In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate, VOL 7! Princesses? Nope, just us Goddesses!

Well I'm down for the BL - .2 :lmao:

And I now know why I jumped on feeling so much lighter this week, so fit and clothes even looser and was confused. Guess what?

I have my period. Is that a strange thing? Why yes it is when you just finished one last week! :sad2:

Obviously my body is whacked. Why? Menopause - I look it up. I thought you get the glory of less periods. No, you can get the glory of more periods. What fun.

Or it's stress from Mom. :confused3 Who knows. The surgery I can handle. They do great things these days. Miracles. Medicine is something. But they are leaving for Florida being nonchalant - IMHO - about travel medical and I would like them to have a home to come back to. You don't screw with medical insurance. Okay enough...

One more week of BL. And then it starts again January 1st on the WISHboards. If I do it - I'm going to go to two week weigh-ins.

Family here tomorrow. Annual Chrismas movie (theatre) and then dinner here. Downtown we walked. I'm in a foul mood with my comments. We can walk here - just not as lovely of a walk. But tons of snow finally - yeah.

They act like they're coming to the North Pole. It's cute.

Hi to all.

Paula you snuck on.

Lisa - congrats on the loss. I celebrate the .2 as much as the 2.0 some weeks. Yeah on the clothes fitting better. Much better gauge if you ask me.

Oh and I didn't sneak on. I am home today getting a headstart on the baking. I have ten pounds of flour, five pounds of butter (breathe Erika) and ten pounds of sugar that are about to become about 40 dozen cookies and treats. Now, to get rid of them all without eating them...

Lyz is leaving in just over an hour. They have an afternoon flight. So super excited for her--she will be texting me and I will update here.

Wind chill is BRUTAL today. My kids are off--teacher in-service day. Of course, I had to have the ONE meeting I have to go today. This meeting only takes place once a month and it happens to be the one day my kids are off of school. Sheesh. BUT...those kids sat perfectly quiet for 2 hours and 15 minutes! OMG, I have never been more proud of them, I swear.

Ronda--thanks for the cookie update. As a non-baker, it is all so entertaining to me. As for the dressy fleece...yes, that is a throw down topic for me!

Lisa--yes, celebrate the .2! But honey, you are too young for menopause! Well, sure that could be it, but isn't the average age more like 50?

Well I missed that. The store should have been a clue. Oh I wish you were baking right here!!! :lmao::lovestruc Yeah for you.

I meant perimenopause Erika. Whoops. Cause menopause really is the word when it's all gone. And peri for the changes in the periods. And I think - I don't know if I'm making this up:dance3::lmao: - childless women are more likely to start early.

Let me go look that sucker up. I hate today in so many ways. Fa la la la la. My body is so off. I've had headaches on and off and I'm very lucky - I rarely if ever have headaches.

Well that was a big mistake to google that! Depressing. Lots of links how it's harder for childless women.

I'm crying. You know what this is - it's my mom - it's me not being a mother - two friggin' periods - hormones galore - and the natural progression of life isn't going to flow quite right, is it? Plus, I lost someone around this time - young - and it just all sucks.

Okay I'm shutting up. This is one crappy day. And I'm obviously overly emotional. I know i have so much to be thankful for - that person that I lost - her mother has a daughter here and a daughter not here and life sucks for them daily so I should shut up and be thankful. It's just a crappy day.

:lovestruc to all and I'll be better tomorrow.

Lisa - sending hugs....

cookie update:

96 peanut butter balls are made, rolled and in the fridge for their cool down before they are dipped in chocolate

96 cherry chocolate kiss cookies are cooling on the rack

off to make my lemon italian cookies next...

number of cookies eaten - zero!!!

Nancy--did you really just say insulated overalls? You are officially NEVER again allowed to tool on me about dressy fleece! :lmao:

Ah, but she didn't say dressy insulated overalls...

Lisa,.

Lyz!! Have a great time!!!

Here, well, cold. Day has gone pretty well so far. I wore the blue sweater, and was very glad for it on the walk to the hotel this morning. It was a little warm during the lunch but not too bad, really.

cookie update - part 2

100 italian cookies baked and waiting to be frosted

120 snickerdoodles - done...

the family has decided that they want sugar cookies and more cherry chocolate cookies. Ugh... off to get Nancy's recipe for sugar cookies...

Paula--I'm in awe! :worship:

Kat--just wait till tomorrow...we're going into the deep freeze! :lmao: (Though I'm not sure if it will hit where you are.) And don't get me wrong...I am no fan of the cold. Just used to it. Jeff and I are definitely heading south once the kids are out of the house. We would consider moving sooner, but both set of parents are here and getting on in age and need us, etc.

Lisa--no words, other than to say I am glad you let some of it out here. It's ok. Say what you need to say, feel what you need to feel, cry, swear, all of it. Hang in there. And remember that you are amazing!

And in case anyone has forgotten, Lyz is IN Florida. She should be all checked into the hotel by now. If it was me, I'd be having cocktails poolside, but I don't know how the cutie starts her vacation. Can't wait to hear from her. I know that tomorrow she is thrilled as it will be her shopping day and hang out by the pool day.

Watching a show on Decorating Disney for Christmas on HGTV. Lyz - I am so envious right now!

Nancy - awesome for Seth. Is this the Army push up, sit up, two mile run? I hated it.

Wait a second. Back up the bus! Did I miss something here? :confused3 You?

Yes. That is exactly what I'm talking about. He'd managed to pass a number of times in unofficial tests, but hadn't passed when it counts. He needed that for his scholarship and yesterday was his last chance this semester. I mean really. I *know* that I'm a procrastinator, but <sheesh> that's just crazy!

Glad the sugar cookie recipe got the thumbs up! :thumbsup2

Obviously my body is whacked.

Oy. Yay for the loss. Not-so-yay for the frequent periods! :headache:

number of cookies eaten - zero!!!

Nice job Paula!

Any chance of sharing your cherry chocolate kiss recipe?

Ah, but she didn't say dressy insulated overalls...

THANK YOU Kat. I didn't say they were attractive. Quite to the contrary. They are completely functional. Fashionable? Well, perhaps in a back-woods redneck sorta way :lmao:

Nancy - here you go...

Cherry Chocolate Kiss

cream the following

1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup (two sticks) butter at room temperature
2 - 3 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

then add

2-1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

mix in by hand

1/2 cup marachino cherries, drained and chopped (I use a small food processor for this)

The dough may be a little on the sticky side if the cherries aren't well drained. If this happens add a little bit more flour.

roll into 1 in balls and then dip into granulated sugar (I use the pampered chef small cookie scoop for this)

bake at 350 for 8 - 10 minutes

the dough won't spread and the cookies should be soft

remove from the oven and immediately press a choc. kiss into the center

move to a cooling rack and let set until the chocolate kiss resolidifies (this may take a few hours)

makes about 48 cookies.

Enjoy!!!

BTW - peanut butter balls done and the excess chocolate used to dip pretzel rods in. Tomorrow's to do list is the frost the italian cookies and make the spritz cookies and Nancy's sugar cookies (the dough is in the fridge as I type this). I am done for the night and will be crashing soon. I have an appointment with Jesse tomorrow AM and then it is back to the kitchen to finish this up. I'll take pics of the finished products and post them.

Erika - tell Lyz that we miss her...

Drive by reading;)

Lisa.....:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
I know what that crappy mood feeling is like, let myself get into it more than I'd like to admit this last month or two. Vent. It's okay.

I was in ROTC and the national guard in college. Eventually disqualified by my eyesight. Also didn't get to be a police officer because of my eyes - just extremely nearsighted. They could all be picky in that economy.

All turned out well though.

Morning! We are in the deep freeze here--makes me think of Lyz soaking up the Florida sun!

Ok, so I have Disney Dilemma that I thought you would all have an opinion about. We plan to do another 4-night Disney cruise in 2010. Right now, we have 2 options--October and December.

The October one falls over Halloween (which we like...we have done actual Halloween in Disney a few times and really like being away during that week. And of course, Disney does it so well that it is a blast).

The December one is the Podcast Cruise (the one that won last year). That would be great because (1) it is cheaper due to the group booking discount (we'd save about $400 dollars); (2) there are lots of perks and goodies being part of the podcast group; and (3) we would get to see all of the holiday decorations in the parks, on the ship, and on the island.

The downside is that it is CRAZY busy for me during December. Finals and grading and wrapping up the semester, etc. All just crazy. Plus getting ready for the holidays on top of that. Also, it seems odd to have a big, expensive vacation just two weeks before Christmas.

Thoughts???

Go Lyz!!!!!

Nancy - your cookie recipe totally rocks!!!! Super easy and a joy to roll out. I made a 1/2 batch and my family is demanding more.... thank you!!!!

ok - off to frost some Italian cookies and I am almost done. Just need to assemble the trays and I can rest for a while...

Ok E, I will say my two cents. I think for your sanity sake, October is the best bet. Yes, the podcast cruise would be a killer option, but it's going to hit near finals week.

Lyz - hope you find a great Coach!

Ronda - I have heard about them turning down people with vision issues before (even moderate ones) and I think that bites.

Paula - I bet your house smells awesome.

Everybody else - Howdy!
