So I know IJA is amazing, but what is the motion like? Would it be nauseating for someone who gets mild motion sickness? I love Test Track at WDW, Soarin' over California, Pirates, etc., how does the motion compare to these?

I've never done Dinosaur, so I don't have a good gauge.

For me at least, if Soaring doesn't bother you then IJA won't. Soaring can make me slightly motion sick, but POTC and IJA don't.

I highly disagree. Soarin is way smooth, Indy is extremely bumpy and jerky. It's like a combination between Test Track and Star Tours (w/o the screen, I meant the type of motion of the Star Tours pod is similar to the motion of an Indy vehicle, just Indy is on a track)

Iget motion sickness on many attractions, Star Tours, Roller Coasters, tea cups, ferris wheels etc. I get a bit sick in a couple places on Soarin but I can handle it. I can ride Indianna Jones a couple times on every trip. I get some mild sickness but not enough to stop me fro going.

With Soaring for me I think its watching the movie while moving it just makes me a little queasy for some reason, and anything that goes in a circle like Dumbo or the Teacups I can't ride those at all. IJA while its jerky it doesn't bother me.

I can't do the teacups or rides that spin. I do get motion sickness on some of the others. I take dramamine every day when I'm at an amusement park.

I can't do the teacups, and haven't been on soarin. I always save Indiana Jones for the last ride, because it is VERY jerky, and sometimes I do feel ill on it.

IJA is totally jerky and I was holding on for dear life! I didn't enjoy the ride because I was so concerned (even with the seatbelt) that I was going to be tossed out of the vehicle! I'm not sure I will ever ride it again (although it is visually stunning--just would like an alternative of a smoother ride to enjoy it and not feeling like I'm being hurtled from place to place).

I often feel a little "sick" after IJA, but it's not the typical "motion sickness", like what happens on a cruise ship or whatever. It's more like feeling tired from hanging on for dear life for 5 minutes. Actually, I think it's kind of like riding a mechanical bull. ;-)

Anyway... You know those water bottle holders with the velcro safety release? I once rode IAJ with one of those around my neck. I totally forgot to take it off and put it in the little pouch (my bad). One of the sudden motions was strong enough to have the strap's velcro give way, and the bottle went sliding off into the darkness. (yikes)

BTW, I often see my wife holding herself sports-bra style while on the ride.

So yeah, it's bumpy, but I love it, and I ride it each time I'm at the park.

I love Indiana Jones. I don't think you could get motion sickness on this ride. It doesn't do dips and such, more like tight corners, bumps, etc. Glad to hear you like Test Track. I was a little nervous about that as I don't like roller coaster type rides. They don't make me sick, I just don't like the sensation.

I love the ride, and I never hold on. I just put myself into good posture and go with the flow of the ride. It actually makes me feel better after the ride.

On the other hand, my brother and SIL, both younger, thinner, and fitter than I am, can only go on it once, and will feel awful if forced to go on it again (like I did to SIL when we did child swap the very first time, before I realized the beauty of riding by myself). And if they go on Indy and Matterhorn in the same day, their backs are toast.

But they both hold on, and like I said, I don't.

But I think everyone's experience is soooo different and bodies are different, so the only way to know how you deal with it is to try it yourself (perhaps picking up some ice packs from First Aid ahead of time just in case?). :)

Dh and I both hate Indiana Jones. It's just way too jerky for us. It's really the only ride besides the sunwheel, we don't like to do. Unfortunately for us, ds loves this ride. Dh and i usually end up rock-paper-scissoring to determine who has to go with him.

I don't get motion sick (despite intermittent vertigo due to a long-past virus) but I, like others have mentioned, just didn't enjoy IJ because it was just way too herky-jerky. It is REALLY bumpy. And I so didn't think it was worht the wait. (For some reason, even with FP, both DH and I- separately- had to wait about 40 minutes last week when nothing else other than Nemo was more than a 10 minute wait.)

The visual on this is hysterical! "You go with him" "NO-YOU go with him." NO-YOU GO WITH HIM." "ok--let's have a contest to decide . . . . "

This video might be able to help you get a "feel" for it:

It's not rough at all. Some tight turns, ups and downs. Bumpy. My father, who usually gets a mild case of motion sickness (though usually on bigger rides) was perfectly fine with this one. I'm never bothered by any--(ah, the joys of youth). :goodvibes

Personally, I love the ride. I think any motion sickness you may get is worth it. :D

That's exactly what happens with dh and I. I've been lucky to only have lost a few times. And if all else fails, we have ds chose who he wants to ride with him. 8 out of 10 times, dh gets chosen. Dd and I hang out at the Tiki room while the boys are on the ride.

Years ago, I rode IJA with my mom probably 9 times in a row right before the park closed. It was great every time. I didnt get sick once.

I was really disappointed in the ride. It didn't give dd any problems with motion sickness but she didn't like it. I found it to be pretty bumpy and uncomfortable and would probably not ride it again.

Basically think of driving across a washboard dirt road at a about 35-40 mph, and then do a few sharp turns and a little swerving. I think that is probably the best way to explain the ride.

It is not like soar'n or Star Tours since those make many people sick from the brains slight feeling of disconect from what they are seeing. I split second reaction off can be small enough for some to sense something is off.

I love IJA and the only thing I ever hated about the ride was when I had long hair the person behind me always seemed to get my hair stick in their death grip pulling it OUCH!!! My short hair now is much better for the ride. :)
