In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Good Morning!

Quiet day planned here today. Yeah!

Realized I never posted my food yesterday so here it is in it's full 'glory'

b - jc oatmeal with blueberries, Greek yogurt
s - 1/2 pb an j while bikingand cliff's shot bloks
l - two slices of watermelon, 1/2 orange, 1 peanut butter cookie andthe other 1/2 of my pb and j ( post ride)
s - Luna bar & strawberries
d - two slices of pizza and a small salad
s - iced nonfat chai anda blueberry sconefrom starbucks

not my best day... But I am back on today!

I'm looking at that food, and wondering how you feel today? After that very long, challenging training ride I'm sure my body would be simply screaming for calories!

boys are off on their adventure for the week. I'm enjoying my coffee before I get full-on into projects for the day :surfweb:

Nancy - I woke up hungry this mornng but not in that I'm going to start chewing on the furniture kind of way. I had my normal breakfast of jc cereal, blueberries and skim milk and am doing alright now.

I find that I struggle with eating the day of and the day after my ride so I am trying to be very conscious of how I am feeling and what I am eating so that I can plan accordingly.

Off to church. Talk to you all later.

Good morning! Hanging around the house again today. No heavy lifting still for me, so getting laundry finished has been interesting. Ryan has been my transport guy. :lmao: Last night, a friend had a pre-birthday get together. I am genetically pre-disposed to bringing something to munch on at this type of function. I didn't put any effort into it at all. I grabbed some fat free cream cheese from the store and low sugar blueberry jam from the farmer's market. By the time I got home, the cheese was perfect for hand mixing. I mixed cheese and jam with a splash of blackberry brandy to thin it down a tad. It was a very yummy fruit and gingersnap dip.

I find the same thing Paula. The day after the run I am fine, but I have to really, really watch the day of, or I will eat absolutely everything that comes in my path

Also, without specifics, I would put that day in the 1600-2000 calorie range, which isn't too bad.

My strategy lately (which seems to be working), is to eat a protein heavy 140-200 cal snack, and an entire 32 oz powerade zero, within 30 min of finishing. My fav lately is the Kashi honey almond bar, but the luna bars would work too. Then my next two meals are really high volume low calorie stuff.

I think that refueling all day after long exercise like Paula and I do every Sat AM is important if you are at or near your goal weight. However, I tend to think that, for those of us with more than 20 lbs left to drop, stopping at the before, during, and post-exercise snack and then going back to plan for the day, won't hurt and will definitely help with weight loss.

EE, that sounds great!!

Kat - it was yummy with absolutely no effort. I didn't even try to get all the lumps out. Big hit.

So I actually felt like making lunch again. Woo Hoo! I sense a pattern.

Bulgar Wheat
Assorted veggies
Tribe Hummus
Baba Ghanoush (pre-made and only 12 cal per tablespoon!)
Balsamic
FF Feta & 2 pretzels crumbled on top

Strange concoction, but it was so yummy! I had a black bean veggie patty on the side.

Hi gals...

Spent the day at camp today and did nothing but read. It was heavenly. Hunger levels were a little off kilter, but not crazy.

Here is my food for the day:

b - jc cereal w/ blueberries and skim milk
l - two eggs scrambled w/ wheat toast and bacon (yum) oh and a few of my sister's homefries. God I love breakfast foods...
s - fruit salad
d - pork tenderloin w/ salad and carrots
s - jc white cheddar popcorn

I may grab some fruit in a few to ward off some hunger pangs that will inevitably come.

Amiee - will you come cook for me? Your menus sound so much more inventive than mine these days... :rolleyes1

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Paula I love breakfast foods too. I love weekends because I can make brunch, and a lot of breakfast foods have low-cal substitutes.

Okay, food for today:
B: Coffee
L: Breakfast scramble - green pepper, mushroom, 1 slice chopped RF bacon, onion, egg beaters (50), blueberry pancakes (160), bagel thin (110), 2 tbsp homemade smoked salmon spread (40)
D: Pimiento cheese sandwich on whitewheat (160), 2% velveeta mac&cheese (180), 1 serving ff pringles (70)
S: 3 St Pauli Girls (430)

Total, 1200
Exercise, 1 hour ice hockey
Water, 96 oz.

Breakfast does rock Kat. We have upside down nights frequently. Paula - I just throw things together most of the time, but keep notes just in case.

Happy Monday All

I love an egg beater omelet with broccoli and cheese, had it yesterday YUMMMY!!

I am mad at myself for not running, I have been busy with the girls and Saturday I did Elliptical and Push Ups and Sit ups, with plans to run on Sunday, but we went to the zoo instead, (so did everyone else in the State)
it was horrible.

But I found in our Park Distinct book that they are starting a running club, I am going to call this mooring to get more info. I can use all the help I can get.

Read some of Marathons for Mortals I am going to do their run/walk plan.
If I can ever get my butter butt on the treadmill.

Breakfast rocks. (unless you eat too much bacon thereby giving yourself a tummy ache ;))

Shorter, easy workout for me today. I need to get painting! I started in Nate's room yesterday, moving furniture, vacuuming those "never see daylight" spots like behind the bookshelf, under the dresser, etc. got the woodwork taped (because there is no WAY I'm going to paint without protecting the woodwork first!), pulled out the dropclothes and primer (because the bottom 1/2 of his room is currently dark green) and discovered that my boys had packed every last paint roller that we own and taken them on their trip. <sigh> So, a quick workout, a stop at the hardware store and now I *think* I'm ready to prime! :thumbsup2

Nancy, why did they need paint rollers? :confused3

The scale was quite nice to me this morning. 174.6. So, that is 4 lbs down from two weeks ago, and, umm, like 8-9 down from last week's disaster of a weigh in. Total loss of 43.2.

I went through the "thin" drawer in my 2nd bedroom yesterday, and rescued some 12s that now fit (some don't... I appear to be between 12 and 14 right now?). I am wearing one pair of them, and I was told I am looking "thin" by the only other woman around here which made me feel good.

From now until Sept 15th is maintenance mode. If I am still 175 by then, I will be thrilled. I have too much going on between then and now to expect much of a loss, and I want to enjoy my trips and such. My plan is to eat healthy in between events, but to enjoy the events with no worries.

This sounds yummy. What all do you use the dip fo. Is it good for most fruits or do you find some that do not go well with it?
Laurie

this is the mission trip - the same thing where last year they were in N.C. - where they go and rehab houses for the elderly, disabled, etc. They don't know what their specific assignments will be until they get there, so they need to take all sorts of tools & supplies with them.

I was told I am looking "thin" by the only other woman around here which made me feel good.

Awesome! :thumbsup2 With a weight loss total like that I'm sure you are looking like a skinny b*tch!

Again. Awesome. :goodvibes

I don't know much about that dip, but Hi Laurie!

GREAT GREAT GREAT Job Kat on the loss!!!:worship::worship:

Nancy, You are my hero to be the one painting. I don't think I ever could OMG I would make a mess of everything:rotfl:

Laurie, I can't help you with Dips, Kat and Amiee are great at making low fat dips.

I just have to post this.

I called on that running club from the park dist. and get this $35.00 from Aug-Jan, I get to use their gym, they have lap pool, indoor track and everything else, and the best part, is they have child care. $1.50 per kid.
So even if DH works and its a long run I can go!!!!! I am so unbelievably happy!!!!!

information meeting Aug 2, I can't wait!!!

Sorry to interrupt you programming, I just could not help myself!

That sounds AWESOME Jo!! I am so excited for yoU! :yay:

Laurie, I also used it with some cracker thins, Ginger snaps, etc. This might be a little out there, but celery was good too. It was really good with grapes, strawberries, apples (granny smith were the best). Hope that helps.

Thank you Kat,
I so need a running club/group. I could use the help.
From reading your posts it sounds like it will be fun and help me make it to the end of that 1/2 (without having to inchworm):lmao:
