In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Lisa, you are KILLING me. OMG, garlic bread is my weakness, for sure. In my skinny, skinny 20s I all but LIVED on it. Seriously, I would go and buy a baguette and just make like half of the entire loaf and that was my whole meal. Crazy days.

Good Morning!

And Kelly!!! Haven't you learned that you can't talk about bands around Liz??? :lmao::rotfl2: Now she won't let this drop, you know. She is going to be going on and on and on about them...:rolleyes1

:lmao: I could talk about this band ALL DAY! (I won't though!) :rotfl:

I wanted to thank all of you for the kind words.

I don't think I commented on your post earlier, but you rock for coming here and posting :cloud9: There is no such thing as TMI on this board, never! Anyways, im really glad you joined!

The 2nd - my God, that woman is skinny. And she has great fashion sense. The only thing I'd change about her is her shoes. Hmm. Something comfortable but more refined than those flip flops.

She certainly rocks! LOVE the top you are wearing :lovestruc

It's Canada Day people!!!!! Just sayin' :rolleyes1

Happy Canada Day! :cheer2:

And Little D, ready for a swim

Love this pic!

Even better - Garlic Naan. Heaven.

mmm, Garlic Naan :cloud9: If I remember correctly, Garlic Naan played a BIG part in the infamous '55.5 WW points frenzy' I indulged in :rotfl:

EVERYONE - Love love love your pictures! You all look fantabulous! I don't have any before pictures (they were all lost in an unfortunate but unavoidable 'accident':rotfl:), and I won't bore you with my after pictures! :lmao: I could post a picture of me now, which is inbetween before and after, but I am avoiding the camera at the minute!

Have a great day everyone :upsidedow

Good rainy morning. Today marks something like 23 days in a row of rain. And no end in sight. This is NOT Seattle! New England is gorgeous this time of year! Didn't they get the memo?

Tennis is canceled. Again. Waiting to hear about this afternoon's track meet (they held track practice indoors the last 2 practices since the first FIVE were canceled due to rain). Considering that is an absolute deluge right now and even thundering, I am sure it will be canceled.

I am absolutely FOUL if you can't tell. Seriously, we all are. I honestly think it is a lack of vitamin D from no sun.

Waaaaay too much rain! I'd be foul too.

I'm currently getting my hair styled by a 6 year old. Oh wait, she had to run and visit the hogs. So unprofessional.

Off to start my dizzle.

Holy crap. You know tons of Canadians. Me.:lmao: Jim Carrey, John Candy, Martin Short, Mike Myers, Dan Akroyd, Eric McCormack (Will as in Will and Grace) - see all the funny men to match my funny girl Nancy. :rotfl: And for crazy we'll add in William Shatner. :lmao:

huh. Who knew? Musta been the bee venom that caused my memory loss :daisy:

Pamela Anderson. Good call Lyz! I clearly wouldn't have gotten that last night

Pay no attention to the tough - bobbing for hardware in the cold lake - girl behind the curtain, cutie.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

mmm, Garlic Naan :cloud9: If I remember correctly, Garlic Naan played a BIG part in the infamous '55.5 WW points frenzy' I indulged in :rotfl:

Oh yes. I do recall that day of epic eating. :scared:

It's raining here AGAIN. This is really getting old. Really old. Cold, rainy, ick. Makes me want to bake banana bread or something equally as yummy and non-waist-friendly :rolleyes1

No kidding. Enough already! Where my parents live (CT shore) they got almost 5" of rain yesterday in a 6 hour period. :scared1: And this morning looks like they were getting pounded again.:sad2:

:rotfl2:

As usual, I have an extensive list of crap that I need to get done. But I am lacking any forward momentum. Inertia has taken control of my body!

I think I'll change jobs. I want to be a professional putterer. You know, do a little of this, a little of that. Nothing overly strenuous. And when something gets boring or tedious I'll just move on to the next inane task. Think anyone would hire me?

/
No kidding, Nancy. I am on the coast as well and we have just been taking a beating. The whole state has, really, but it seems that we have had even more activity here at the coast. I am so sick of it.

LisaV, what are you going to do with the unfinished basement? I would so love to finish it into a home theater... :)

Do you have two full bathrooms, then?

Sorry for all the questions, I LOVE house hunting and houses. Yes, I am an HGTV gal.

Lyz, :rotfl: at the competitive ho comment. It's okay to read. I think we all get in those phases sometimes.

Sorry everyone is getting so much rain!! We had such a dreary winter/spring with the rain, so I totally understand how it can get you down.

Here it is just hot. We have gotten now to the part of the summer that a lot of people don't like about living further South... can pretty much expect it to be above 90 from now until mid-Sept. I LOVE the heat and sun, just wish I had a pool.... (oh Steph&Amy??)

I have been taking my evenings completely off the computer lately, so it is harder for me to keep up. I am addicted to catching up on two tv shows via Netflix and DVR, so my evenings have mostly been spent lazy on the couch.

Monday and Tuesday were sunny and HOT. Yesterday and today, sunny, slight rain every now and then...but nothing like New England is facing! I swear, I am actually avoiding the sun and worrying about Emily getting too much color. (I am a skin cancer obsessed mother. We use SPF 70 on her.)

Hey, do you/would you take your kids to the dermo for skin checks yearly? I should ask my dermo. I think maybe she should go, since I have to go every six months, and always always have something removed.

Anyhoo. Feel free to come on down here. We're having a party tomorrow night for the fireworks in town. (Red Bank Fireworks, matching music broadcast on NYC radio station, huuuuuge. Can't get in or out of house after 5pm!) And it's sunny!

Kat! Me too. Adore real estate - watching the market - other cities - floor plans and you know how I could eat buildings.

Oh Kat - how I would love a finished basement. Did you see what they did with the model virtual tour? The basement is fabulous. But that house just sold for around 299 000 and it's only a one bedroom plus den upstairs. No moulah for finishing - YET!:lmao:

For now we will have our exercise options down there. Which is new. I've always had a gym - in both condos. And the last one had a view of the lake and city. It was fabulous. Okay - off that.

No on the bathrooms. One is full with a glass shower. One is partial. There is a rough in for a full in the basement though.

Sending out dry sunny weather vibes to everyone stuck in the rain!! My parents have been talking about the same thing. They are still attempting to camp this weekend up there! They have a pop up camper though, so it probably won't be too bad. Rainy here as well, but that is pretty normal for this time of year here.

Our pool was up to 90 degrees this weekend! all of the rain over the past couple days has dropped it below 80 now. And we went swimming in the gulf on Sunday and that water was warmer than the pool. 94 degrees I think. Almost too warm.

Kat-I think if I ever lived in your area of NC again I would have to have a pool. I remember those super hot, stagnant summer days. Possibly even hotter than here. I also remember ozone warnings.

Does anyone have any exciting weekend plans? Race friday night, fireworks at some point. Lots of sales going on, so we will probably hit the mall. The disney store had loads on clearance. Probably no traditional 4th of july food. I ate too much of that last weekend.

Just read this and thought it might be helpful to some...

It happens — you miss a few workouts and you feel like you've fallen off the weight-loss wagon. It's tempting to mentally slap yourself around, right? (Or head for the fridge.) Before you start, I want to remind you of something: Being hard on yourself is the Old You.
The New You knows how to deal with setbacks and get back on the wagon. And after all, there are no mistakes, just learning experiences. Weight loss is a process — it takes time. You will encounter small failures — everyone does — but every pound you gain can be lost.

And if you miss a workout, it's not the end of the world! Get to the gym the next day and continue to focus on your short-term goals. Just because you made bad choices today doesn't mean you can't start over tomorrow. New day? New beginning. And don't you forget it!

When life throws you curveballs, you can dodge them or let them hit you right between the eyes. Sometimes, though, you don't get a choice. For the moments when you can't avoid them, create a "Rescue Me" list. What kinds of healthy activities make you feel better? How about enjoying a bubble bath, taking a walk, or getting a massage? The next time you're staring down a crisis, reach for the "Rescue Me" list, not a bag of chips.

Liz--I am right there with you on the being the crazy-obsessed-about-the-sun Mom. My blondies have such fair skin (and I am skin cancer waiting to happen) that I am just crazy about it. As for taking kids to the dermo, though, I don't. Our pediatrician does a scan at each annual check-up and I have been satisfied with that so far. I am not sure at what age I will switch and take them to the derm.

Makes me want to bake banana bread or something equally as yummy and non-waist-friendly :rolleyes1

NANCY! I literally thought about making banana bread yesterday. I've done this like, once, but it sounded good. I didn't. That would involve looking for a recipe and buying the ingredients. Lazy.

I think I'll change jobs. I want to be a professional putterer. You know, do a little of this, a little of that. Nothing overly strenuous. And when something gets boring or tedious I'll just move on to the next inane task. Think anyone would hire me?

Wow, this is what I do. But I don't get paid. Hmmm, I think I'm getting a raw deal. DH just found a stack of papers a foot high that need to be copied and put into the proper files. It's been growing since January. I guess now I'll have to do it. Bah.

Sorry everyone is getting so much rain!! We had such a dreary winter/spring with the rain, so I totally understand how it can get you down.

Columbus has a big fireworks show, and Mario Lopez is coming. :rotfl: It's Friday night. We used to go, cause we had a friend who worked for the gas company and we could sit at the top of that 20 story building. Out of the crowd - but we haven't been for years.

Our pool was up to 90 degrees this weekend! all of the rain over the past couple days has dropped it below 80 now. And we went swimming in the gulf on Sunday and that water was warmer than the pool. 94 degrees I think. Almost too warm.

A pool at 90 degrees is too hot to swim in!

I have a reunion to go to Saturday afternoon, and a fireworks cookout Saturday night. Been thinking about what to make.

DYING to go to the Disney Store.

Great ariticle EriKa. Just read your post.

Cleaning up "my pictures" section. Aaaah, a bit sad. Don't mind me. Maybe this will help. Here are some pics of my view from my condo

From the narrow part of the terrace. It had a part where the depth doubled. Yes, I'm reminiscing. Smiling. I guess I should never have vowed to clean up my pictures. But here they are.

And some pictures of the neighbourhood that we lived in for ten years. It's the original city. I mean original hub location of the past.

Loved this Erika. :lovestruc Thank you.

Aaaarrrhhhhhh! I cannot see the pictures! My MIL is visiting us this week (see returns home Saturday). Among other changes, it means that I've lost my "computer chair" for the week. The recliner she prefers is where my laptop nestles against the fireplace. I've taken it upstairs, but it's just not the same. I've been reading the thread at work and the, I'm sure, amazing photos that you guys have been posting don't come through due to "the man." I will get to see them tonight and look forward to it.

Welcome Heidi! This is a great place for support. I started at 245 ten years ago and am around 180 now. I have lost in fits and starts, but I've changed a lot of habits, too.

So we went to St Louis last weekend for a family reunion on Sue's side. Her mom returned with us and we will meet her sister halfway this weekend to get mom back home. She is in her late 70s and is slowing considerably. Little stamina for getting out and about. Sue bought a wheel chair last year. It's a huge help.

I missed a run because of yard work at S's mom's and felt bad about it. I got back on track with Tuesday and Thursday runs this week. I love the Rescue Me list. Great idea!

I've requested the Moose book through the library. Thanks for the tip. LOVE the library. They just give you stuff - FOR FREE!!

Our weather this week is as it should be, which is to say 80s. Last week's heat indices were well over 100 and it wasn't even July. This week has been dry. Golf Tuesday night was a true delight. Not only for the weather, but the pace of play was great. There was no one ahead of us until the 7th hole! I think everyone took the week off for the holiday.

Okay, back to work.

Ronda

That is so awesome!!! I would love a workout basement. I would so put in a punching bag, and an elliptical trainer, and mount a tv down there... SO jealous!

I loved your condo pics, too. I used to have that kind of view (and space!) when I lived in Chicago, and had to give it up to live in sunny surburbia, in '00 when I moved here. You do get used to it, but I do miss the urban lifestyle now and again.

Kat-I think if I ever lived in your area of NC again I would have to have a pool. I remember those super hot, stagnant summer days. Possibly even hotter than here. I also remember ozone warnings.

I wish more houses had pools! I would so love a FL-style pool with the screened lanai... For some reason, though, even though we have warm weather for like 7-8 months a year, pools are rather uncommon.

I don't... decided against going to Pittsburgh. We may hit a party up on Sat afternoon, but other than that, lots of lazing on the couch w/ a purring kitty or two. :)

Hi everyone...

Lisa - loved the pics from your old place. The buildings were very cool (especially the one with the really narrow rounded end) and there was even a tower crane! Those always bring a smile to my face. Thanks for sharing them. Can't wait to see the pics of the new place once you are in. Think of the new memories you are going to be making there. Oh and the little fuzzballs are too cute!

Erika - thanks for your post. I needed that today because I have been an eating machine for the past two days. Trying really hard not to veer off plan today, but it has been hard. I just want to eat everything in sight right now. I ate lunch two hours ago and am already feeling hungry again - what the hell?

It is rainy and dreary here as well. I really need this rain to stop so I can get a rid in on my actual bike with my new camelback before next week. ugh... I want the sun (but you can keep your 90+ temps thank you...)

Ugh... just want this day to be over already. Too much rambling through my mind right now. I need to work out tonight to clear my head and keep me away from the food that is in my house!
