In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

I guess I would be thinking of the gift as more for your mother than for your brother, if that makes sense. If he sells it for booze or cigarettes, that's his problem, but it will make her happy and keep her off your back. I wouldn't spend much or take too much effort, either.

Can you tell I have a problem brother too? Not in the same way as yours, but I had to come to terms with the fact that we would never be close, or friends, or really even civil, a long time back. Anything I do for him, I do to make my mom happy.

Way to go Becca!!

Nancy - Becca is such a riot! It would have been hard for me to not laugh if she was talking about me. Awesome that she nailed the song without knowing it.

E - cool that your semester is coming to a close. The kids! Wow, it makes me sad that my state is no where near that advanced for the younger ones (Spanish).

Cathie - yes, it is very cute! I agree - buy a token gift.

Kelly - I'm sorry that you have a funeral so close to the holidays.

Kat - have you thawed from your trip yet?

Today is Monday. (how astute, I know :rotfl2:). Good luck tonight Paula!:goodvibes

Oh what a night... now that I have you all singing that song in your heads... :lmao:

Nancy - you always remember... love you for that...

Lost 1.3 pounds this week and was greeted at the door to JC by about 15 firemen. I guess the hand dryer in the bathroom finally kicked the bucket and started smoking so the fire dept was called. I knew something was up when I pulled into the parking lot and saw four rigs pulled up in front of the place. I held the door for the firemen who were leaving and proceeded to crack up the consultants when I told them that when I asked for a fireman for Christmas I had no idea I would be given my choice... They all just started laughing.

Went to the gym and did my 30 minutes on the treadmill and almost attempted wogging/jogging. I think I am ready to try. I am heading to the doctor's tomorrow for my annual physical and will check with him tomorrow. He has always been worried about my knees, but I am going to ask anyways since I am a different person than I used to be. That and frankly Jesse is bugging the crap out of me to take my workouts to the next level, but I need to be able to jump and stuff so I will know tomorrow.

Cathie - get him something small, impersonal and cheap. Perhaps a food item? Worry more about your relationship with your mom than with him. Just my thoughts.

Kelly - sorry to hear about the funeral. Hugs...

Hi to everyone... since Erika is done with her holiday chores, do you think I can hire her to do mine? I have yet to start my Christmas shopping and I have no clue what to get my sister this year. oy...

PAULA! Awesome job on the loss! And HI LAR IOUS fireman comment! Love it. And no, I am not for hire! :lmao: There is a reason I have to get everything done so early...otherwise it is craziness.

EE and And Paula--awesome job on day one! Let the training begin! (Said with Olympic flair...just for you, Lisa!)

Yeah, our district starts Spanish in K. But this is not normal for the state. We just have a great public school system in our community (and we pay really high taxes for it). Not only do they get foreign language from day one, but for PE, they go snowshoeing in the winter and roller blading in the spring. The older ones go to a local mountain for snowboarding or skiing. Both vocal and instrumental music are compulsory from K through middle school. So they get exposed to a lot, which I love. Plus, it really helps those kids who are "into" music. Everyone has to do it, so no one gets made fun of for being involved in it.

Day 1 - Finished.

:thumbsup2

My Day 1 was not what I wanted it to be, but what it needed to be due to my cold. I am finally feeling like I've turned the corner on this one, so hopefully tomorrow I can run a little.

OH - and I went to the New Balance store today to check out some new shoes. I didn't buy any there, because I have a $50 coupon from the New Balance on-line store. But I had the foot scan done, got fit and LOVE the shoes I've picked out. I did go ahead and buy the New Balance inserts (ca-ching!) because when I bought the boys shoes there last August, I found that the pricing was basically the same everywhere. No great discounts on those. Darn. I'll probably wait until Jan 1 to order the shoes though - my credit card is in melt-down mode enough already! :rolleyes1

Congrats on the loss! That's so awesome. Are you closing in on new bling? Good luck at the Dr. tomorrow. I'm sure they are going to be all kinds of proud of you for how you've improved your health!

Just added a bit more music to my mp3. Time for bed so I can get up and do it all again!

Nancy - glad to hear that you are starting to feel better. I'll let you know how things go tomorrow. Sadly, not anywhere near new bling yet, but I can proudly say that I am back to the point where I earned the one that I have so that is a good thing.

OK - off to pack up more cookies to give away (less that will stay in the house - yeah!!!)

Good Morning everyone.

I have been reading and proud of the losses and Becca and excited fro Lyz.

I have just been swamped and not much to say minus cruddy stuff about being swamped.

Baylor left yesterday for winter burn camp in Colorado. We had about 2 inches of snow fall overnight and you would have thought those driving had never seen slush on the roads. Almost did not make the plane - arrived at 8:20 for a 9 a.m. departure!

We leave tom for the journey that will put us in Orlando on Friday with stops in Knoxville and Anderson S.C on the way. I am so excited to see Treyner Thursday night I can't stand it. Means more than Disney right now.

Making sure all the transfer stuff is done so he is set to arrive officially by Jan 9th. Nervous for him but I know he will be fine.

Kids will be at Chad's family for Christmas eve and Day due to lagistics and it was the right thing to do but makes me sad also. I offered it. Best decession for the kids but so not what I want. They will be back on the 28th and we will have my side Christmas on the 1st.

Literally not a present under the massive tree. Looks sad. We are delivering presents today to a family we adopted for Christmas. It was fun shopping for 5 people who you know will really appreciate what they get (Cathie I so get it.)

I think I would do Disney in Dec. again but if all possible - one week earlier. Just depends on everyone's schedule for finals for college.

We will be at CBR Dec 18th - Dec 23rd. Leave sometime the 23rd and head homeward. Drop kids off in Iowa for Christmas eve and head the last 4 hours home lat at night.

Lisa - I am thinking of you and your Mom.
Kelly - sorry about the funeral.
Kelly & E - we have a milk man here as well.
Kat - great choices of clothes
Nancy - aren't you excited to have Seth Home again!
Paula - Firefighters huh! You do always suprise me!
Ronda - glad you asked about the cookies cause I learned as well!
Lyz - hope it stays good weather. Our forecast is cooler!

Everyone else - :flower3:

I am thinking a challenge for the new year will kick me back into 1st gear!

GOOD MORNING!

I actually slept thru the night last night and feel SO much better today :dance3: Heading to the gym to get my miles in, then to work where I will do my best to avoid the myriad of Christmas treats that surround me.

Dawn - yes, I am looking forward to seeing Seth! You must be jumping out of your skin in anticipation of seeing Treyner! I hope you guys have an absolutely fabulous trip together. Won't it be a huge relief when all the paperwork is done and you are 100% sure he is on the ground in S.C. and good to go? <sigh> and I thought I worried alot when my kids were toddlers! OMG that was just the warm-ups :upsidedow

We always celebrate Christmas with my family on Jan. 1st. Makes for a more mellow New Years Eve, but it also gives us another entire week to finish up shopping :thumbsup2

Have a great day all!

I just had to tell you guys this!

****Carsyn just came upstairs - asking where her pants are. Like they fit me or something! :lmao:

She washed and hung her jeans up on Sunday in the laundry room. It seems that it is a probability that Baylor - in haste yesterday when I woke him up and told him to hurry because I was afraid with traffic we would not get to the airport - not only wore, but also packed her jeans. :rotfl2:

I had done laundry Sunday also and told him to get 2 pairs of jeans packed in his suitcase for Colorado from the basket in his room. That meant 2 more for Florida and 2 for Christmas in Iowa (Yes packing 3 different bags at once for 3 different locations so spreading out the clothes.)

At 5 am he may have just gone in the laundry room and grabbed what was hanging versus what was in a basket right in front of him. I was up making breakfast so did not see what he grabbed.

When I came back down - He said he had put jeans in his suitcase and was set. I had asked how when I could see his basket had not been touched.

He said - I grabbed ones that were hanging.

I assumed he meant in his closet.

Now I think he meant hanging in the laundry room. :scared1::rotfl:

Now that I think about it - his jeans yesterday had silver buttons on the pocket but he sometimes gets clothes from friends or with his Dad so I did not think much besides noticing that they were almost too short and he would need to donate them after this trip.

I would not assume he would fit into Carsyn's pants. He is 5'7 she is 5'4. he weighs almost 40 pounds less than she does. But with a belt - who knows?

So now I am going to have to go buy Carsyn some jeans because she is back in gymnastics and working out and toning up and truthfully only had 3 pairs of pants - as she wanted to get more as she kept re-defining her body.

And Baylor - who she wants to throttle for not answering his phone in Colorado at 6 am, on a ski trip, has girl jeans! :lmao:

Wow...a Dan sighting!

Dawn--I'll be laughing while you are doing that God awful drive! But then I'll be jealous once you get there. ;)

Nancy--glad you are feeling better!

:rotfl2: I know right! He needs a New Years Challenge too!

The trip down will be broken into 3 segments- back will be 2 so not as bad as straight through torture!

Sheets washed - cookies made -

Need to get to Target and get Christmas cards I ordered 4 weeks ago and have never picked up! oops!:scared1: I knew I was forgetting something!

:scared1: :rotfl: poor kid! :rotfl:

Hi Dan! :wave2:

Got my run in this morning, followed by some upper body strength work. Then went to work (sugar cookies today! :thumbsup2, amongst other things) and now I'm completely wiped.

What's on the menu tonight Paula? I need ideas for dinner and your mom always seems to have something that sounds so yummy!

I had haddock francaise with spinach, but then again I wasn't home for dinner tonight thanks to a meeting I was at. I think they had roast beef and potatoes. I'll have to think of some ideas for you.

Had a great workout with Jesse tonight. We introduced some plyometrics into the mix since I got the full blessings of my doctor to run and jump again. My doc was so excited when I saw him this morning for my physical. He was impressed with the loss, the way I have been doing it and is totally on board for the 1/2 marathon. He made me get both the flu shot and the H1N1 shot (which NY just opened up to the masses a few days ago) stating that he didn't want to see me sidelined by anything. It was the best physical I have been to in forever....

Dawn - have a great trip and safe travels for you and the brood.

Hi Dan...

Hope everyone else is doing well...

PAULA! That is amazing news! So exciting! Own it.

Still in grading hell here, though if I actually buckle down I should get through the bulk of it today. Of course, I said that on Monday and Tuesday....

Heard from Lyz. They went to Blizzard yesterday and are hitting MK today. Ah to be at MK today! Weather and crowds are both great.

More later.

Paula that is great news. Considering that its 15 here, I can't imagine swimming. Have fun Lyz & family.

Paula! Such awesome news! So excited for you!

Trying to keep my head above water this week....what else is new, right? :tilt:

Cathie... give him a gift card. Like $25 at Olive Garden or something. A token so your mom can't say you didn't give him a gift, but it's very much indicative of the obligatory nature of the gift.

Hi Everyone,

Im here, just lurking. Still reading along,

I have a funeral to go to tomorrow, not looking forward to it :sad1:

Sorry to hear :( Hate funerals. But then again, who doesn't?

Cathie - I agree with Kat, a token gesture as a gift - a gift card, a book token, something along those lines.

Hope everyone is ok :grouphug:

So. In other *busy kid* news...call backs were today for the drama auditions....

SO exciting! I'm a former (perhaps still current lol) drama kid myself, so this makes me super excited to hear!!!

I absolutley hate the "obligated" feeling as well. I'm tending to agree with Kat on this one. Something that says "no, I didn't forget" and "I refuse to put the time, thought and effort into this because you haven't earned that from me" both at the same time.

Or maybe donate money to a charity in his name :confused3

Cathie--I agree with the token gift, though I would not go with a gift card that has a monetary value attached as he will just sell it for cash to buy cigarettes or booze with. You are currently in school, right? Maybe just get him a t-shirt with your university name on it. Small, token, and he can't really sell it or return it, etc. Or maybe a gift certificate for a large pizza and movie rental--something that he will actually use/eat as opposed to sell.

I guess I would be thinking of the gift as more for your mother than for your brother, if that makes sense. If he sells it for booze or cigarettes, that's his problem, but it will make her happy and keep her off your back. I wouldn't spend much or take too much effort, either.

Thanks everyone for the advice!!!!!! I am thinking a 10 dollar Walmart gift card will do the trick. Then if he wants to buy cigarettess with it....whatever. I don't really care either way. But like Kat was saying, this is more to make my mom happy. I don't really care what he does with it, I just didn't want to have to spend lots of money/time/thought on a gift for him. So a gift card is perfect I think.
