Is there a specific thread devoted to each resort, like there is for the regular resorts??

I'm trying to figure out between VWL, AKV, or BWV.

Also, does anyone have any preference for which resort has the best christmas decorations??

You didn't mention your intent . . . to buy or to stay at those 3 choices you listed. Well, here's our opinion of each of them:

VWL has the best Christmas decorations - we've stayed there at Christmas and loved it! Not that the others don't, but VWL is really something to see decked out for the holiday season. Very hard to book for the first few weeks of December to due it being a low point season and the Christmas decor.

BCV is probably the most relaxing - and most sought-after resort in any season.

AKV's rooms are the most beautiful, but some of the amenities . . . well, putting it as best I can . . . aren't up to what the other resorts have (no quiet pools, no real walking paths, overwhelmed fast-food service at the Mara). If you have kids, great. If you don't, I would recommend either BCV or VWL.

Sorry, we are just looking to rent points for now. I'd love to buy, but I think it will take a lot of convincing for DH to do that.

VWL is our 1st choice, but i've heard that it's gonna be hard to get into for the begining of Dec.

AKL is a big favourite of mine, but I know DH and the kids won't want to eat at Boma, so the Mara was the only dining choice, but if you say it's not good, then i guess we can cross AKV off.

Thanks!

Our guide even commented about her opinions (and other guides', guests opinions) of The Mara. "It was overwhelmed already with just Jambo house, but when Kidani opens, Kidani is having to share it with Jambo - and it is going to be insane. I don't know that they (DVC) were thinking."

The food at The Mara was OK . . . depending on your point of view. Heat-lamped pizzas, heat-lamped burgers . . . fried shrimp . . . we gave up a good meal elsewhere to eat at The Mara last trip, saying that "I bet their food's going to be great!". It was awful.

We also went at 2PM (after the lunch rush) and discovered what our guide meant by "overwhelmed". We can forgive slow service (and have come to expect it) . . . but the lady ahead of us took 20 minutes in total to get a slice of pizza and bring it back to her table for her child!

Well, we just came back from 4 days at Pop Century, and never ate at the food court there, so I guess we COULD still do AKV, but i think i'm still going to pray to theDVC reservation gods that we can get VWL.:thumbsup2

if you run into difficulties booking for dec 08, consider trying to rent for dec 09 starting in jan 09... early dec books up super fast for all the DVC resorts. booking 11 months ahead is critical unless you luck into an owner who previously made a reservation for exactly the same dates and room type that you want.

BTW, i LOVED AKV's decorations for christmas last year. i LOVED eating at boma and jiko. (too bad about mara, though, for those with kids.)

BWV didn't have a 4 story tall christmas tree like AKV and VWL, but it had some nice touches. lots of dining options on the boardwalk, too.

hope something works out for you...it's definitely great to be at disney around the holidays!
