DH (in a fit of optimism!) arranged a BBQ for next Saturday, fortunately with the proviso "indoors if wet". Its got quite chilly and rainy here now, so even if it is dry I think we'll be inside. Trouble is I'm a bit devoid of inspiration what to serve.
I've done buffets around Christmas, and I know I'll be serving broccoli dip (a big favourite with the crowd coming!) with blackberry and apple crumble/ice cream for afters, and I was going to get in some quiches, sausage rolls and so on. I'm not going to cook burgers and sausages as I don't want to stand over them, so does anyone have any ideas for good, prepare-ahead warm/hot savoury dishes which kids will also eat? If I can make them the day before and freeze/chill even better, as DH is working in the morning
. Added complication - godson does not eat pork (loves smoked salmon, which none of the other kids will eat
).
We can't get chilled croissant dough or pizza dough so most of my Pampered Chef standbys are out
TIA!
ETA i should have said the kids tend to wander off and eat in front of the playstation, so "pick-up" /casual type food is what I'm thinking ;-)
