Info on the Ellen attraction.

Well I don't know her personally or anything like that. She did an appearance at a horror movie convention back in November 2012 - "HorrorHound Weekend" in Indianapolis, and she promoted it as her first and last convention appearance and gave all the proceeds to the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. I knew 95% of the people there would want to ask her about "Halloween" or "True Lies", and I know from going to plenty of other conventions that these celebs tend to have a lot more to say when you ask them about something they haven't already talked about a million times, so naturally the most obscure thing that I could think of that she's been in is "Ellen's Energy Adventure", so I had my graphic designer roommate whip me up that poster to get signed. She thought it was hilarious (it was her suggestion to autograph it in the form of a question like on 'Jeopardy') and had to explain to her assistant what it was when he didn't know. I gave her a copy of it and she said she couldn't wait to show it to people.

Her brother was there filming her convention experience and she said the video would be released at some point. Apparently she had asked him to pull aside and briefly interview anybody who had especially interesting unique or obscure items, so I got asked a few questions about it. I'm eager for them to get around to releasing that!

I had a blast explaining "Ellen's Energy Adventure" to all the JLC fans who asked me about the poster and had no idea she'd ever been in a Disney attraction.

Sorry to kinda hijack the thread there. Long story short - You should definitely ride it at least once! :thumbsup2

I got a message from a friend last night, apparently footage from that convention with Jamie Lee Curtis was used in the special features on the new "Halloween" blu-ray release, and I'm featured talking about "Ellen's Energy Adventure". On a release of "Halloween" of all things, lol. "Stupid Judy" has been immortalized! :lmao:

If you have not done the attraction I recommend it. If you have done the attraction, it would depend on what all you want to accomplish at EPCOT that day. This will take a good chunk of time. Not really boring as just a bit long. We went with 2 DD 11 and they enjoyed it. It is not a can't miss attraction, but it is not a must miss either.

Not a bad ride. Always like to ride this in the late afternoon when I'm starting to get tired. It's a nice break from walking, air conditioned and informative.

However, never do this ride in the morning due its length - ride all the headliners first! Enjoy this ride in the afternoon/evening when you need to slow down a bit.

This is always my mid-late day, "I'm tired and want some a/c" ride. It's a nice nap lol. I don't find it exciting but it is a nice place to relax.

That's neat!!!
Thanks for sharing your experience! :thumbsup2

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this attraction. It's relaxing and interesting. I'm surprised by how many people don't like it. I've always thought the part with the dinosaurs is so cool. One of my favorites.

This is my favorite ride at Epcot! I'm wondering how everyone sleeps on it though? There isn't anywhere to lean your head on? I've wanted to take a quick nap on it before, but had nowhere to lay my head LOL. (My kids are amazed at my ability to sleep at Disney)

My Dad is my headrest:lmao: He doesn't seem to mind. We usually hit this one in the afternoon to take a breather and I usually fall asleep through it. During the EPCOT 30 anniversary celebration, they talked about how this ride was designed and I never realized that it was installed with solar panels which help power the vehicles. Granted they are not great solar panels but to use them to help power a ride in 1982 seemed impressive to me.

While the content in the attraction is actually interesting, I just find 40 minutes too long to be at one attraction. We also nap while we're in there, but cause we want to - its air conditioned and comfortable and good for an afternoon break if you're planning on staying out.

I remember ridding it when I was 16. I had no idea what it was but we were hot and needed a break from the sun so we jumped at the chance to sit and cool down. I like it but the film felt old even then and I am now 22 so I can only imagine how old the ride feels now:lmao: Disney should refilm a couple of their attractions like honey I shrunk the kids, the muppets, pirates of the caribeen, jungle cruise:confused3

Sure it'd take a while but those rides date the park something awful.

It's pretty explicit that once the ride vehicles start moving, you CANNOT leave the ride. The entire ride has to be evacuated and reset if that happens. Use the loo before you board...

When I was little I was deathly afraid of the dinosaurs on this ride hahaha!:rotfl:

The ride is VERY long and our last trip, multiple people were falling asleep/reading maps/checking their phones haha, I think it's gotten to the point that if you have seen it once, you are there again more for the air conditioning break! ;)

There are 4 reasons to ride this attraction: Ellen, Alex Trabek (w/mustache), Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Honestly, you could just watch the preshow and skip the attraction and get some good laughs. It is along ride and depending on what car you're in, you can wait a while for the final scene.

Was my least favorite attraction on my last trip. Drew Carey was close. That's closed, luckily. Energy needs a complete overhaul imho. I won't go back even to cool down or nap.

Just a tip about the attraction. Portions of it can be very loud, at least to me. I don't want to spoil anything for you! After the preshow film, and after I take my seat in the ride vehicle, I put some foam earplugs in my ears. I enjoy it a LOT more with earplugs. I agree with those who have said it's a great attraction, although dated. I still really like it! Remember to use the restroom before you enter the attraction & don't stand up after the ride portion begins. And have a good time!
