some questions i would love suggestions on.
1. best outlets and malls or outlets that are not great
2. how much a taxi ride is to either (if youve ever taken one)
3. can i borrow a carseat from pop resort
4. distance to closest walmart from pop century and cost in taxi
thanks

1. Click the link in my signature for info on the Disney outlet stores near WDW. All three are in outlet malls with plenty of other stores. If you're taking a taxi, you can skip the Pr1me Outlets location, however, since it is the farthest away and is very similar to Orlando Premium Outlets.

2. Never taken a taxi (I always rent a car), but I believe fare is in the $15 range each way.

3. Don't know about that one.

4. Closest WalMart is on SR 535 about 1/4 mile south of the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores.

Here is a map I made with all of the WalMart, Walgreens, Publix, and Target locations near WDW, and all of the Disney outlets, as well:
Bing Map - WDW Area Shopping

I was going to post on the outlets also. We want to go to the Preminum Outlets which I believe are across the road from Downtown Disney. We won't have a car and were wondering if anyone has taken a taxi from DTD to the outlets and what the cost would be.

another question or 2
5. is the Lake Buena Vista Factory Store as good as the premium outlet, are there lots of stores and good deals here. from what i can gather this outlet mall is close to walmart and i would like togo there as well for some disney souveniers.
6. does the walmart that is close to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Store have a disney section for souveniers?

thanks, we only have a few hours to "outlet shop"...just wondering if either of the outlets have better deals or are the bargains about the same.

It's more than across the road. I'd say 2 or 3 miles.

Is Belz near Universal still open? I thought I heard it was being torn down and rebuilt.

5. LBVFS is a lower-end outlet center than OPO. You'll find cheaper stores and lower quality merchandise, but generally cheaper prices. It's similar to the difference between WalMart and Target. The Disney outlet at LBVFS is not owned by Disney, and so has different stock than the Disney-owned outlets at OPO and Pr1me. It's more hit-and-miss; sometimes it has great stuff, sometimes it has nothing but junk. But when it does have great stuff, the bargains are generally much better than those at OPO or Pr1me.

6. Not so much souveniers, but the WalMart on SR 535 has an extensive selection of Disney clothing and beach towels, at prices much cheaper than those on-site. However, the merchandise is not the same selection as on-site; it's simply a more extensive selection of the same line of Disney stuff that can be found at any non-Disney store that carries Disney clothing. It's a nice alternative, but I prefer getting actual park-branded merchandise at the Disney outlets.

If you only have a few hours, I recommend going directly to the Orlando Premium Outlets location and not trying LBVFS. The LBV location is unpredictable; if you get there and find nothing you like, you will have wasted valuable time. But you will almost always find good stuff at the OPO location.

Belz was bought, demolished, and re-built several years ago. It is now the Pr1me Outlets International, and is very similar in decor and in tennants to the Orlando Premium Outlets. If you are short on time, or if you don't have a car, you can skip Pr1ime without feeling guilty, since the vast majority of stores are the same as OPO, and inside the Disney outlet, the stock is usually about 80% identical to the Disney outlet at OPO.

There are always a few things that are unique to each Disney outlet, but since Pr1me is such a long taxi ride from WDW, I recommend skipping it unless you have plenty of time and a rental car.

thanks so much wilcad...you seem to know lots about the shopping aspect. is it possible to go to the premium outlet and walmart by taxi from wdw, if so what walmart would you suggest?
regarding the LBVFS outlet, i read it has carters and oshkosh and other stores, but are the stores smaller or just less merchandise?

It's possible to go anywhere in Orlando by taxi. The closest WalMart to WDW is the SR 535 location, which is only about 1/8 mile from LBVFS. Check the Bing map I posted earlier for the exact location.

I've never been in a Carters or Oshkosh store, but as far as I know, the stores in LBVFS are typical for each of their chains. The main difference between LBVFS and OPO is the lineup of stores, not the stuff that each store carries.

This is a great thread ...thank you!

I've never had a chance to visit the outlets during previous visits. :sad2: Staying at AKL and using the Bing map, it look's like LBV outlet is the closest. Is that right? What is a Target super store?
I just would like a few shopping/browsing hours on the "No park day".
(I will have to take a taxi, the "free shuttle from the LBV mall doesn't appear to come into Disney resorts).

if anyone can tell me if there is a walmart close to the premium outlet mall, i would appreciate it. also, has anyone taken a cab and knows the cost?

Google Mears transportation. They have a "taxi fare estimator" - it's helped me figure out the Florida Mall was much too far and expensive from WDW. ;) - not sure how accurate the fares listed are.
The bing map posted from WILLCAD is excellent.

Depends on which route you take. If you go down World Drive to US 192, then LBVFS is closer; if you cut through WDW property on Buena Vista Drive, then both stores are about the same distance from AKL.

Never been to a Super Target, but I assume that it's similar to a Super WalMart, with a full grocery section added to the typical retail section.

The WalMart Supercenter on SR 535 is pretty close to the Orlando Premium Outlets mall.

Sorry, I can't help with taxi fare, as I always rent a car. But you can try the taxi fare estimator that Sage mentioned:

i did the cab fare thing, but there are no premium outlets listed.

For places that are not listed in the drop-down list, you have to enter the street address.

The street address of the WalMart of SR 535 is:
3250 Vineland Road
Kissimmee, FL 34746

The street address of the Orlando Premium Outlets is:
8200 Vineland Ave
Orlando, FL 32821-6811

I entered these into the fare finder and it came back with approximately 4 miles, fare approximately $10.41.
