In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Thanks Paula - I did tell her. Praise fuels her life. :lmao: She - unlike me - ADORES to be the center of attention.

Paula - when does your new schedule start? I forgot. The new year?

And Troy? Are the two places close? What am I getting wrong?

Enjoy the house.

It is me and the dog tonight and I am loving it. Kind of want to go to Barnes and Noble, but I am putting that off until tomorrow. I have the house to myself and I am taking advantage of it.

Lisa - Troy is about 25 minutes from Schenectady. Albany, Schenectady and Troy are considered the Capital Region in these parts. You can get to any of them in about 30 minutes from the far and of the others so it is nice. I would have given Jean Claude the tour, but he dissed Schenectady so his loss...:rotfl2:

The new workout schedule will start in about two weeks I think. I am actually looking forward to it. I was wiped out from today's strength training and marathon training. I should sleep well tonight.

Hope everyone is enjoying their night. I am trying to decide if I want to watch the Incredibles on NBC or pop in a DVD. Heaven...

Lyz--the box arrived today! Woot Woot. Now Jean Claude has accessories! I'll ship the slide to you on Monday, so leave me your parents' address. Now if only we could find the house....:lmao: It's an obsession! :rotfl2:

No! No house. I already have too many accessories as it is! I'm going to have to get a rubbermaid to store this little collection. Can't have it lolling about willy nilly.

Love Jeans village. I like those. I think I'm tacky. I have a love for all things colored lights. Just found out Menards has an all purple string. I'm trying to find someplace to put that!

Watching Guy Ferei on the Food Network at 9. He's going to be doing Disney for the Holidays and guess what, SO AM I!!!

Just getting ready for Kelly's birthday party tomorrow (we couldn't do it closer to her actual birthday because of Thanksgiving). And NO, it isn't at my house, thank God. We'll be having it at the indoor pool at the pool club. Just get to make a mess and walk away...

Lyz, I remember your love of colored lights. It is a true testament to how much I adore you that I am still friends with you even though you put up colored lights! :rotfl2::lmao: Purple is NOT a Christmas color! :scared1: I know, I know...I am a New England Puritan all the way.:lmao:

But if I find the house, you are so getting it. :rotfl:

Hi Paula :wave2: I've got the house to myself, too! DGF went to St Louis for the weekend. She's visiting her mom and helping her get ready for Christmas.

Today was a busy day. I had eight miles on my training schedule and I did them before breakfast. I needed to get them out of the way because today is my mentee's birthday. She turned 13. We went for a manicure - pedicure for me - lunch and a movie. We saw The Blind Side. She is hoping to be placed with a foster family soon. She has been on a couple of overnight passes to visit them. She says they are nice and funny. I think one of her coping strategies is to never appear excited or hopeful. Anyway, I double checked the movie topic with her therapist and she was a GO! The movie was good.

I got home, walked the dog and was ready for bed by 6:30. It seems like it's been dark for hours! Blech!

There's a little laundry left and I need to make a grocery list. I do love the crock pot! I like to use it once a week in the winter months.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Ronda

Purple is the color of royalty and Jesus is the King, so there, purple IS a Christmas color.

But if I find the house, you are so getting it. :rotfl:

Good Sunday Morning all!

I was so annoyed last night. I typed up this wicked long post, had this whole story about the police at my house last night, and by the time I finished and hit "submit" I got the freakin' "down for maintenance" message. <grrrr> I'll have to wait until later to re-do my story.

I'm hoping to get our tree today...Happy Sunday everyone!

Rhonda! 8 miles! That is HUGE! Celebrate it!

Lyz--just rolling my eyes at your justification. Purple is for EASTER.

I am exhausted. We ended up getting 7-8" of snow last night. And Jeff, being the good samaritan, was helping out in a situation and there was an accident--he ended up going face-first in to the blade of his plow (truck was stopped and all of that--he was outside of the truck). He is now the proud owner of 27 stitches. Now, it's just stitches. Certainly not serious and actually not even that painful today. I expected him to be in agony, but he got up like always and is now shoveling the walk even though I told him I would do it. And I guess the docs knew he would be ok as they didn't even give him any pain meds. Just regular ibuprofen. He assures me that he really feels normal. Physically. However, the doctor says that he is going to have a "significant scar" (doc's words) on his face. Jeff is not a vain man at all, but he is devastated about this. Stitches come out on Friday and I told him that we would set up an appointment with a plastic surgeon for the following Monday. It's hard for me to tell since when I first saw the wound there was a ton of blood and now it is bandaged, but I would estimate that it is about 4" long. It doesn't sound like much. But get a ruler and look at what 4" is like on your face. Most of the stitches were internal ones since it was such a deep and jagged gash. He *only* has 12 stitches on the outside.

On the way home last night (at 3am I guess it was really this morning), we both had the same reaction. We have got to re-evaluate the way we live our lives. Out of the 5 of us, I am the only one who did not visit the hospital this year. Cammie had stitches in her knee and her displaced growth plate in her wrist, Riley had a broken wrist, Kelly of course has her issues, and now this with Jeff. Most families don't live like this. :sad2: So we are both taking a look at our lifestyle to see what our role in all of this is. I mean, looking at each incident individually is no big deal--kids get stitches and broken bones. But looking at ALL of it together...wow, we are clearly doing something wrong.

Ok, back to party prep. I was rudely interrupted last night by a bleeding husband. ;)

NANCY--must hear the drama! It will make me feel better about my own drama last night! :lmao: How much snow did you get from this? At least is is GORGEOUS here today. Super bright blue sky, not a cloud, snow is blinding and sparkling. The epitome of winter wonderland. :goodvibes

YIKES! Poor Jeff! my drama seems almost insignificant by comparison. It was a truly odd situation - long story I'll share later. Gotta get ready for church.

We had a lot of snow that fell, but the ground here was still warm so it really amounted to almost nothing here at my house. Just up the hill (about 3 miles away, but major elevation change) they got over 5".

Thanks Amiee. Do you go often? Season's pass?

Jean would LOVE you! For her - her first sight of Canada was Toronto from the plane at night - she still talks about all those lights. Anything blinky, bright - oh how she loves bright, overdone, tacky - pure joy to her. Makes her so happy.

I bet it's easier not to get excited. Disappointment over and over just plain stinks. '

Lovely birthday Ronda.

EEK. What? Oh I have so many funny guesses. But I'll refrain.

Oh man. That must have hurt - geez. Good thing he's "okay".

We don't have any snow and this area is a ski resort area. :sad2: I've barely even seen any flurries. Maybe today. Santa Claus Parade in town - maybe he'll bring it.

E - Wow! Sounds like Jeff is doing great, but that's a big scar. I wouldn't get too worried about how you guys live. First, Kelly is an outlier. Multiple trips per kid would give cause for concern, but as active as your gang is you're doing pretty well.

I want snow, but the dry powdery kind I can run in. They're calling for some Monday/Tuesday. As cold as it's been it will stick in a hurry.

DGF is heading back from St Louis today. After church I was a whirlwind of action in the kitchen. Cleaned up the refrigerator soup spill from this week (into the CRISPER!). Made pudding - cooked, not instant. So smooth. Jello, too. Grocery shopping - done.

Now I'm sitting and reading about Michael Oher (the kid from The Blind Side). The movie is based on a book by Michael Lewis and there was an excerpt in the NYTimes a few years ago. Good reading. Check it out here.

Ronda

E, so sorry about Jeff. I know that I would be freaking too, if I were him. Facial scars are definitely a big deal. Hopefully the plastic surgeon can do something... I know they have come really far in this area.

As to the way you live... I think it's pretty normal considering the amount of sports and activities that you all are involved in. I look at the adults in my life (since, well, I just don't know any kids!), esp in the hockey area, and a good percentage of them spend time in hospitals as well. A guy in my coed league wound up with 20 stitches in the mouth area once from a skate cut, and I can count without thinking hard of at least 4 knee surgeries, 2 concussions, 1 broken ankle, 1 broken wrist, and a shoulder surgery. Both D and I have thrown out our backs, and D has had a compound fracture of his upper arm.

Throw in just the kid-playing, the ages of your kids (lots of mobility, not as much regard for consequences), and the fact that you live in a fairly rural area (so lots of playing outside), and I think that you really have nothing to worry about.

Wow. Scary for Jeff. Did he fall? I don't think you guys are doing something wrong. You're just active. Maybe you need a Wii and stay inside :rotfl2:

Nancy, the Po-lice! I hope you said your prayers this moring, :lmao:

Ok, cleaning my house.

So sorry about Jeff. :( I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Lisa, no season tickets. Freebies from work.

Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone! We'll be ok. It's just a major shock right now.

As for not changing our lifestyle, well, it is a discussion we need to have, just to take inventory. I mean, we have *never* lived in a bubble, obviously. And it has been a conscious decision on our part. Ever since the kids were very young, we would let them be kids. For example, at the playground other mothers never let their little kids play on the monkey bars because they "might fall and break an arm!" And my response was always, "but they might not." And at the end of the day, a broken arm isn't much to worry about (this attitude was born after Kelly's diagnosis, so we have a different perspective than a lot of other parents). But the thing is, we know a lot of families with active and sports-oriented kids. And it doesn't seem like they are always having someone injured. There is one other family who is like we are...and she and I always sit at the soccer games together and laugh about it. But now, I don't know.

But, things are already looking better this evening than the were last night and Jeff's spirits seem to be picking up.

Lyz--man, you'll stoop to any level to make me get a Wii, won't you?!?! :rotfl2::lmao:

Kelly's party was per.fect. Thank goodness it is over, though. Everyone came (14 kids plus my 3), had a great time, etc. But I am tired. I was tired going into it and now, wow. Kelly was thrilled, and that of course makes it all worth it. Best part of it is no clean up for us! Whew. Could you imagine if I had it at my house after what we just went through?

The other nice thing was that this was a no gift party. Can you imagine if I had to bring 15 new things into the house just a few weeks before Christmas?!? Yikes. Instead, we had families make a donation to NKF if they chose. And the kids all got really into it. It was nice. We have been to similar parties in the last couple of years where the kids asked for no gifts, so it was nice to see Kelly follow suit.

Ok, time for dinner and a ginormous glass of wine! :rotfl2: I will likely not be on again for a while. Going to try and get to bed really early tonight.

And when I said about the soap awhile back I meant I wanted to purchase some. Do you think it would be okay with my rosacea. I know you're not a psychic! :lmao: But do you have any customers that mention it?

Kelly's birthday party = fun. Yeah for her! :goodvibes
