Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

There's no cleverness in our team name! We hemmed and hawed, and slept and thought. Nothing came to mind so this team name works for us. Our relay team name is really unique...Ted n Lily

We'll be there though and that's what counts!
:yay:.

Well said, Lily.....I actually think it's kinda sweet!

That is what's holding up my registration! We need to come up with 5 different team names and nobody wants to commit. I think my husband and daughter are going to be Team K-O (knockout....because of their initials) Everyone else is up in the air. My older daughter wants to be Team Eff U, but that's not gonna fly with Disney (such lovely children......) My son and I picked out a name and everyone else says it's stupid, so you can see we're getting nowhere fast. I love "Cheese and Quackers" .....so clever! Why can't I ever come up with something like that.

If they want to go with something that might get past the censors go with 3M TA3 and look at the bib in the mirror :thumbsup2

I KNOW!!! I was so freaked out about that I backed out of the registration process until I could come up with something. Two weeks and 20 other peoples input later, we are registered for the relay.

Have you registered yet?

No, we haven't registered just yet. I think I'm ready though. I've got my first 5K of the season on April 24th. I think maybe I'm waiting for that to be sure I can finish a 5K again! But I'm training..and there's still 6 months to go...I'll be fine (right?)!

What's your team name?

Oh, I love that. Maybe doing a race together is a new sneaky way to get DH back to Disney and turn him into a mouselover!

Oh see - there's a good tag - "Wants DH be a Mouselover"

We are Team "Run for the Senses." I wanted to be "Run for the Senseless" because you need to be senseless to run at 10:00 at night! :lmao:

OMG, I LOVE IT!!!!!!! And you just opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for me! Just for the record, is that name taken? You never know if one of our 5 will want to snatch it up.

It isn't taken by me so I doubt it. I got the idea because I used to work with someone that had that license plate. There are a world of possibilities that open up if you use the mirror trick.

My DH's online screenname, email addie, etc. is "darknbitter", and since it refers to beer, coffee, chocolate, etc., in addition to women *grins*, I agreed it made a good team name for the wine and dine race - so we're team darknbitter.

(yes, i've come close to making a disney convert out of him. Then I'm forcing him to change his name to sunnynsweet :rotfl:)

Once he converts he can just be a grumpy or donald fan!
I'll keep an eye out for ya Team Darknbitter!

So, our 20/30/40 pin arrived today, which means we are officially going!

Now, where to stay? Hmmm...

And, are we assuming MNSSHP is 10/1?

If you register for Mickey's Halloween 5K, you get a ticket to MNSSHP on Sunday the 3rd included with registration.

That would be great, but we have to be home Sunday night.

More stupid questions:

Since the race is at night, is there any advantage to staying at at host resort?

How warm/humid is it at night usually in October? I'm figuring out what I'm going to be the most comfortable running in (which from what I've been reading about how hot it is in October, would be nothing ). Will the race still go on if it's pouring down rain? I don't have a problem running in the rain just asking :).

Transportation to the expo is the only one I can think of.

Since the event ends late it isn't inconceivable that the only buses going from the after party to the resorts will be to the host hotels.

The last 3 years it has been in the 70's at 9:00pm in WDW. In 2007 it was just under 80 so I think it will be a warm temp for a half but since the sun won't be beating down on us it won't feel as bad as the same temp during the day.

I anticipate running in only short, something that might be frowned upon by some for the female runners, just not by me.

I would imagine the greatest benefit would be that there is a bus to get you back to the resort at the end. The park will be closed, obviously, so if you're not at a host resort and aren't renting/bringing a car you'll have to find another way to get back to your resort (like a taxi).

Thanks... I'm thinking we may do the taxi or rental thing. We got burned by DME (lost our luggage) last trip, and if we're only going for 3 days/2 nights, may not want to risk that happening again.

Is the after party AT EPCOT?

I'm renting a car, partially because I want the freedom and partially because I'm not sure how the availability of taxis will be at 3:30 in the morning.

Yeah, I'm probably getting a rental too. Since I'm now going on a solo trip I definitely don't feel comfortable riding in a taxi alone that late at night. I've only used DME once and I prefer to rent a car (I like to be able to get off the plane, grab a car, and go instead of waiting in line to check in, waiting in another line for the bus, waiting for everyone and all of their stuff to get on the bus, waiting to get to the resort, waiting to get my luggage after I'm at the resort, and waiting for DME 3 hours before my flight back. I'm kind of impatient ;) ).

Thanks! You're right, those temps aren't as bad since the sun won't be up.

:rotfl: If I did just wear shorts see what you'd be missing not being towards the back of the pack??
