Injuries on theme park rides

In lieu of the recent tragedy on M:S, I was thinking: Disney rides are not the most scary or dangerous. In fact, they're fairly smooth and well put together. I have seen or ridden: rickety carnival rides like the round up and fast coasters in Universal and Six Flags that have been ten times more intense. I just don't understand why it seems that Disney is in the media for more injuries than these places, when *I* personally trust Disney rides much more. It's just confusing to me, I guess. I love Disney so much that when something terrible happens *there* it upsets me even more than usual.

Disney is a major vacation destination. The other accidents may be reported but only locally whereas something at disney is reported nationally. This should give you some measure of comfort as if it was bad and happened at disney you will hear about it. If a six flags in california has a problem I won't hear about it here in NJ.

WDW does such a generally good job of keeping guests safe, that any incident stands out. Sort of like walking into an immaculate house vs a messy one. Where would you immediately notice one particular dirty dish sitting on the counter?

We had a park around here, Action Park, that had to close due to the number of injuries at the Park.
