In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Flying - just for the weekend. $59 SW each way.

Now it's at $146. I was going to change to leave Friday morning but can't now it's at $146. Eeek. Get in late on Friday. Leave on Sunday.

But thought WTH.

OMG. I haven't even left yet and I'm already lost :lmao:

I was just informed by Mr. Rand McNally himself that I'm not really going where I think I am :scared1: yipee. This is going to be a party pixiedust:

Lisa - we got honeycomb when we went shopping in the big city. At Lazarus. They had a candy counter, and we'd always always get some. I was young. We had little money, and there were 5! (eventually 6) of us. It didn't go far, but we loved it.

Gonna get kicked off the computer now.

Lyz- these are my work forms. Teaching. I get my own ESL class most summers. I will not be getting work because I missed the date, a new special change the friggin' date and I'm too up into finding a home to notice date, to send in my forms. It's all seniority on who gets what class. I'm so screwed. Oh yeah that will be bleeped.

Oh my. That is bad!

Good luck Nancy! Maybe your horse will know the way home.

K - is iced tea better than pop?

I have never been a tea drinker but on our trip in March, Dan and I went to the Grand Floridian Tea. Neither of us our hot tea drinkers and they had a cold fruit tea press we tried. AWESOME!

Then I had a hibiscus tea at that Festival of Nations a few weeks back. Hotter than blazes out here and got a passion fruit tea from Arby's. (We need to get that water line hooked up here to the fridge so I get some darn ice.)

Anyway I have done 0 research into tea and am just wondering the consensus form you all.

I drink 0 coffee, normally a pop is a once every 2 week thing. I know milk is putting Helga Holstein on my hips and I want to find something once in a while besides water. I hate brown tea (sun tea) so let me have what ya got on info please!

I ate 0 from Arby's BTW! Just swung through for a drink! :cool1:

#2 BTW: It is no joke a dust bowl here. I have a hay bale wedged between my teeth as I type. :teeth:

Dawn - as long as it's not sugar tea. Which is the only way I like it. And I'm no expert, but I believe green tea is very good for you. Unsweetened.

Dawn - As one of the resident tea drinkers in the bunch, I'll chime in. Fresh brewed tea (black, herbal, green, white, etc) are basically calorie free provided you don't sweeten them. There are many benefits to drinking brewed tea, but you would usually have to drink gallons of the stuff to reap them. Having said that, drinking 2 - 3 cups of tea a day can up your antioxidant levels. I used to drink tons of fresh brewed, black iced tea and have recently cut way back because of caffiene issues (couldn't get to sleep at night because I was wired). They do make decaffinated black tea bags and I keep those on hand if I am craving tea at night now. I don't drink soda, so if I am not drinking water, iced tea is my beverage of choice. There are a ton of tea choices out there so play around with flavors until you find one that you like. I have a friend who makes iced tea with half green tea and half black. Another likes the fruity herbal teas. I like the plain, unsweetened black tea, but that's me. Just remember, the calories come from the sugar you add. I tend to stay away from the fake sweeteners too since they do some funky things to your body. I know what sugar does to it (increases my waistline amongst other things), but who really knows what the long term effects of splenda, equal and all the other fake stuff is. Hope this helps.

LisaV - I am sending you hugs. With everything going on right now, it sounds like you need them. Oh and I am with Lyz - so need details for your quick trip to WDW in like a week and a half...

Nancy - safe travels to Springfield...

LisaZ, please remind me how old your kids are again? Sorry for forgetting!

Trust me -- I can't remember what I was doing 15 minutes ago!!!
I have one kid -- she's 13.

I had an incredibly brutal beating with Erin this morning. :scared: She took some insane Boot Camp class over the weekend - and I think it gave her more motivation to push us to our limits  I asked the girls at the front desk to put arsenic in her coffee....:rolleyes1

:rotfl:

Lakers just took Denver. What a flippin' game. :worship:

They're gluttons for punishment. Or just prolonging the inevitable humiliation.

3. Truth be told, I mostly quilt as opposed to other types of sewing. And I haven't made a quilt in, I don't know, like 5 years. I was really into it for a while though.

I've been working on the same Disney castle cross-stitch kit for the last 2 years -- and I'm still only about 1/4 done.

Alright. Off to cut teeny labels and place them on 120 invites cause I like poking myself with sharp objects!

Eek!

I get my own ESL class most summers. I will not be getting work because I missed the date, a new special change the friggin' date and I'm too up into finding a home to notice date, to send in my forms. It's all seniority on who gets what class. I'm so screwed. Oh yeah that will be bleeped.

So sorry to hear that.....hey, still not bleeped!

Hi everybody! :)

Here is Arby's nutrition info on the 2 types I would be interested in. I only have had the passion fruit one.

Diet Blackberry FruiTea Ingredients 0 calories 4 carbs 0 sugar
Passion Fruit Iced FruiTea 100 calories 25 carbs 25 sugars

The diet kind has splenda in it.

The passion fruit one has pure cane sugar. ( I am leaning to as much natutral as possible)

I will say I have never been to Arby's nutritional site and it is helpful. You can click on any product they have and create a meal and have totals for your nutrition. Not that I want to be eating there but at least if that were the case, you can go in with a pre-plan and know you are on track or not.

So my mini research is that there are options that have way less calories and carbs for fruit tea's than reg pop.

I also bought some tea bags to try and make some from home that are fruity and can be served cold so I will let ya know.

Dawn - As one of the resident tea drinkers in the bunch, I'll chime in. Fresh brewed tea Do you mean freshly brewed being from a tea bag tha you put hot water over? I do not have a tea pot to my name so making sure that constitutes brewed. Tea Virgin here! Do not laugh at me! :lmao:(black, herbal, green, white, etc) are basically calorie free provided you don't sweeten them. I made a cup from 2 tea bags for 8 oz of boiling water (followed instructions) and had to add another 8 oz of water plus ice to like it. Like a watered down fruit punch. It was way too strong for me otherwise. But I like the taste and did not add sugar.

I don't drink soda, so if I am not drinking water, iced tea is my beverage of choice. I am trying to stay 100% away from soda as well. I did have a sparkling water made form Target yesterday that was Wild Cherry. No calories or sugar and was awesome! Trying to get into the habbit of drinking not eating when those hunger pains hit because I know I do not have enough water in me and am eating out of dehydration.

Just remember, the calories come from the sugar you add. Sweet Lord I may have stumbled onto something tah will not add to my waist and help me stay satisfied!:worship: I tend to stay away from the fake sweeteners too since they do some funky things to your body. I know what sugar does to it (increases my waistline amongst other things), but who really knows what the long term effects of splenda, equal and all the other fake stuff is. Ditto. Funny how I know a cupcake is not a good choice but I am okay with it but fake sugar gets me nervous. :lmao: Hope this helps.
You as always help a ton!

Trust me -- I can't remember what I was doing 15 minutes ago!!! Ummm are you in my head? Wait what were we talking about?:confused3:rotfl2:

If I am not back by 5 p.m. I may have blown to Kansas. I am strapping cement blocks to my feet in attempts to stay in the yard. Wind gusts of 65 miles per hour were just clocked in my bathroom as I tried to do my bizness.:rolleyes1:lmao:

Dawn - if you are drinking fresh brewed iced tea, it must be diluted down, so you are on the right track and no, you don't need a teapot. I usually make mine a one quart sauce pan on the stove. Fill the sauce pan with water and bring to a rolling boil. Take off the heat, add four tea bags (you can do more or less depending on how strong you like your tea) and let steep for about an hour or so. Toss the tea bags and transfer to a 1/2 gallon pitcher, add water to fill and chill. Easy - peasy...

This will keep for about two days before it starts to turn a little funky (no preservatives). When it starts to turn, it will start to turn cloudy and generally taste bitter and it is time to toss it and make new. Sometimes, for a treat, I'll have a glass with a splash of 100% cranberry juice in with the tea to provide a flavor punch. Just watch the calorie counts since juice tends to be a calorie hijacker if not tracked. Starbucks also makes a yummy iced tea. You can get it unsweetened in black, green or passionfruit flavors. If they are unsweetened, they are virtually calorie free.

The stuff from Arby's doesn't sound fresh brewed so there is next to no antioxidants or other good stuff that tea is known for there. It has to be brewed tea to find that.

Paula - thanks for all the info! I dolike the kind I found to make at home so I am glad there is good in it.

Baylor was sick last night (flu that Treyner and Carsyn had the last 2 weeks) but feeling better now. He is outside trimming Barberry (no clue if spelling is right) hedges that Chad had planted that have all these sharp thorns. I did not want them sam I am. They should have been done a few weeks ago but with all the inside stuff I forgot.

Anyway - sharp as heck and he went out wearing a face shield, and long pants, shirt and gloves to protect himself...all camo. He looks like he is ready to go Rambo on someone. i will have to try and get a picture.:lmao:

Planted flowers and it is hot out.

Need to paint trim on front of house, bring in black dirt and level out some spots and hope grass seed will grow in 3 1/2 weeks. :worship:

Not trying to have a perfect house by any means but it will be a great feeling to know how much Dan and I have done since he moved in here. Progress in your life comes in many forms.

I have some other important news to share but will p.m. it to you all since there are lurkers I would prefer not to share with.;)

Hi! :wave2:

Lisa Z, your kid is 13? OMG. Wow. I had it in my head she was like 9 or 10. Not that 3 years is huge, but it's different set of things going on.

Speaking of which. My "niece" (not my actual blood niece, but my BFF's kid, who is named after me) is 11. She is the baby. My nephew is 16. (Which makes me feel very old, btw). Anyway, at 11 I was babysitting and being more adult and she is being very very babied. Be honest, moms. Would you ever allow your 11 year old to be carried out of the house because she was tired? She's like 5 ft. Okay, maybe 4' 10". But she's tall and thin and not a little girl - she's a young lady! She totally tells her mom what's what, but nicely - like, "Mom, I told you Emily wasn't allowed to have chocolate milk!". funny like that. But really, why is my otherwise intelligent friend of the last 26 years allowing her child to act like she's 5?

Kat - you met her! Remember? She's not a little kid.

Anyhoo.

I'm sitting here reading about you non-soda drinkers with my Diet Coke 2 liter next to me and a bag of Smart Food. That's my life. :lmao:

Sponge aka Honeycomb Pics. Chocolate covered.

Lyz! Did you take one for the team and go get yourself some of that toffee/sponge/whatchamacallit just to show us pictures? :cool1: I had no idea what the heck that stuff was. NOW I get it :thumbsup2

Good luck Nancy! Maybe your horse will know the way home.

Do you know that there seems to be an aversion to street signs in the city? Why are there only signs on the CROSS streets, but nothing to indicate the name of the road the highway exit just dumped you onto??? OMG. It was nuts. But I made it. :dance3:

I ate 0 from Arby's BTW! Just swung through for a drink! :cool1:

Good job! :thumbsup2

Not much of a tea drinker, so no help from me. (only green tea - hot.) Except that I would have to ask about the caffine content? Paula - do you drink reg? Decaf? Do you worry about that at all?

I have one kid -- she's 13.

ah. 13 year old girl. I have one of those. Magical days these are :scared:

Nope. By the age of 11 she should be carrying ME because I'm tired. Or drunk. Or just plain lazy

See, this is why I love you. Hells yes. I swear I could make a mixed drink at 11, and serve at 10. But maybe that's just me mixing up my childhood with repeat viewings of "Auntie Mame". :rotfl:

The teen-age years scare the bejeebers out of me, I tell ya. :scared1: I will have 3 in high school at the same time. :faint:

LisaZ--love that she is a catcher! Please post a pic when you can. Kel is all of 6 (and the size of a 4 year old), so seeing her act like a serious catcher was a riot.

Paula/Dawn--yes, tea, word. I live on tea sometimes. I drink like 40-60 ounces/day (not for health benefits or anything, just because I love it). I drink only decaf green tea. And sometimes I use Splenda or Equal.

Paula is spot-on here, so listen to her. :listen:

Here's the thing, we all know that artificial sweeteners are not good, right? I mean, diet and weight loss aside, this is a chemical. (My dad calls stuff like this "food by DuPont" :rotfl2:) But I use artificial sweeteners from time to time. I drink Crystl Light, for example. And I eat fat free yogurt, which contains it as well.

Sure, the best thing is probably to eliminate it entirely. But my diet is very good overall. Healthy, vegetarian, tons of fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains and all of that. So I don't sweat the sweetener. It use it in moderation and I think that is fine.

And even if you don't eat that well, my take is that artificial sweetener may well be the lesser of two evils when compared with certain sugars. Take soda for instance. If your choice is a regular coke or a diet coke, OMG the diet Coke is by far the better option, sweetener and all.

Moderation. Think smart and you will eat smart. Start doing crazy diets and eating plans, and that's what you'll get as well. The best weight loss tool you have at your disposal is your brain.

Nope. By the age of 11 she should be carrying ME because I'm tired. Or drunk. Or just plain lazy

:rotfl2::lmao:

OMG, this made me spew my TEA. :rotfl2:

Never in a million years would I allow my 11 year old to act like that. I don't allow Cammie to act like that at age 8. And the only reason we let Kel get away with that is due to her illness and she knows how to guilt us into it. Plus, she is so light that sometimes we can't resist just picking her up and squeezing her.

For size reference (this will make sense to those of you with kids)...she is 6.5 years old now and JUST hit the 40 pound mark last month. I'm willing to bet that Miss Emily is bigger (though she is turning 5 in just 2 months! Wow!). She has grown a lot this year, though, so that is awesome. She is still the shortest in her class, but now the next-to-shortest is only about 2" taller. Of course, the tallest kids in the class are well over a head taller than she is. I will have to post pics of her hanging out with friends at some point; the size difference is pretty incredible.

Wow, way to make it about my kid, eh? Sorry! :rotfl2:

(Petting the bottle of DC like a lover...)

OMG. Breaking news. Got approved for Mirena. Going in tomorrow. Soooo excited. Lyz, it better be everything you raved about!

OMG, you all have posted alot!!

Disney was RAINY yesterday. I mean we need rain here, but this was ridiculous. So, after our shopping excursion to the outdoor store, we hit EPCOT and DH got his fun card. Of course Norway was out of the shirt he wanted. The card has no expiration date, so we'll get it some other time. Walked around world showcase a bit and then headed to Big River Grille for dinner. Planned on going back to EPCOT for illuminations, but another deluge started, so we headed back home.

I started out the day with a scratchy throat, itchy eyes. By this morning, I had a horrible head cold. So, I am kinda loopy on all those wonderful cold meds.

Tea rocks! Have any of you tried truvia sweetner? It is pretty good and is all natural.

Off to attempt to catch up.
