Good morning!! I made it through day 1. Yay!! That first day is the hardest for me.
Anyway, I'll tell you a little about me.
My name is Heidi. I'm fat. I spent most of my life thin. I've struggled with my weight for the past 10 years. I'm married. My oldest son is in college. We saved and saved for years for college, but it still costs so much. My youngest son is 15.
I decided to lose weight in 2004. We were planning our first family Disney trip, and I didn't want my photos to look like crap. I lost about 50 pounds by doing low carb. It worked. My weight started piling on when I got a bread machine as a gift about 10 years ago. I wasn't a bread person, but I sure became one when I got that machine. I was eating warm bread, cinnamon buns, etc. Then I started eating cereal, which I didn't used to do. Lucky Charms, to be exact. Do you know what goes best with Lucky Charms? Bagels with cream cheese. So, you see where this is heading. I packed on the pounds.
After I lost the weight in 2004, I felt so much better. We went to WDW in Dec 2004. I felt great. I looked "normal". After we got home it was just before Christmas, so I allowed myself to enjoy the holiday by eating. By March 2005 I had regained 20 pounds. Then it just snowballed from there.
When we went to WDW in Dec 2007, I was the same weight as I was when I started low carb in 2004. Since then I've put on even more weight. I just didn't care. You can really tell in the photos. I looked like crap. I certainly couldn't walk through the parks as well, either.
Now I'm at the point where I'm huge and embarrassed. My size 1x clothing are too tight, and I refuse to buy anything new. I've got to lose the weight to at least get back into those clothes. What I really want is to get back into my "regular" sized clothing.
My goal is to lose... a lot. I'm too embarrassed to say what my current weight is, or what my total amount I need to lose is.
I've decided to watch my carb intake and my calorie intake. Yesterday was hard since most of my former diet was full of sugar and junk. I'll just take it day by day.
Oh, and I'm a WDW fanatic. We planned to go back this Dec, but with our son in college, we have to wait. That's okay.
I like photography, scrapbooking and paper crafting, animals, drawing, and reading. Today is my miniature schnauzer's 13th birthday. I also have a cat who is almost 12, plus I take care of an outside cat that doesn't belong to us. I love to volunteer.
Today I'm hoping will go well. It seems like forever if I look at how long it's going to take to get this weight off, but I'll just take it day by day.
I'm still trying to catch up reading this thread to get to know all of you.
Thanks for letting me join.
