In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Kat - I love the fact that I am not the only one who uses money as an incentive to go to the gym.... Thanks for validating that one for me...

I started to exercise because without it, I would not lose the weight I need to lose. I hired a trainer because of the accountibility factor. He gets paid whether I am there or not so I am going to get my money's worth thank you. Plus, he will nag me if I don't show.

I exercise now because it feels good and I love the comments that I get from people who haven't seen me in a while. The compliments and stunned looks of disbelief are truly as addictive as drugs I think. I love how that makes me feel and exercise will keep me there.

And for our newbies, exercise for me is cardio twice a week (usually biking, but soon to be walking / wogging) and weight training three days a week.

My name is Paula and I am a gym rat...

I took off from work today to get some personal stuff done so I'm around a little more than I usually will be. No internet at work unless I use my phone. In that case I'm more likely to read but not respond since it looks less like I'm "playing" and more like reading email.

I just got back from taking the doggie for a walk. I must have tired him out cause he's crashed on the couch. Maybe, if I'm super motivated, I'll take him out again around 8 when its a little cooler. I'd love to get up early before work and take him first thing then again at night. Maybe I'll work on getting up 1 morning and see where it goes from there. I really hate getting up at 6am as it is - 5:30 just might make me go insane.

Stephanie - since you seem to like walking have you tried the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD's. I started with those and really liked them because I could do them at whatever time was best. I hate mornings, so I could do these at 10:00PM if need me (and I did do them then). Just a thought...

Stephanie-:welcome:

I too, am fairly new here, but already am making some friends. This is a wonderful group of people!

I too, unfortunately understand about the double belly drama. (hm, think I'm officially coining that phrase for my own! :lmao:) It's a pain becuase even if you can find a pair of pants or a skirt that hide the one well.....well then there's still that other one ya gotta worry about :)

Disneyworld delight-Thanks for the understanding. I hate not feeling social, it's so unlike me. Normally I'm...well....Chatty Cathie! :lmao:

Ah, the double belly drama. As I am a pumpkin on stilts, I understand this one well. I actually say I get rings like the michelin man... one under the belly button, and continued concentric rings up. Add that to long, relatively thin legs (I am 5'8" and my inseam is 33/34"), and you get the picture!

My exercise program right now is 1.25 hour hockey game (including warmups) on Monday nights, 45 min kickboxing at lunch on Tues/Thurs.

I have been adding 30 day shred level 1 here and there. However, for both better weight loss efforts and that princess half in March, I need to get on a better routine and one that incorporates either wogging either on the TM or outside. Sigh. Have I mentioned how much I hate running?? :P

I also need to get back on sparkpeople and track everything again, instead of just guessing/eyeballing.

In my dream world, I am naturally thin and independently wealthy...

Not for my health. Thats for freaking sure. "When" I exercise, it's to try and make my body look HOT - oh and so I can text EriKa.

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl: OMG too flippin' funny.

Loved the quotations as well. LOVED the quotations.

Paula, I exercise because my body looks HOT doing so. :lmao: Playin' off the cutie. :rotfl:

Ummm no - obviously.

I exercise because without it they would come for me. Come for me with a straight jacket. The truth. Really. Mental health.

Speaking of which. Doing okay. One of our movers just bowed out. Whatever. :lmao: Yeah, that's what I feel - whatever.

Lawyers today. Keys on Friday.

Can we say yahooooo - finally - why yes we can.:worship:

Kelly - what's wrong with you? It is Labour Day. They are the strange people.

Stephanie - first of all - Lyz is right - you do not look 230. Nice to hear you. Excited to have you here. Welcome.

Everyone else :lovestruc

And Liz I felt every one of your words so clearly.:lovestruc

Was reading my Women's Health e-mail tip of the day at lunch and one of the questions caught my eye. They were asking reader's to submit their answer to the following question and it got me curious as to what your answers would be. So here is the question:

Why do you exercise?

Don't be shy... share those answers...

Even though I don't exercise nearly enough, I have so many reasons why I do it.

The big one is the great feeling I get after. It so emotional for me. It helps to erase one or two of those ugly days in my preteen and teenage years. A second reason is because I know I have to exercise to eventually get to my goal. It helps me focus on the baby steps of my plan.

And now, the brutally vain answers. I don't want my thighs to rub together and I really want to have a shapely rear end. It's flat as a pancake and I want some definition. I want the baby belly to get smaller too, but I will take what I can get.

In other news, I am working off of 2 computers tonight. We have been interviewing some people to fill my vacant old position, but our company decided to start a hiring freeze. On behalf of the rest of my team (another supervisor and a specialist), I am writing a position request. It 3 pages long now. Lots of scenarios. They can't do this to us now, my department will crash and burn. We are in dire straits.

I will catch back up tonight, I hope. Until then, hello newcomers! Hi Everybody!

:lmao: why is it that no one ever dreams of being overweight and broke???

You know I :lovestruc this.

I knew you would. And I owe a lot of my attitude changes to you my fine friend :flower3:

so. the question was why do you exercise? I just love it. I'm addicted to the endorphine rush. I love the mind clearing. I love seeing what I can make my body do! Now. If I wasn't having such a love affair with food & drink I'd probably be in some kind of kick-a$$ shape

Hi Stephanie#2 :wave2: nice to meet you.

Erika - core yet? :confused3

Nancy - you beat me to it... I was going to ask Erika about her core workout too... Erika - hope you did it...

Family dinner night = yummy goodness. Birthday cake for dad...

Interval bike workout = offset for yummy birthday cake... a very good thing.

Lisa - I'll be thinking good thoughts for you for your closing. My fingers and toes will be crossed for you...

Hope everyone is having a great night!

Steph - Creeper. I'd be uncomfortable too. Why the heck is that girl involved with a jerk like that in the first place? Really. :confused3 Other than that, how's the new job treatin' you?

We aren't sure whey she is still with him? We are all confused!
New job! ahh well it's really the same job! just full time and different hours! As of August 1 I will be working 1100 am till 730 pm. Weekends are U ready for this OMG 6 am till 230 p.m. This is job "change" was more for security of hours than anything. When things get slow they can't drop my hours any more I HAVE TO HAVE 40 hours. This is the first time in 10 years that I have worked full time! Well as a hired person. The girls that I work with are a good bunch a bit crazy and Zany but a good group, plus I still work with all the girls on the afternoon shift too I get the best of both worlds!

Steph - He sounds like a charm. Seriously, who would want to be with someone like that?

Still trying to figure that one out. Not sure what the attraction is for her??

Hi! GORGEOUS day here. Just gorgeous, so we are heading out shortly. Beach first then pool. We would be at the beach more, but it is in horrible shape due to all of the rain from the last month. All the runoff from the rivers is gross.

The kids have been outside all morning picking blueberries, so that is fun. Of course, now I will have to do something with all of them. They aren't really in full season yet...a couple of weeks to go. But we have SO MANY (all wild. We have over 3 acres and most of it is wild blueberries that Maine is famous for).
mmmm I love maine blueberries! I think last summer we had a blue berry cobbler ice cream at that fair we went to! OMG TO DIE FOR!
Steph--hi stranger!
Hi ERika! yes I know I am slacking on here! I need to get myself a lap top so I can sit by the pool and still keep in contact! I do answer txt messages though!

Hi Ladies, mind if I join you?
Welcome! Another Stephanie! YAY!

Not for my health. Thats for freaking sure. "When" I exercise, it's to try and make my body look HOT - oh and so I can text EriKa.
I like that " make my body look "HOT" is that looking as in heat wise cuz that is all mine looks like when I exercise...lol:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Steph - did you tell your husband about your crazy stalker? I have a feeling he'd take care of it. Just a hunch.
[/B]

No didn't tell him about it! I know he would fly off the deep end and I have to work with the girl, so I don't want to burn any bridges with her. I did threaten her man with going to the police for harassment if he bothered me again. I saved the voicemail that he sent me and I have told him that and with the voicemail.. that would nail him for harassment. So I think he will be on his best behavior I know he tried to call my friend and apologize to him but I told him not to call him that I would deal with it!
The great thing is that I lost 2 pounds from all the stress! LOL!:cool1: and that is with having TOM!

OK speaking of TOM! anyone spot through out the month? Not on any BC and I am spotting all month long and it is getting very very annoying ? any thoughts??? And Yes I do plan on seeing a DOCTOR if it continues.:rolleyes1

Oh I so know the tale of two stomachs! I have Two inner tubes too! top and bottom! belly button some where lost in the middle! I swear the kids did a number on my stomach with the stretch marks! I need to have it all cut off.
I did wear one of Sam's shirts to work today! SIZE LG! a little tight and skimpy but that is what I was aiming for! I want to fit in with the day crew! LOL

I actually do have the 1 & 2 mile DVD (and a few of the VHS tapes as well). I tell myself I'll use those during the winter. I do enjoy them and it seems like the miles go by quickly. While its nice out I can't really justify walking inside when I could just as easily take the dog outside. Plus, DH really has no desire to watch me walk in the living room.

Thanks everyone else for all the warm welcomes.

I did end up taking the dog out again for another walk last night. He was really happy about it and I'm sure it was good for me too.

Morning!

I need challenge goals. Let's go, team!

I will be around to post challenge stuff, but I may be scarce in between. I'll be reading, just not posting much.

Welcome new friends!

Hey all,

Sorry to disappear on ya for a few days. Things have still been really hectic and I really haven't been in the best/most social mood as of late.

Sorry for the long post guys, I'll be back sometime around this evening!

I know that feeling - life and everything gets in the way!

Hi Ladies, mind if I join you?

I've been a frequent WISHer in the past and I'm realizing "again" how much it helps to have people to talk to that know what I'm going through.

Welcome! :welcome: Nice to see pictures of you!

Why do you exercise?

Honestly, my first reason would be to look good! My second reason would be that I feel so much more awake, more full of energy and generally better after exercise, even though I hate it!

LisaV - Yes, LaboUr! I don't know why people want to spell it differently! :rotfl:

Kat - I have the same problem as you - Long legs (Im 5'9, 33-34 leg) and all the weight gathers in one place!

LisaV - Yes, LaboUr! I don't know why people want to spell it differently! :rotfl:
!

I know - think about it Kelly. They refused to pay your simple little taxes - not so politely asked you to get the heck out :rotfl: and then tried to annex little ol' me. :scared1:

Should we really trust them with spelling? :lmao:

Welcome new friends!

Thanks Erika. And hope everyting is just busy.

Me.

Mainly getting back on track. Just working on that. Exercise 6 on/2 off. And water. Getting close to my March low.

Thanks for doing this.

Amiee,

I meant to say this earlier about your post about the challenge. You have to be a "me" person. Have to be. There's nothing wrong with it. And who is going to look after you if you don't. Yes, I know I'm not a mother. But regardless - you look after you, think about your crucial needs and I'm sure that would even be better for them. We have all not worked hard on our challenge goals at one point - I'm sure. You are not alone with that at all. Well I shouldn't speak for everyone on not always pushing themselves but oh well I just did. :lmao:

Okay - :lovestruc

Hmm, you make a good point - no, no we should not trust them with our spelling! :rotfl2:

Wow such a problem Kat and Kelly. Super long, slim and beautiful legs. :lmao:;):lovestruc

My legs are slim up to my knee, after that it all goes pear shaped - literally! :lmao:

Good Morning...

Not much going on here. Still a little sore from Tuesday's workout and am thinking that tonight's session is not going to make me feel any better. Keep pushing through though - right?

Goals... hmm...

strength train 3 days a week
begin 1/2 marathon training 2 days a week
keep my Sunday morning bike rides going
eat on plan 6 / 7 days
drink my water every day
give myself permission to enjoy my successes
don't beat myself up for my slip ups

That list seems unmanageable right now... I need to focus my goals and pare down that list a bit. I should have something more concrete by the end of the day.

Off to do more thinking about this. Jeez - when did a little thing like a challenge goal get so difficult...
