Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

I'm not sure about how filled they are with the special rate. Check around though. You might be able to find a better rate on your own. When I called just to check and see what the AAA rate would be it turned out I had a pin code attached to my name that I had no idea about. I booked one of the host resorts (Beach Club) for about 35% off. The deal was much better than the rate Disney Endurance was offering.

Agreed, that rate is per person based on double occupancy as well. It didn't look like a great deal to me. :confused3

Does anyone know if any of the host resorts are filled up (as far as they're out of the promo rooms)? I really don't want to deal with having to get a cab (especially riding one by myself at 3 a.m.) so I was thinking it would just be easier to stay at a "host" resort (since I really don't want to rent a car either). I see they have special pricing for the host resorts and was open to the Poly or Beach Club. Also, when I call to book, what do I need? A confirmation number that I've registered? Thanks for any help!

To book the discounted rooms you call (407) WDW-IRUN. There might be better discounts available but since you are going solo the per occupant discount they have on the endurance site might make sense.

Does anyone know how much of a discount the discounted tickets are? I'm putting together my budget but didn't want to register yet as I want to submit my time from an upcoming race but was interested in getting a 2 day ticket (as I still have a day and a bunch of extras on my old non-expiry pass). Somehow my long weekend trip has turned into 5 nights and 6 days...:rolleyes1

 Hi everyone! As usual, I'm late to the party, but I have also signed up for the wine and dine 1/2. It will be my first 1/2 marathon (and my first run in particular - so far; I'm considering trying to find a 5k or 10k to do over the summer).

I'm really looking forward to this run and also to hearing about everyone's training experiences and such in the upcoming months!

A kind DISer sent me prices for the discounted tickets (5 day hoppers for $214.09). Can anyone tell me if the prices include tax?

Thanks!

Mrs D - I don't think it does because the Princess 09 price fro 5-day hoppers with tax (and the racer discount) was $222.

The discounted prices do not include tax (6.5%) or shipping if you want them mailed to your home. They are still an awesome price.

Do any of you guys know if you can add no-expiration to the discounted tickets? I know it would be extra but is it prohibited because of the discounted price?

I need to get a parkhopper for January and want one that will last a few trips. If you can't add it I'll look at some of the Mouse Savers discounts.

Thanks.

I don't know about this ticket type in particular, but my understanding is discounted/special tickets aren't upgradable as far as turning them into APs.

The discounted tickets expire 14 days after first use or by Dec 31st according to an email I've received from a Disney Sports rep.

Frank - have you considered getting an AP for your Oct and Jan trips? Depending on how long you stay/how many days you plan to be in the parks it might be cheaper to do that - and there is always the chance to get an AP discount on your room.

I'm currently checking daily waiting for AP rates to be released for the October trip. I'm coming with DD Erin and her friend. It will be their first half.....should be interesting. Erin is athletic, but has never been into distances, but after we volunteered at Chicago's Shamrock Shuffle (got GAD passes) she mentioned that she just might have to give running a chance since she noticed that a lot of cute guys run. Ha! All she has to do is keep up with her walking mom in October!

Frank - If you were to take two separate 5-day trips in the same year and buy 5-day hoppers each time, an AP would be a good deal. That is without taking into consideration the race discounted tickets though.

Actually it wouldn't work for me. I am only going to the parks one day in Oct (flying down on Fri and back on Sun) and have a voucher for that day already. I would have bought the tix and used 3 or 4 days in January. I need it to last more then a year because I may not be back down in 2011. I have a trip I am anticipating to Europe that year and it will wipe out the travel budget.

I could probably spread a 7 or 10 ticket over a couple of years. My last 7 day lasted me almost 3 years because I do a lot of short one or two day trips when I go. I love Disney but long trips are usually somewhere else. I mean, there are still a lot of states I need to do a run in. :goodvibes

I'm so excited for this race, but I haven't signed up yet because I too have other things to pay for first. This will be my second half marathon and my fourth Disney race! The last RFTT was a great experience and I'm looking forward to the new race course for this half marathon. Although, I'm a little sad they are only giving us 1 "sip" and 1 "taste" option when previous years we were given more :sad1: Hopefully the medal makes up for that! Good luck to everyone signed up! :cheer2:

Are there any relay team people willing to share their team name?? My friend Cathy and I have registered for the relay. Our team name is 'Cheese and Quackers'. We figured the 'Cheese' goes with the Wine & Dine theme and the 'Quackers' is for Donald Duck.

I KNOW!!! I was so freaked out about that I backed out of the registration process until I could come up with something. Two weeks and 20 other peoples input later, we are registered for the relay.

Have you registered yet?

That is what's holding up my registration! We need to come up with 5 different team names and nobody wants to commit. I think my husband and daughter are going to be Team K-O (knockout....because of their initials) Everyone else is up in the air. My older daughter wants to be Team Eff U, but that's not gonna fly with Disney (such lovely children......) My son and I picked out a name and everyone else says it's stupid, so you can see we're getting nowhere fast. I love "Cheese and Quackers" .....so clever! Why can't I ever come up with something like that.

There's no cleverness in our team name! We hemmed and hawed, and slept and thought. Nothing came to mind so this team name works for us. Our relay team name is really unique...Ted n Lily

We'll be there though and that's what counts!
:yay:.
