So, my story. I had the whole crazy tale typed out last night but the dang system updates messed me up. So tonight it's the condensed version. Here goes.

We were supposed to be going to 2 events last night. First was a 4H awards dinner. The plan was to leave there, stop at home super quick to drop off the kids, "regroup" and head back out again. Easy.

Not so much. We left the dinner and headed home (in a snow storm) as planned- got there around 8:30 which was perfect. We were home maybe 5 minutes when an unfamiliar car pulled into our driveway. um, ok? Could be anyone really.....but no one seemed to be coming to the door....this was a bit strange, so Stephen went out into the garage (which we had left wide open since we were headed right out again). A few minutes later he stuck his head in the door and called for me to come out. This woman, whom neither of us knew, was headed right on into my house. With pizza. Two of them actually. She had what I would describe as a *glazed* look in her eyes. Definitely out there somewhere. We tried to ask her where she was looking for, whose house she was headed to....she really didn't say much. Just looked annoyed with us for giving her a hard time about going in. She finally did give me a name that she was looking for (not me...nor any of my neighbors for that matter). No address, no nothing, no words. Just....dazed confusion. She headed back to her car and was going to drive away (in the snow storm) - Something was definitely not right. She wasn't stumbling/staggering/slurring like she was drunk, but....really. She was not.there. It was so unsettling that I decided to call the police. I would rather have them check out something that turned out to be nothing, than not call and have someone get hurt. So 911 it was as she tried to leave the driveway. I gave them the license plate, vehicle description & direction of travel. A few minutes later an officer showed up to talk to us - we gave him the whole WIERD story (which involves her intrigue with my cat as well...) He wanted to know if we wanted to file a complaint (breach of peace, tresspassing)- nope. We just want everyone to be safe, and frankly we don't feel she is. While he was here, we heard on his radio that they located the car and we heard the address. So, after the officer left we looked up the address, and the name that she had told me that she was going to. She was *closer* to the right place this time, but not quite there! I have no idea what her deal was, or whether or not she's in any kind of trouble, but after all that mess, we just decided to stay home.

I was on the great "button down white shirt that doesn't look like an old lady" hunt yesterday afternoon with Becca. <bleh> She needs it for her many upcoming choral performances. Do stores in your area close early on Sunday's? Here they close at 6:00. We squeeked inte American Eagle at 5:59 and she found one - $40! for a stupid shirt that I'm telling you now, she will never.wear.ever. other than these 5-6 events in the next 2 weeks. This is what happens when you wait until the very last second to look for the danged shirt.

Day off from work today My plan is to do a fair amount of on-line shopping. Look out Amazon, here I come

Nancy--I don't know which is crazier...the weird woman with the pizzas or that you have a day off from work! Seriously, I would have done the same thing. That is super creepy and definitely not safe.

Jeff went to work today, so that is good. Kelly and I changed his dressing last night (have I mentioned that about Kel? Don't think so. She is so into anything medical. Anyone in the family who ever needs even a band-aid, she is ON IT. She is determined to be a doctor when she grows up and I really hope she does. She is so well suited to it). Anyway, I prepared her for how it was going to look and told her if she thought she might be grossed out then she shouldn't do it. She looked at me like I had two heads. So off we go to change the dressing. She was totally into it, which made Jeff laugh which was good. What a difference just 24 hours made. Already looking better. Though he made the mistake of looking in the mirror--he thought it looked awful and I was like, "no, it is way better than last night," which pretty much horrified him.

Tonight is my last night on campus! WOO HOO! Final exam week! Love finals week. So happy. Just giving 2 exams tonight (which means I just sit and play on my iPhone pretending that I am e-mailing and working when really I am reading fanfic. And I already posted all of my online exams. I am not officially done until next week Friday, but things will start to get significantly easier after this Friday. So I will be out straight for the next 5 days and then down time!

Speaking of my iPhone...THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT!

The DIS just released its App for the iPhone today. It's called eTicket. I just bought it and downloaded it. I LOVE IT ALREADY. OMG, it makes posting to the boards from my phone a breeze! Plus, it has all of the feature of the DIS on it. Not just the boards, but all reviews for hotels, restaurants, attractions, menus for restaurants, park hours, parade times, etc. Really, all of the planning information you use the DIS for is now available on your iPhone and it is designed very well. Super easy.

She is determined to be a doctor when she grows up and I really hope she does. She is so well suited to it).

That's so awesome. I think kids that have dealt with severe medical issues have a special empathy. My gf's daughter had major problems as a baby, and her younger life was definitely not easy. Now she's a senior in HS, heading off to nursing school next fall. She wants to be a pediatric O.R. nurse.

Exams! Yikes! I gotta get a care package in the mail!

Hey everyone, hope you all had a fabulous weekend.....

Still going strong "on" today! We made breakfast burritos this weekend and froze a bunch so it'll be easier for me to grab something while running out the door in the morning. Red green and yellow bell peppers, potatoes, egg whites (my dad had a FIT about that lol), turkey sausage, and mine were made with corn tortillas rather than flour, and tomatoes, since my dad can't have them. Ate a clementine with it (trying to wean myself off the oj, aren't yall proud of me?!) and a bottle of water. For lunch, sauteed veggies with brown rice. Feeling good!!!! Got a good amount of exercise Saturday night walking around looking at the streets of Denver while waiting for the parade of lights. My knees are really giving me trouble in the cold though...wondering....is 24 too young for arthritis lol...

My December has started off about the same as November, despite my high hopes that there would be no more bad news coming. We went to see the parade of lights Saturday with some friends (it was a frigid 10 degress so we didn't stay the whole time). I got there and realized a part of our group of friends was missing......Ashley and Tim....found out that Ashley's sister died Saturday. Her 14 year old daughter was practicing driving in a parking lot down in Florida, and hit the gas instead of the brake on accident...flipped the car into a lake and Ashley's sister drowned. Ashley's not talking about it much (to be expected) so I don't know how her sister's daughter is doing, but know that he must have made it since they didn't say much about her. Please keep her and that family in your prayers/thoughts. I can't imagine having to deal with that kind of tragedy right before Christmas...brings my December death anniversaries to four now... (ETA: it was the sister's daughter driving. Three kids were in the car, the three year old and 14 year old are still in ICU, the 14 year old does not look like she will make it.)

Lots of work today and I have finals Tues adn Thurs so lots of studying as well! But working HARD to get it all finished up and can't wait for Christmas break. Hope everyone is having a fabulous "on" day!

I hear ya on the white shirt. I used to be in a variety of choral ensembles, as an adult, and the white shirt/black skirt thing holds throughout. I think I still have the long strechy black skirt in my drawer, in case I ever decide to join one again...

Okay, I have a fashion question for the fashionistas among us (dressy fleece need not apply!! ). Feel free to laugh at chick who has now spent the majority of her adult life (10 years now) in the south...

I have my trip up north for a holiday party this week. I think I am okay with the dinner/dance, which is a business formal dress code, as I have a black velvet "suit" that I can wear. Long black skirt with a non-structured jacket (no buttons), and I am hopeful as to finding a shiny-ish red shell to go with it.

My problems lie in two places... one is shoes, and the other is for the day on Friday.

Shoes. I live in NC, right? It's WARM here. So, most of my shoes are open-toe, or really designed for what y'all up north would consider spring/summer/fall. The low there on Fri night is supposed to be upper teens/low 20s. What does one wear for such things? Hose? Heeled short boots?

Two, Friday. Agenda is corporate meetings in the morning, "festive" employee lunch off-site, and then meet n greets with the parent company staff in the afternoon. Again, COLD (high of 29), and likely some walking around cold streets, to and from lunch site at the very least.

I own NOTHING that qualifies as business, or even business casual attire for cold climates. I have a couple of sweaters and a trench/rain coat. I will have to find my gloves and scarf, of course, and I have a full-length wool dress coat somewhere that is likely woefully out of style.

Tips? I need to go shopping... was considering a lightweight turtleneck sweater and jacket combo??

Tall heeled boots would work.

I don't subscribe to tights with open toes but the fashion mags do. Depends on how cutting edge you want to be.

A full heel (no open toe), you could wear black tights. I say tights because it seems only older women wear sheer hose these days. It's bare legged which is perfectly acceptable year round but of course cold, or tights.

Here is a pic Treyner sent me on his phone at the celebration for the team yesterday. He got sized for his championship ring and is sad about leaving I think.

We got a Grizwald tree yesterday - I have to snap some pics and post - it is way too huge for the space it is in but really fun and Baylor thinks it is a riot. Last night we went to Mpls and saw the Holidazzle parade - about 20 floats all lighted up with bands and choirs and hooplah. Spectromagic downsized and at 13 degrees - I was glad it was shorter!

E - sorry about Jeff - I think Lisa asked too but I did not see if you answered - where on his face is it? I hope he heals quickly and great about Kelly's party and attitude about the medical field. Do you think the fact she has had to deal with medical junk often has led to her interest?

Kat - no advice here on clothes. Sorry.

Nancy - look at the bright side -at least the loon was not Seth's new girlfriend comming to meet you with a housewarming present of Pizza!

WOW, slow day! I am back home from campus! And I don't have to go back until September! SO exciting! My graduating seniors are taking me out for drinks one night next week, so that will be fun. Now I will just have a TON of grading to do for the next couple of weeks.

Lyz - these are good thoughts...

Kat - don't be afraid of open toe shoes and bare legs for evening events. Yes, you may be cold walking in and out of the event, but you should be fine inside. As for the Friday event, a skirt with a turtleneck sweater and a jacket would be perfect. You could then wear tights and boots to stay warm. As for the coat, wear what you have. If you can find a great wrap or scarf to through over the coat, it will hide the out of style look and make you the chic fashionista that you are Happy shopping...

Erika - glad to hear that Jeff is feeling better. The story of Kelly playing nurse is too cute. Totally not surprised by it, but still cute. Congrats on the end of going to campus!

Nancy - scary story about the strange lady. Great job on the workout. Before you ask, I made it to JC tonight and lost 1.3 pounds. It is a step in the right direction and I am psyched....

Not much going on here. Finally got my parents' computer back from the repair shop (it had a virus) so I finally have my laptop to myself again. Work is work and it is totally kicking my butt. Nothing too much, just a lot of it. My tower crane arrives next week so that should be exciting. (yes, I am a construction geek...)
