ll be going back after I graduate next year)

Things to do that I’ve not done before:
Wishes
Mickey’s Philharmagic
Swiss Family & Tom Sawyer (won’t be super disappointed if these don’t happen, it really depends how we’re tolerating the heat)
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin (this one’s for DH)
Country Bear Jamboree
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (I know! You can pick your jaw up off the floor now.)

Next installment, we’ll cover EPCOT.

Ohhhh that lovely castle cake. I thought that was so cool at the time but now looking back...YIKES!! I did like the Happiest Celebration on Earth decorations (the gold stuff). :thumbsup2

You are correct, Pooh replaced Mr. Toad.

BTMRR is one of my favorite rides! You'll love it.

Awww poor guy! Haha, it's so weird how our pets are like us. That's really funny that he's on the same meds as you!

We’ll start with the Magic Kingdom:
The castle has turned into a pink atrocity & back, then was decked out in some gold awesomeness, and is now back to normal. yeah I didn't mind it at the time but now I see it was pretty bad, oh well it changed back to our good old castle!
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has gone away, and Winnie the Pooh has replaced it (I think, correct me if I’m wrong.) nope you are absolutely correct. They do have some homages (sp?) to Mr. Toad's in it (It's in my PTR on one of the trivia of the day entries if you're interested)
20,000 Leagues has been removed, and (I think) the area now houses Ariel’s Grotto (again, correct me if I’m wrong.) – This makes me sad. I loved that ride.
The HM has a new room. Ooh I like the update, it's fun!
POTC has been renovated to include the characters of the movie that the ride inspired.Come on what could be better than Jack Sparrow!
The Tiki Room is now under new management.
I’m sure there have been things added to Toontown. I never knew it was there before. Was it? Yeah, I think it was, on my last trip or 2. I'm excited with the faeries! I can't wait to see them!

Mickey’s Philharmagic has been added. Ooo I love this one!

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor

haha that's funny!

Hey Beka,

Just found your thread for nurses. Just want to say I love your enthusiasm for nursing and hope you will always keep that. You will be a great catch for an employer once you graduate!!

Aww I didn't realize you've never seen Wishes. It's seriously amazing. Bring kleenex, you might find yourself crying a little bit!:rotfl:

Can't wait to hear how you like Jiko, it looks amazing.:goodvibes

Hey all! Sorry I've not been around much! This summer school is making me insanely busy! I go to school all day Monday (9-4), then have clinicals on Tuesday (6:45-4) & Wednesday (8:30-4:30), & Thursday I have class from 9-11a. Not to mention homework on the computer, extra articles to read, projects, papers, clinical paperwork in addition to my regular reading for class. All work & no play makes Beka a smart nurse! :rotfl:

So... I can't decide if I'll keep the Jiko reservation for the same day as AK. I'm thinking I may switch it to another day, to allow us time to stop what we're doing, go to the condo, get cleaned up, then go to dinner. What do you all think?

I say keep Jiko so you can tell us how you liked it! I've never been there but I hear it is amazing.

I agree with the previous poster....take Kleenex for Wishes!

Noted. Heck, I watched Hallowishes online & got teary-eyed.

I can't wait to eat there! Maybe if we don't spend the *whole* day at AK, then we can go back & clean up. Maybe we'll take a change of clothes, just in case.

I forgot to mention! Puppy (Matches) is doing *MUCH* better! He will almost pick his tail all the way up, and is wanting to play, and has even been eyeing the couch, like he was going to jump up on it. Of course, I won't let him! He's also been acting grumpy, which is completely normal for him! :cloud9:

(yes, he's sitting in his laundry bucket)

Way to start him early. :thumbsup2

I love the laundry bucket. :rotfl:

I wouldn't be hurt at all if his first full words were "Mickey Mouse" instead of Momma.

It was cute, I was folding laundry this morning, & had turned it on MMCH in the background (I had been watching another Disney documentary, so I was in Mouse Mode & wanted to keep it going.) Normally, Conner isn't interested in the TV unless it's Baby Einstein or a car chase, but yeah, he was playing in his laundry bucket & I guess Mickey's voice attracted him. He was transfixed. Too cute! (I've had MMCH on in the background before while he was playing, cuz I like background noise, and it might as well be kid friendly, but he wasn't ever really interested, maybe would glance up for a second or two.) ::MickeyMo

Love that picture! I have those buckets in red, haven't seen the blue but I told Sidney a few minutes ago I needed to buy more to hold their toys. :goodvibes

Have you been to the new DSO yet? I went by and didn't buy anything. I kind of wanted that Tink hoody jacket though. It was pretty cheap.

Can your DH hook a fam up for Up!?

Wish I could, but DH isn't looking for a secret shopper right now. I'll let you know when he is though!

Read on to the next post for some awesome UP stuff!

Since DH is in the movie theater business, they get sent some cool stuff from the movie companies every so often. These pics are projecitonist trading cards. Pixar always sends them, but usually DH isn't quick enough to snag them. This time he was successful! I thought I'd share a few with you:

The backs have some nifty trivia:

1) A group of 10,297 balloons carries Carl's house through the sky. However, one of the special shorts when the house lifts off for the first time has 20,622 balloons.
2) How many balloons would it take to actually fly a house? About 26.5 million.
3) Russell's backpack has 19 different pieces of gear attached, 14 of which can clang around and move independently. What's actually inside is still a mystery!
4) Lotso from Toy Story 3 can be seen sitting on the girl's bedroom floor as Carl's house passes her window. One of her other toys is the Luxo ball.
5) When Car'ls house flies over the town, the Pizza Planet truck from Toy Story can be seen in the intersection & also in the Fenton's parking lot.
6) Kevin's design is based on many birds, including: Ostrich - the legs; Heron & other large birds - behavior; Toucan, Quail & Peacock - beak and "Dongles" on his head.
7) Paradise Falls is based on the world-famous Angel Falls in Venezuela. In the film, Paradise Falls is 1.8 miles tall (9.700 ft., which is almost 3 times taller than Angel Falls at 3,212 ft.)
8) Carl wears both a belt and suspenders. His suspenders were not rendered when he wears his jacket, which means you don't see his suspenders whenever his arms are over his head!
9) The Spirit of Adventure is a dirigible, a rigid airship, and not a blimp. It is much larger than any other dirigible ever built. It is 557 ft. tall and 3,061 ft. long, that's 3.8 times longer than the Hindenburg!
10) Muntz's jacket is the first time a Pixar cloth garment has been made of fur. No CG animals were harmed during the making of this film.
11) The Fenton's Ice Cream Parlor in the movie is based on the real Fenton's restaurant in Oakland, CA.

More facts: UP is Pixar's 10th feature film. UP took 5 years to complete.

Very Cool!! Thanks for sharing that... we're seeing the movie later!

Gotto go right now Beka... off to church... but will come back later and read your entire PTR!! :thumbsup2 Cross my heart!!

Kathy

That's not brainwashing, that's just good parenting, hehe. That picture is too cute! I'm glad Matches is feeling better, hopefully he'll be his old self soon. I was debating whether or not to go see Up but everyone seems to love it so I def. think we'll have to go see it! I know I'm going to love the dog already. I love in the comercials when he is talking and suddenly yells squirrel, I always laugh because I do the same thing! (I know I'm not right in the head but hey it always makes people laugh!)

I must have missed something. What do you mean hook a family up for UP??? I am confused. :confused3:rotfl:

Never mind, I kept reading and got the answer to my own question. I see now he is in the movie theater business. Cool trading cars-great keepsake for DS when he gets older. :thumbsup2
