In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Susan, thank you for making this thread your first post! Welcome!

Thanks Amiee for seeing that. So true. First post. Yeah.

I'm usually not this hyper Susan - really.

Okay, a light that's been burnt out since we moved in just went on on its own. Electrical, right not spooky. Jean can't handle spooky.

Me!! And Erika (3DisneyKids), and LisaV (lisaviolet). I think that's it, but someone please correct me if I am wrong...

And Dawn, right?

:rotfl2: OMG. Are you ready for this? I had to go somewhere today where I'd never been before. About an hour drive - city (:scared: ack. I am SO not a city driver). Anywho...had the address all plugged into the GPS. Head on down the road with "English Emily" guiding the way. THEN...she tells me to "take the slip road"....the WHAT? WTH is a "slip road"? (on ramp I think...) I had to pull over and switch her back to the bo-ring American girl so I didn't get totally confused :rotfl2:

OMG. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl: Priceless Nancy. I love your children.

Nancy, I did a recipe tonight that I got from my time in Spain... a baking dish, add a can of tomato sauce, some oregano, and dot with slices of soft goat cheese. Bake at 400 for 10 min, broil for 5, until bubbly and a bit brown around the edges. Serve with garlic toast points, or crostini. Sooooo good.

I used a basic can of hunt's basil&oregano sauce but you could use anything you have and like that isn't too strong (you don't want to overwhelm the goat cheese taste). OH NO YOU DON"T!!!!

And Kelly, brie. Mmmm. Now, all we need is goat's milk brie and we are set!!

Killing me Kat. There's this restaurant up here that has the best goat cheese dish. I tried to share it with people - the boys (Jean's nephews) and they couldn't deal with the texture. Too bad. Oh how I love thee Goat Cheese. H

Yeah, still haven't caught up.

Paula ~ awesome about Hot Dixie Chick. I still have the touch. Do you guys have any idea how much restraint I have right now just to keep from using that banana guy?!?!? I do not want to stress E, lol.

Kat ~ brie. Yum! I'll take some.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

And one for Stephanie  Stephanie, every single time I see your posts I feel so guilty for not being so dedicated these days. Good for you. Bad for me.;)

Hey Steph - where are you? Missing you.

Hi. Remember me?

Welcome to the newbies - Toldeo, what's your name? Did I miss it? hi Susan!

Cathie - oh, hug for all of it. Your brother. The stuff with your friend. That can hurt so hard. Friends are so important to me.

Well, Emily is 5 now, my MIL is 59, I saw three concerts and spent a lot of time with my friend Courtney (although she's no Kat in Em's eyes).

Tomorrow I am doing C25K with a friend. I know! Exercise! Me! :lmao:

Hey everyone

Okay so change of plans tonight, was supposed to work my tookus off baking, but instead had a consoltation with someone for their wedding cake in November! It's only for about 70 people but it's going to be about a 250 cake!!! I'm SO excited! It's my first big major cake project that is worth that much money.

And the best part, they're doing a medieval themed wedding. Everything is themed, they are even asking the guests to come dressed to the theme. So the cake, is a castle on a hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could just die from the excitement. Excuse me for a moment while I geek out! :dance3:

Okay had to share that becuase I am WAY excited. My cake business is finally starting to take off a little and that is SOOOO exciting!

Off to bed with me. Have to get up early and bake tomorrow for the cake for this weekend! I'll post and respond tomorrow, promise!

Really? It's 10:45 people. Where are you all?

Oh - out doing the C25K I bet....;)

Sorry Nancy...

I am a lady of leisure today and slept in a bit, went to the gym and worked out with Jesse (a nice change since the gym was almost empty) and am getting ready to head out on a little adventure. I think I am going to go to a favorite deli and grab a turkey sandwich and head to the park for lunch and maybe just chill for a while. My world is changing at a rapid rate right now and I need my head to catch up.

Then I can do all of that camping trip packing. Gotta love some good old fashioned procrastination right?

I'll chime in later...

That is exciting Cathie. Business and your favourite theme. Nice. Can't wait to see it.

Yes, gotta love it.

Here's to your day Paula. Sounds nice. And needed.

No kidding. And the story only gets better. The repair guy came out today for the fridge -- $400 and they will fix it when the part comes in. Hopefully this week!!! So having lived out of my cooler for the past few days, I am hoping this part gets in pretty darn soon. You don't appreciate refrigeration properly until you don't have it... ;)

To make life even better, we noticed last night the air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air, so my husband decided to get someone out to look at that today as well. Well.....long and short is that the air conditioner is toast. The zap in the power may have affected it, but basically it's a 20 year old machine and needs to be replaced. Hubby will be spending tomorrow working from home while they install our new spiffy $7K unit. Granted we will be getting rebates and tax credits against this, but even so.....not our best week, appliance-wise.

I will probably lose a great deal of weight when we're all eating cat food.....

That has to be so frustrating! A few years ago we had an AWFUL winter and I was snowed in my apartment for three days, and without power for about two of them, so I lost all my food. After the fact, it dawned on me that DUH, I should have just opened the door and put all the food out in the snow to stay cool!!!! :rotfl:

Hi everyone! I'm late to this party, but this seems to be a good time to start.

I've been lurking around these boards for months now, and it is such a fun place to be, I thought I'd finally become visible.

I started gaining weight about 20 years ago, yo-yo'ed up and down, but have basically been at a very unhealthy size for far too long. Advancing age (read baby-boomer) brings a new ache or pain every day all exacerbated from carrying myself around.

Tales of the first Podcast cruise had me wishing I had been there. When the Podcast Crew announced the cruise in 2010 I had to be part of it, so I booked a cabin.

I'm using the cruise as my carrot. 501 days to be fit for travelling. I think that's do-able. I have been a part of Weight Watchers Online for some time, but now I'm actually going to use it! My first endeavor was to put down the sugary drinks. It's a start.

501 days to become ... a goddess! (Yikes!)

Thanks everyone for the inspiration.

I'm pretty much a newbie too, and while I have found some other places on the dis intimidating and sometimes downright rude, this is an amazing group of women here. They've laughed at my jokes (bless their hearts) consoled me through my drama, and gave me great advise when it comes to my weight loss journey.

I'm also a big podcast fan! Terrified to go on the cruise though, and it probably won't happen due to lack of funds lol.

Quick check in from me. I got to the gym for the first time this week. It felt really good going. No puppy walk due to torrential downpours. Hopefully it will be clear tomorrow. Food has been on track for b'fast and lunch (well yesterday I swapped lunch and dinner). I'm really hoping I can stick with it and get that pedicure I really need next week.

We have had a TON of rain here all summer, somewhat unusual for Colorado, so I feel your pain! I love my Wii fit for giving me a way to exercise in doors! Glad to hear that your eating has been on track, keep it up! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the condolences. This was my very best friend, I mean it's ridiculous how alike we were, like twins seperated at birth, but just enough opposite to entertain each other. We were attached at the hips, so it is really very hard because my friends are also so very important to me. But I really believe God works in mysterious ways and I have some amazing people in my life now that I don't think I would have, had her and I kept hanging out together nearly every day. :) Everything seems to work out for a reason.

My name is Ann!! :hippie:

Quick fly by! Carsyn has state championship game tonight and I then will be done with soccer. I figured out I have spent almost $200 in gas these last 3 weeks driving 2 hours roundtrip. UGH!!!

Packing camping stuff to go, pots, pans etc...we are in a housekeeping cabin - bunks and electricity and that is it. Making salads and stuff for the cooler - we will grill a lot as well but with no fridge or stove - it should be fun!

Treyner is having friends over to say goodbye at 9:30 :scared1:when we get back - I am making popcorn and throwing whatever leftovers we have at them and then packing my clothes. Nothing like last minute!

Hi to the new people -

Susan - loved your intro! You can do the cruise and E is right - I need to get back on the pOdcast bandwagon!

I have read all I promise and the only thing I remember is that someone asked abot DVC.

I have been a member of DVC since 1998 at OKW and Vero. Will hopefully add more points this year.

I will try and post tom. but if not - have a safe week all and I will check in as I can. Doubt the campground has internet but we will see.

Nancy - whatever kleenex I do not use I will send your way! :lovestruc

Hey everybody!

It's raining again here, but I did manage to get a 45 min wog in today at lunch. We had a potluck, so it was best for me to make something and bring my own lunch. I can't explain how much it helps me to get even a few minutes of exercise in during my day. What a great way to clear my mind!

Off to listen to the email show. I so hope there is one!

Hey gang,

My lunch in the park was amazing. The rose garden was in full bloom and a bench was just calling out my name. My head is on straight and I am ready to tackle the challenges ahead at work and can now confidently say bring it on. Whew.... feels good to say that.

I am refocused on my weight loss goals and know that I want to keep going (despite the french fries I just ate) and am committing to my Princess 1/2 training. Amazing what a few hours in a garden can do...

I took pictures while I was there. I'll post a few once I get them uploaded and stuff. It won't be tonight as I am in packing mode now. The big camping trip is this weekend and as Erika has said in the past, the trips are always a great time, but the amount of work that goes into them is huge.

Dawn - safe travels and tell Treynor I said good luck at college. Also, tell him not to forget the most important part of college - have some fun while you are there. Sometime what you learn outside of the classroom is way more important than anything you get inside of it.

Later...

Loving seeing the Mayor of Crazytown back in her proper place. :flower3:

WORD!

Nancy - whatever kleenex I do not use I will send your way! :lovestruc

Thanks Dawn! You know I'm gonna need it too! Good luck to you guys - have a safe trip!

I've been doing so much better this week with my challenge goals. Not perfect, not 100% "on"...but much, much better (despite the friggin' heat and humidity that makes me want to have a nice long visit with my friends Ben & Jerry...) Off to get some sleep....'night all!

Nancy - love hearing that...

2 days in a row? Really?

Wow.

Paula - have fun camping!

Anyone else have any fabulous weekend plans? :confused3

Another muggy day in the neighborhood....strong storms are headed our way by mid-morning, so if I have any hope for a bike ride I'd better get myself out now....

Morning and goodbye!

We should be ready to leave by noon-kids in Treyner's jeep to spend the night with Chad's parents and us in the Van to spend the night at Dan's mom (they both live on the way to Colorado - only 1 hour apart) and then off on a 13 hour car drive to Durango hopefully by 7am which puts in Durango at 10-11 p.m. with a few quick stops.

Thank you for all the well wishes and for putting up with me this past year trying to help him make the best decesions. I am looking forward to the next year being about me and my work and my health.

Paula - you will be glad to know that Treyner met with an architectural designer yesterday for an internship next year! He talks about the time you gave him on the phone a lot. :thumbsup2

I will try and check in this week sometime! :cutie:

So true Paula. Great advice for Treyner.

So happy for you. As Nancy and I have already said - you are such an inspiration right now.
