It still raises the question though - why did you fail? Will it happen again?

Rich::

He has no choice but to answer that question---he may not be getting back in office....but you've got many critical voting states...who care just a "little" ;) about their safety and responses to disasters that are natural or manmade.

(funny pic btw!)

I'm getting dizzy from the :rolleyes1 spin!!!!!!!

Do people really think he is so evil that he would willingly let people die? I guess I could never believe that any president - Dem or Rep. would ever let American people die.

Did you ever hear of a country called Iraq!!!!!!!!

I don't believe he is evil. I don't believe he would willingly let people die.

Presidents have declined to negotiate with those taking American hostages though - who have subsequently died.

Iraq? Yes, I've heard of it. :rolleyes1

IMHO too many Americans, coalition troops, and civilians have died based on misinformation/lies.

Well done Prezzie Bush for having accepted responsibility -

Rich::

I would think it appropriate to refer to our President as 'President'
Don't you?

Sometimes I call him that. If I'm feeling nice.

If I met him in person (which I wouldn't want to), I would address him as that. But just talking about him - usually I call him Bush or W.

I'd probably say something really bad and end up in handcuffs. heh :rotfl:

It is really a shame that you feel that way. i would wager that most Americans have a greater sense of history and pride in our country to refer to our current president with the respect that the office is entitled. Regardless of your political affiliation. I would shudder to think of people casualy refering to 'prezzie Roosevelt or prezzie Lincoln'

That's a shame? I'll reconsider when our troops are home from Iraq. K? :earboy2:

You must have slept through the 8 years President Clinton was in office.

I was unaware that this was a thread about bringing back our troops from Iraq. How silly I feel. I thought is about our President taking responsibility for the federal reponse to the hurricane. Carry on....

Even when he was impeached ( no pun intended ) he was refered to as " President" Clinton. But, I digress, and hijack. I apologize.

I started the thread and it was about Bush taking responsibility for the federal response. However, subsequent posts have questioned my views about him as a person, and I am answering them. :wave2:

Yes, he lied about an affair. Bush lied about WMDs. Hmmm... which is the priority?

Betsy,
You seem to be all over the place. Affairs, WMD's, Iraq, even handcuffs!!
Why not call this thread what it is instead of trying to defend it as simple 'responses' to others?
If you would be honest perhaps you could have a meaningful discourse concerning the issues instead of the rather lowbrow bushy bushy comments.

Aren't you the comedian? :rolleyes:

You want me to rename my thread based on comments on the last few pages? NOT

Based on some of the comments posted on my thread, I replied - and even tried to be a little silly. If you don't like it, kindly move along. They are opinions, all relational to my opinion of Bush's response to the hurricane.

I have meaningful discourse when I feel the situation is worthy of it.

Have a lovely evening, Shrubby. :wave2:

So true.....

I am very open about my opinion about Bush. I wouldnt trust him to babysit my pet fish, let alone run a country. HOWEVER, I was very happy to hear he took responsibility for the federal response to Katrina. It was the right thing to do. Whether for publicity, ratings, or sincerity, I dont care. I am just glad that he acknowledged the errors in the federal response.

But seriously folks,

I do admire Bush for stepping up to the plate and accepting responsibility. Now I fully expect some additional acknowledgement from the local and state officials about their failures in the near future.

Our honorable President Bush (that's for you, Shrubber) really impressed me today - first time since 9/11. That's saying a lot for me.
