Lots and lots to say...
Paula--THANK you. Thanks for trusting us enough to say all of that and get it out. You have been really going through some major changes, inside and out, so it only makes sense that there are big emotional components. And NO, I didn't just skip to the end! I never skip you!
Lisa--MIL fared fine on the trip. She enjoyed her time with her sister, but also said that one week was enough. More than being with her sis, though, she was in heaven being away from FIL. Long story there, saved for a rainy day.
As for what Jeff likes about Taiwan--um, really, nothing. He loathes it. The congestion, the utter filth, the lack of good food (he has had some good meals, but only when having VIP meetings out at some special place), the HEAT and HUMIDITY are oppressive. Like 120* and 95% humidity. Just awful. Can't get bottled water and can't drink the tap water, so that is always a challenge. And I think that is really the issue--absolutely EVERYTHING is a challenge. No one speaks English, it isn't very Westernized. Since he is there on business, for example, he needs a receipt for everything that he purchases so he can expense it and get reimbursed. Well, things like "receipts" aren't common over there (they are for big things like hotels, but not for just a regular meal or whatever), and trying to communicate that he needs a receipt is a huge ordeal. And he has hundreds of things like that each day. So it is basically exhausting. He tries to go for a run each morning, when it is still cool (like only 90) and even that is frustrating as running for exercise is not common in that culture. So he gets stared at and pointed at. Or people think he is running FROM something, so they start running, too. He does TRs once in a while, just for me, so if you want, I can post them here. Or maybe I should e-mail them to you so not to clog up the thread with them. Talk about Off Topic!
Nancy--stick with it! You know that your body is in shock and just holding on to water and weight right now. It just means you'll have a bigger/better week next time.
As for me--we do round one of trick-or-treating tonight. The shops all stay open and the kids trick-or-treat through the village at all of the stores. It is SUPER fun. And our downtown is VERY quint. Maine. The stuff of postcards. Really a village, with a village green complete with monument, and shops all around the green. So we'll do downtown tonight and regular trick-or-treating tomorrow night. Tomorrow is crazy...three soccer games, a Halloween party at Karen's, and THEN trick-or-treating. Yikes!
Candy--we give out full size Snickers, KitKats, and Twix. Damn right. Full size. Word.
I had a great run yesterday and I am tracking! Yes, you read that right! I have been tracking and doing well. Just call me James!
