In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Hi Kelly! Welcome to "on"! I think I need to join you.

It's MUCH cooler here today. upper 40*s this morning. Going out for a bike ride in a bit here.

I'll join you guys with "on". I'm more "on" this week than I was last week, but not all the way.

Cooler here today, too. In fact, raining. But 60's instead of 90's.

Last night was aerobics and when I walked into the community center, I thought "oh crap, it must be 90 degrees in here!". Fortunately the gym was well air conditioned. Those poor folks working the lobby though....

The weather is thankfully a little cooler so it should be a beautiful day.

Get out and enjoy it everyone...

I would be out enjoying it if I didn't have to be at work. :sad2:

Hi Everyone :)

So, my name is Kelly and as of today I am ON. Seriously, considering I was only 1lb away from goal the weight gain over the past couple of weeks has been quite frankly embarrassing, and a little ridiculous!

So there it is. I am back on. :cool1:

WOO HOO, Kelly! I am in "extreme ON" mode. :rotfl2: I leave a week from tomorrow and want to get just a couple of pounds off. I am short enough and close enough to goal that 2-3 pounds is really a noticeable difference. So I am right there with you!

Wow! Look how early Lyz is on!

Erika - how are exams going?

Eh. Just time consuming. I wouldn't be so stressed if it wasn't for going away next week. But I have to have all of the papers/exams graded, final grades calculated and submitted, and graduation sign-offs done before I leave. Plus, I have to get my regalia out and to the cleaners since I get back late Thursday and graduation is Saturday morning. LOTS to do to get ready for that.

There are a couple knuckle-head body builder types that work out in the morning - when there are 2 -3 of them, no biggie - but when there's a LOT  I think it's like a pack of dogs. They just get that nasty growl attitude and feed off one anothers testosterone filled energy :rolleyes1

Good luck with the bike today!

I hear you about the muscle-heads. My gym doesn't have them. The owner intentionally doesn't have really heavy dumbbells and that equipment in order to keep them out.

Paula--yes, bike! We need to know everything. Ev. ry. thing. I am bringing mine up today and heading out for a ride shortly.

Dawn? What's happened to you?

She doesn't post here any more.

I can feel it in my clothes when its 2-3lbs, but this time its actually 7-8lbs. How crazy that it goes on so fast but takes so long to come off!

She doesn't post here any more.

Something we said? :confused3

Erika, I don't know if ive asked this before so excuse me if I have, but what is your job? Are you a teacher or college teacher? what do you teach?
Feel free not to answer, I am just nosy! :lmao:

Trust me - you will be getting all the details, once I understand them all myself... :rotfl2:

I like the sounds of your gym. I am not a big fan of the muscleheads at all. The guys who were there last night intimidate me because I could just sense that they were not taking me seriously All of the looks read, who does this fat chick think she is kidding here. Of course my return looks were screw you so it all worked out.

The crowd that is there when I am usually there have a few muscleheads in it, but they are pretty low key and at the lower end of the musclehead spectrum so they aren't so bad. One of them even acknowledged me when we saw eachother in Starbucks. I think Jesse finally understood how the gym can be a scary and intimidating place to newbies based on my reaction last night.

Time for me to get back to work. I am heading outside for lunch so that will make me happy. It is way to nice to be inside all day.

Ciao'

Paula, I don't think I knew you were a Devs fan. Sorry about your team.

Kelly, sorry about more MIL drama.

I am back on, too. Sick as a dog today. Hate colds.

OMG. Remember when we said you'd probably get a cold after this visit? WOW.

Reading here, playing along at home. In my mind I've replied to each of you at length!

Kelly - details? Can you share?

Lisa Z and Kelly and the rest of us - I'm on since Monday! Woo-hoo!

Nancy - big old kid update, please.

Erika - travel dates and plans so we can clear you, please.

Ronda - loved the pics!!!!!!

Paula - bike shop. Cool. Gym=scary to newbies. Word. How do people NOT get that?

Gotta jet. Be back later!

Nancy - Have fun on your bike ride. I'll be checking in later with the results of my shopping excursion.

It was a great ride. Except for the nasty headwind that I had to battle for the last 7.5 miles. Stupid air. :rotfl2:

[BMuch better to be "half on" than all the way "off" ;)[/B]

Thank God for airconditioning :woohoo:It woulda been a sauna workout otherwise.

A week from tomorrow. :yay: Did you decide to surprise the kids? I don't remember you revealing your plans...

She doesn't post here any more.

So I've noticed. :sad2:

Well, Dawn, if you are out there - hope your remodeling project is moving along and that you, the kids, the man, the dog - everyone is doing well :flower3:

The Albany River Rats are the local AHL hockey team. I used to have season tickets (many moons ago) back when we were affiliated with the NJ Devils so I have been following a lot of the players from their days in Albany. (Plus, my company built their new arena in Newark) Also, Marty Brodeur had such an amazing season that adding a cup to that would have been sweet. The Rats are now the farm team for the Hurricaines, but I haven't had a chance to really get to know the team. At some point, my allegience will probably shift, but it is going to take some time.

Feel better soon Kat...

The lower end of the musclehead spectrum? :lmao: OMG that struck me as one of the funniest phrases I've heard in a long time.

AAAHHHHHH! KAT HAS SWINE FLU!!!

:lmao:

Nancy - big old kid update, please.

Nothing definitive to report, really.

Phone call yesterday morning basically went like this.
S: "I f'ed up and missed the deadline due to a misunderstanding".
Army: "yep. But we need your paper. Can't do anything without your paper"
S: "I faxed it on Saturday"
Army: "I haven't seen it yet"

To which, *I* would have said: Then look harder :rolleyes1

S: "It should be there"
Army: "we'll look into it"

SO. tomorrow morning, he has late opening and then double period study hall. Doesn't have to be at school until 10:00. He'll be on the phone again.

Kat - Feel better soon

Kelly - details? Can you share?

I can share, to be honest Im not 100% on the details - it was DH who was involved!
Basically, her and SIL have been talking about me (b*tching if you like), comparing their wedding and ours. SIL made a comment on facebook, DH saw it and called her out on it.
BIL got involved until DH told him what had happened, then he took a step back and said he didn't want to be in the middle of anything.
Then last night MIL turned up at our house all nice as pie and DH told her he knew what she had said, she needed to take a good long look at herself and if she didn't accept me after all these years then maybe she should stay away for a while. He told her he would go and visit her but I wouldn't visit until her attitude changed.
She then got pissy and said I shouldn't let 'little comments' get to me as im a grown woman. At that point DH told her maybe it was time to leave, as she couldn't come into our home and insult me.

During the exchange last night, I didn't say a word.

And thats that. DH hasn't spoken to his mum today (but thats not unusual), but he has spoken to BIL and they are fine.

Families, who'd have them?! :rotfl2:

The lower end of the musclehead spectrum? :lmao: OMG that struck me as one of the funniest phrases I've heard in a long time.

Glad I could provide some entertainment on this fine afternoon...

Kelly - I am so sorry about what you and your DH are dealing with. That can't be easy, but I totally love your husband for sticking up for you!!! Hope things settle down soon.

Sheesh! That was a busy hour here on the thread! :rotfl2: I go sit on my deck for just a short time and look at what you all do!

Kelly--yes, I am a college professor. Behavioral Science. And you can always ask me anything. I pretty much blurt out the details of my life to anyone. :lmao:

Trip info:

Thursday morning--the girls and I leave. Arrive at BCV at 2pm ish. Probably just hang out at the pool, shop at DTD, and enjoy the Boardwalk at night.

Friday - girls and I do MK. Riley and Jeff arrive that night.

Saturday - I am hoping to get to the start of the Muddy Buddy to cheer on the Podcast team. Then we all head to Epcot for the day.

Sunday - character breakfast, head to the Port and get on the ship. 4 nights. Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay are the ports of call.

Thursday - off the boat at 9am, swing into WDW for maybe a character meal before heading to the airport.

Kat-Hope your cold goes away quickly!! I guess I should get my Canes jersey out of my winter clothes bin!!

Paula- I am also looking forward to your bike shopping report!

Kelly- Sorry to hear about all the MIL drama, but great that DH is taking charge of the situation. And WTG for being back ON!

Erika- The trip itinerary sounds fantastic!! Do you need dressy clothes for the cruise at all? I also need to go bathing suit shopping. I have a lands end one that I love and is fine for the pool at home, but I think I need a new one that fits better for more public outings.

Nancy- That sounds like one heck of a bloody nose. :scared1: Yikes!!

Liz, Lyz, Steph, LisaZ,Ronda:

and DAWN where are you? We need more remodel pics, and I think we still need to see some pics from your March Disney trip. How is your diet going to manage your insulin resistance?? :surfweb:

So, I have taken to weighing in on Wednesday or Thursday, they seem to consistantly be my low days for some reason, and I weighed in at 181 this morning!!!:cool1: so just over a pound until I make my May 8th goal!

Have a fantastic afternoon!

Amy - one pound away from your goal with over a week to go.... Awesome!!!

OMG. Remember when we said you'd probably get a cold after this visit? WOW.

I know it, right?? New germs (or new to me, anyhow).

Btw, what was the name of that hotel chain in DC that you were telling me about? Yes, I have a mind like a sieve.

The Albany River Rats are the local AHL hockey team. I used to have season tickets (many moons ago) back when we were affiliated with the NJ Devils so I have been following a lot of the players from their days in Albany. Ah, makes sense. We used to have the Lowell Lock Monsters, I think the River Rat shift came about 2 yrs ago?

AAAHHHHHH! KAT HAS SWINE FLU!!!

:lmao:

Yeah, because I haven't heard THAT one at all today! :rolleyes1

Good luck with Seth!

Kat - Feel better soon

I think my response was that, as a grown woman, perhaps she shouldn't *make* those 'little comments'.

Great for DH for taking your side!!

I don't think I realized you were a fan!

AWESOME on the progress!! :yay:

Hi everyone...

Well, I did it, I bought a bike. I pick it up on Saturday.

This is my new baby....

http://www.trekbikes.com/women/wsd_products/bikes/bike_path/72fxwsd/

Can't wait to try it out. Now I guess it is time to get those bike shorts out. Hope the world is ready to see me in those... :rotfl:

Erika and Nancy - thanks for the words of advice (from way back when Erika was shopping for her tri bike). They were most helpful...

PAULA!

Did you know that is the same bike I have??? I know I told you what I ride, but didn't know if that is why you got it (since it was ages ago that we had the bike talk). Mine is silver, but still the Trek 7.2 FX. Yours is the Trek 7.2 FX WSD. Not sure what the WSD means and how it differs? It is a good all-around fitness bike. I am now waiting to get my road bike, but I took this out for a spin today. Jeff has one, too. We have had ours for one year and needed zero maintenance so far. I got my out today, just had to add some air to the tires and I was good to go.

I am SO glad you got this bike! It is a really good first fitness bike. Trek makes a helluva product and the fact that you came away with this shows that you went to a good bike shop. Cyclist magazine just ranked this as the #1 first bike...mostly because you don't ever have to "outgrow" it even once you are an experienced rider.

What are you doing about the saddle (seat)? Right now, I still have the original one on there, but I was thinking during my ride today I might try a new one. It wasn't uncomfortable, but wasn't as good as could be, I thought. Often, when you get fitted for a bike at purchase time, they will suggest the right saddle as well. Did they do this for you?

Also, most bike shops have group rides on the week-ends. They often have a beginner group that really teaches you how to ride (meaning how and when to use which gears, etc.). Do they have anything like that? I am thinking I will join the bike club this summer. I want to...just a time thing at this point. (These are almost always free, btw. And the local group here also goes out for breakfast after the ride, so it can be a nice way to meet people as well.) Of course, you will need a bike rack for your car now. :rotfl2:

Ok, ok. I could go on and on. I'll wait. But not patiently. :rotfl2:

Kelly! Your MIL is awful. But I am loving your husband. :goodvibes

AMY! WOW! The loss! Incredible! SUPER proud of you!

What is your eating plan these days?

RANT WARNING!

Feel free to skip this entire post. Honestly -you won't miss much.

Ok. This whole swine flu thing has gone to far. I'm so done.

I'm at Costco. My phone rings. It's an automated message from our Superintendent updating everyone on the "policy & plan" for this whole swine flu mess. Kids in Elementary will be bringing home notices, HS kids will get emails. Thanks for listening.

Fine. I go home, read the email. It's all common sense crap. Wash your hands. Throw away used tissues, extra cleaning of door knobs, light switches, etc etc. Oh, and btw, if there is a "suspected" case of flu at any given school, said school will be closed for 2 days. If there is a confirmed case of swine flu the entire district will be closed for 7 days.

Fine. Whatever.

I'm making dinner. I get another one of those nifty automated messages. (Honestly Liz. This would be GREAT for your school. No more 6:00am phone calling) It's an update to the previous message, email & letter.

A student at one of the elementary schools has been "diagnosed by the family physician as having a flu-like illness upon returning from Cancun". Said elementary school is closed the next 2 days pending confirmation of virus by the state Dept of Health. Jesus F. Christ. You MUST be kidding me. Really. Please tell me this is a joke.

If they close the whole district for a week I am going to cry. Literally.

Rant over. I feel better now.

Feel free to carry on with your normal business now...;)
