In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Hey all!!! Just sending out a huge group :grouphug:. Miss you all and hope to be back on a regular basis soon....very soon. At least I tell myself that to keep me going!

I got back on track this week and instantly lost 2 pounds. I think my body is sending me codes now, through the scale. Erika, you would be proud, I haven't been on the scale for almost 2 weeks as the last time, I was slightly ticked at myself. I have been pretty consistent this week only interrupted by a round of putting 1500 bales in the barn...finally. Only about 2000 more if we can find some weather! :sad2:

This weekend is a busy one for us (what's new right?), David has a baseball tourney in town and Shelby has a softball tourney in Brewer, about 1 hourish away. They both have to be on their respective fields at 7:45 in the morning. Fun times.

Work is okay. My family is not missing me as much as I thought they would. They seem to be glad to be rid of me in fact. Mike especially. Kind of makes me sad on top of the stress of it all. The job is going okay, I am learning a lot both computer wise and about my coworkers lack of work ethic. I am apparently an oddity doing my best work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Scares me on many levels. Anyway, I am hoping that as soon as the office moves (July BTW...:rolleyes1) I will have more time to DIS and such. Right now it is just learning, training and people watching all the time. I am home today...yay, I am free......:yay: LOL.

Have a super weekend and time until I "see" you all again.

LisaPR! So happy to see you :goodvibes

Hay. I hear yah. We've been doing a lot of that this week as well. Lookin' for the next stretch of good weather as we have a number of fields ready to cut! It's exhausting yet exhilarating work, isn't it!

Cathie - Veg soup & salad for lunch sounds yummy. But may I suggest to try to get some protein in there as well? :flower3:

I'm in a bit of a cranky mood this morning. No real reason...just crabby. Hoping that a good bike ride will help to adjust my attitude.

Anyone have fabulous weekend plans? Mine are so exciting. Really. We are not doing a single THING. :thumbsup2 We actually get to be home! :yay:

Nancy – I did say birthday cake… Dad’s birthday was last week, but we finally got to celebrating it at this week’s family dinner night. Of course everyone left for their homes and my parents went back to camp leaving me with the darn cake leftovers. I had one piece last night after dinner and promptly through the rest of it in the trash. I do not need to finish off that cake this week and it was way too tempting so out it went!

LisaPR – so good to see you back here. Keeping my fingers crossed that you can post more often once the office move is complete. We miss you around here!

My training session was fine last night. Still fighting a little soreness, but it is nothing major. Jesse things it is just that whole delayed onset muscle soreness pain in the butt thing because there was no injury inducing action. Ugh… It is getting better thankfully. Just another typical Friday around here with nothing exciting going on. I am doing some much needed cleaning when I get home tonight (my sister is out of town for work today so no dinner and a movie tonight). My closet and my room look like a bomb went off in there so it is time to wrangle in the clutter and maybe even rearrange furniture. We’ll see how far I get.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Goals Update:

Erika - here it is, my final set of goals for this challenge

stay on my eating plan 5/7 days
cardio workouts - 2 days a week (and morph over to walking from biking to get ready for the 1/2 marathon)
drink my water 7/7 days
get my Sunday morning bike ride in every week

I took the strength training off the list because I do that now with no problems so it really isn't adding anything new. My eating plan has been screwy lately and the scale is starting to show it. Need to reign that in and quick. Also need to focus on this 1/2 marathon training, so those are my main goals...

Thanks again for coordinating this. You are Wonder Woman!

Back from my bike ride, and I'm wondering....

Is today some special holiday that I was not aware of? 'Cause I *swear* it's Kamikaze Chipmunk Day here:squirrel: Those danged little rodents were everywhere this morning.

Paula - :cheer2: on the cake toss! Good call. Hope your muscles recover soon.

Kat- you too! Feelin' any better after your day off?

It is finally going to hit 80 today. First time this summer.

LisaPR!!! So good to see you! (WE sure miss the heck out of you, even in Mike doesn't! :rotfl2:)

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was a win for exercise. I went to the gym at work and rode the bike for 20 min, then took the bad puppy (he used the living room for a bathroom) for a walk after dinner.
Ugh, I'm already breaking one of my goals - we ran out of bread and I didn't have a chance to run to the store so no PB&J, however the caf at work has veggie soup today so I'll get that and a salad and I'll still stay in control.
I'm so glad its Friday, it been a busy week at work. Not that next week will really be any better but at least this one is nearly over.

Have a great day :)

Hi Stephanie and welcome! Sorry I wasn't here the other day to properly welcome you! This is an AWESOME place to work on weight and overall health and wellness.

I know that I am just now meeting you, so I hope you don't take offense if I dispense a little advice. :flower3: I was glad to see that you don't have your PBJs for lunch. There isn't much diet-friendly about a PBJ sandwich. The soup/salad combo is a far healthier option. Throw in some lean protein and you have a super lunch choice. (FYI--Peanut Butter doesn't count as a protein in diet-world. In terms of nutrition, it counts as a fat.)

We have LOTS of folks here who have mastered getting the most bang for your caloric buck, so to speak (ahem, Kat...) and I am sure they will post lunch options along the way. I picked on Kat specifically because, OMG, she is the QUEEN of eating lots of food while NOT eating lots of calories!

Ask questions! We are here for you! And like Liz said, thanks for posting your pics! SO cute! :goodvibes

Hi Erika. Thanks for the welcome. I know pb&j isn't great diet food however it is food I can stick to. Id love soup and salad every day but I can't afford to buy it at the caf and I have no way of heating soup I bring in. What is key for me is something that fills me up, doesn't temp me to buy something else and is easy to make. I've tried a bunch of different ideas to make from home and the only thing that seems to stick is the pbj. No microwave or fridge access anymore at work means no soup or lunchmeat and I can assemble a salad maybe once a month. My current plan is nearly identical to what I did 4 years ago when I lost 60 lbs, however I did ccut out the tasty kake fom lunch. At some point I'll change it but for now too many big changes at once will overwhelm me (like they have in the past).

I do appreciate your concern though. I have to do this gradually, like one day a week making something different and making it part of my day.

I forgot a new tee today so I'll be smelly in yesterday's gym shirt. Oh well at least it won't stop me from going. As long as there are no work emergencies this afternoon, I'm on for a 20 min bike ride.

HERE IT IS!

Kat and Kelly - I have lines for you, thinking that you would want to participate, so just let me know.

Amy--I have a line for you because I KNOW you want in! :lmao:

If you see anything that needs to be changed, just let me know. (Paula, I just noticed that I forgot to add water to your "other goal" so I will do that next time I update things.)

Stephanie--you are SO right to choose something that you can stick with it. That is what is most important. And yes! Smaller changes first. Trying to change everything at once is overwhelming and a recipe for failure! You are totally on it! Good for you! (My comments were only because with all of the low-carb craziness, some folks have been duped into thinking that PB is a low cal or diet type of food.)

I already have a trip booked for the weekend of Oct 24th... come play!!

Challenge, I am in. Labor Day. Track 6/7, exercise 4/7, water 6/7, and hit as close to 180 as possible.

Since you missed it, E, I quoted myself. It even included one of your quoted posts AND something directed at you. I don't feel the love.

This morning was an ER trip to the vet. Not sure what is wrong with my older cat, but it is severe enough that she tried to bite the vet when she touched her lower half. They are currently sedating her so that they can do an exam, so I should know something by early afternoon.

Stephanie - I feel your pain on the no fridge at work thing. Thankfully, we have a microwave so I can heat things up if need be. I pack things in an insulated lunch bag and use a freezer pack to keep things cold and have never had a problem.

I do have a tip to offer on the salad front. When you are ready to start making the change, I bring a salad every day, but it is not always the same salad. I buy my veggies on Monday nights usually and then spend about 30 minutes, washing, chopping and otherwise prepping everything so that when I do need to make my salad, it is a two minute process of dumping the ingredients together. I also used the bagged salad mixes to keep things really easy.

I mix up the ingredients week to week. Sometimes it is spinach with beets, celery a walnut or two and some chicken, other weeks it is romaine with grape tomatoes, yellow peppers, etc. Sometimes, I crave the spicyness of arugala, some weeks I just want mixed leafy greens. I also switch things up with different oli and vinegars as dressings (I use a 1 teaspoon of oil to one tablespoon of vinegar plus some spices as a rule). When I get sick of salads, I just bring veggies - like today I have celery and carrot sticks with a couple tablespoons of greek tzatziki sauce to dip them in. (gotta love the greeks - only they could come up with a dip that you can make with fat free yogurt at little to no calories...) Some days, I will do the same thing, but with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (again - I treat PB as a fat and it is a definite trigger food for me so I use it sparingly).

Good luck..

actually, a salad sounds fabulous. Something light and crunchy. Have always been a salad person.

This weekend it looks like beyonce and I may be apartment/apartment furniture shopping. Not sure. Either way, we're goign through my storage unit to see what is there and what needs to be bought..........yayyyyyy....but hey; moving boxes=exercise :):thumbsup2

Kat -

Oh - poor kitty... good luck with the vet. I hope it is nothing too serious...

Sorry, Kat! You know I haven't been myself lately! Here's the love...

Keep us posted on Cat.

ERIKA!! I so love that you called it the LABOUR Day challenge.:thumbsup2 Makes me feel so....I dunno...international

 I hope everything is ok.

oooooohhh. Like a salad bar in your fridge. Love it :woohoo:

and chick peas. Love me some chick peas in the salad. Good for protein, come in a can so no waiting in line at the deli...

Nancy, I KNOW, right?? That was specially for Kelly and LisaV! :rotfl2:

And again...totally expected LYZ to catch that! Ha! That's twice you've bested her now! :lmao:

I may have missed this (since I am clearly missing thing...:rolleyes1) but Cathie and Stephanie...what do each of you do for work?

ERIKA!!

Exactly... so quick, so easy and you only have to wash the knife and the cutting board once...

Erika - no false illusions about pb here, but I'm amazed by what some of my coworkers believe.

Paula - thanks for the salad ideas. I'm not very adventurous - just cucumber, carrots, egg, ham and maybe some cherry tomatos. I love the 4 seasons italian dressing that you mix up yourself. Sometime in aug I hope to do maybe 1 bag of salad a week (how many lunches would that make?) And I can keeep hoping they fix the microwave that has been broken for months. I love it when progresso veggie claasics are on sale for $1 a can.

Kat - I hope kitty is okay.
