In Search of My Body....Not the One I ATE! Vol. 5: Goddesses are Always on Top!

Yay Liz!!!! :yay: :yay:

I have my lovely monthly migraine, although it is letting go some now. Tomorrow AM I have a consultation with the dr to see about Mirena. Also, the NP changed up my bc so I am hoping that this is the last one. I am going to ask the dr tomorrow if there is something that he can prescribe me just in case, though. I really don't want to go through one more of these, they are hateful.

I ate like complete crap last night. Why does stress make me turn to food?

Liz - awesome work on the loss!
Steph - is your hair naturally curly - looks very free and fun - mine is tight & ugly. Looks awesome!

For all you in wind and rain - we woke up to 22 below zero windchill - high of 14 today. :sad2: WTbejeweled heck is going on. This weekend high of 44. Let's go spring!

I will know by Friday the reults of all the testing.

Consensus is that I will be following a diabetic diet. I intend on spending much of the weekend reading and understanding the differences of that and how to implement it with watching points if I can.

Both my parents have diabetes. Grandparents on all sides and they think I have insulin resistance as of now. No diabetes but the precurser to. Yes it can be genetic but my diet and excersize can alter this progression. Even if the tests come back that all is great -besides the fact I am fat - I think it is a wise and helathy choice to make. Good for the whole family and good long term for staying commited to a food plan. My Dad lost part of his toe to diabetes, my dad's great grandma lost her leg so long history on that side. On my mom's side - she and my uncle have it - her mom got glacoma from diabetes and lost much of her eye sight. Time to face the music and at 37 stop the excuse train.

They are looking at Metformin which can aid in the insulin resistance as well as deal with PCOS. They seem to go hand in hand. Anyone know of it or know anyone on it?

Off to keep painting! I love the downstairs - darker color is "baked bean" and the lighter is "harvest wheat" I believe from Menards. Winter White is the trim and doors. Looks brighter and matches the rec room teen furniture great that got moved from upstairs. Things there are coming along great.

Paula -
Heard from a trainer on the radio that the biggest mistake a person can do when starting a workout regime is not to hire a trainer. That the development and physical capabilities you have needs to be individualised to have great results and no injury. To push you to your limmits and not over and to show you proper form so you can sustain this life. I thought of you and your success since Jesse!

He said if you are new to working out and do so 1 hour 3 times a week - 30 minutes cardio and 30 strength training is good ratio. If you workout a lot - circuit training to maximise calorie loss.

Ok - that is all I have!

I don't take vitamins. I know your shocked as I'm "the" model of clean living. But I figure I get enough CH and PB that I'm covered.

That's one of the things I was going to comment on this a.m. but forgot. Not your CH & PB intake. That I don't take vitamins. Not necessarily because I don't think I should, but because I just can't ever remember :headache:

But really - I do think I'm a-ok without them. And given my advanced medical knowledge, there is no doubt I am right :rolleyes1

Steph - I wanted to say I like your hair curly too!

Me too. (kinda looks like mine actually!!! ;) )

So. Lost 2lbs this week! Back on the losing train! :cool1: FINALLY.

YAY!!! :yay: That is so fabulous!!

Dare I ask how Nick is doing with his 37 points?

I'm wondering the same thing. How's the poor guy doing? Managing to suffer thru with only 37 measly points?

I have my lovely monthly migraine, although it is letting go some now.

Sorry about the migrane. Hope the Dr. can help you out with that!!

For all you in wind and rain - we woke up to 22 below zero windchill - high of 14 today.

Holy crap that's cold

I will know by Friday the reults of all the testing.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you will find the answers that you are seeking!

Oh - the other thing I was going to comment on this morning was the awesome "find" Dawn! That's great! In our area we have a thing called Freecycle. It's a yahoo group/list - where people who have perfectly good stuff that they don't want/need can offer it up for free. And if there's something you need/want you can post a request too. It's amazing some of the stuff people get rid of. Definitely worth checking to see if there is one in your area. Just go to www.freecycle.org and you can search to see if there is a network in your area!!!:thumbsup2

Kat - you have my sympathies with the migraine. Those are so not fun. Hopefully the docs can get the meds straightened out so that you don't have to endure them anymore. Stress = eating. I think it is one of life's cruelest jokes. Feel bad - shove food in your mouth and you will feel better. Makes no sense to me either. Hang in there. Things are starting to come back to normal so the stress levels will go down soon. Until then, there is always hockey.

Dawn - the info on the trainer is so good. Jesse and I were talking last night about how he has to pick up a few more clients to replace some that he is losing and he was looking for info on sales tactics, etc. I pretty much recapped how far I have come and how it pretty much is due to him and told him to use that as a selling technique. As I said last night, it was scary enough to walk through the doors of the gym and just get to the cardio machines. It was even scarier to attempt the circuit machines, but the truly terrifying part came the first time I was training with him and we walked out to the free weight area. That was truly unchartered water for me and I was intimidated. Now, I am growing more comfortable at the gym and as Jesse puts it - totally working my program with good weights, good form and good speed. I know I could not be doing what I am doing now if I hadn't hired him to teach me, push me and support my efforts. I still have a long ways to go, but I know that Jesse won't let me fail either (or at least as long as I can pay him). What better sales pitch is there? OK I'll get off my pro training soapbox now. I tend to get a little carried away - sorry.

Hope things work out for you with the docs.

Kat--sorry about the migraine. I have never had one, thankfully, but my mom used to get them and I watched her suffer. So I can only imagine the pain. Hang in there!

Paula--YES on the training. So important. I watch muscle heads at the gym throw around crazy amount of weight, but totally using bad form. :sad2: I feel like saying, "What's the use?"

But as I mentioned the other day, I am going to shake stuff up again and I have decided to go back to my all-boy boot camp class (led by a Bob-like trainer. I need Jillian, but this guy is all I have). I was running on the TM today and 2 guys from the class came over to say hi and chat while I was running. And they really want me back in the class. It is just the 5 guys right now. So it is very BL-esque in that it is one trainer and a small group. And it was a killer work-out. I need to get back into weights and strength. Between training for distance running and then the tri, I just haven't been able to put the time into weights. So, that is where I am going to focus for a while. Since I DON'T live on the BL ranch, I can't do everything that I want to do! I am not going to spend 5 hours a day at the gym.

I need to shake my food up again as well, I think. I have been tracking for what? 6 weeks now or something. And there have been 4 days in 6 weeks that I have gone over my allotment of calories. And again, my loss has stalled.

So it is time to look at all of that again as well.

Frustrating. J seems to understand, though. The other day he said, "I don't understand why you aren't a rail. It should be calories in vs. calories out and you are totally doing that." Such is my lot in life, right?

Hey, guys, thanks! I never thought I'd be so excited about two pounds! But it's really knowing that I am back to losing. :goodvibes

Dawn -yes, diet to prevent diabetes is totally possible, and awesome.

Nick and his points - He's not eating all of them. That has to affect his weight loss. But I am pretty hands off with it. I just kind of ignore him and his huge points. :rotfl:

Kat, so sorry about the migraines. They SUCK.

Nancy, love you and your advanced medical degrees.

Paula, with you about the trainer. That's number two, after DVC. ;)

Kat, why do we turn to food? Well, it's easier than processing every single emotion properly. And it's comfort. So there you go.

That's exactly what Jesse says (although he usually throws in some more colorful, non DIS sanctioned language...)

Yeah on the boot camp!!!! You loved that workout - as killer as it was. That may be just what your body needs to kick yourself off of this plateau.

Liz - I know this may sound crazy, but as much as I want DVC, I am loving my training sessions more. I am still celebrating your 2 pound loss by the way. Very cool!!!! :woohoo:

Steph - I think your hair looks great :)

KAT - I hear you on the 'monthly migraine' - I have a lovely one kicking in right now. Im looking at the computer screen with one eye open and one closed. I hope you feel better soon

Erika- IronGirl is only a 5K (or 10K). Aflac sponsors them all over the country. It's an all woman race. And for 25 dollars you get a tech shirt and finisher's medal. It's my next 5K. I don't expect any PR at this one. it is out at the beach and I believe it is an out and back over the causeway which to me will be a ginormous hill. Should be fun though.

Kat-Hope your migraine gets better!!:goodvibes

Got up early and did shred again today and I may run after dinner. (loving the extra daylight!!) Slight lack of motivation to run, but that is par for the course for me after a long race.

I hate tracking. I was into it early in the challenge but am burnt out on it already. I am still writing stuff down and filling calories in where I can, but am now lacking the motivation to look up calories for stuff I don't know.

Someone PLEASE tell me to stop weighing myself everyday. IDK why I started this again!! Today it showed I gained 6 pounds! :scared1:

Yep. They are an injury waiting to happen

Welcome to my world. :rolleyes1

Things have started to happen though. Working with the trainer and making the tiniest tweaks to my exercise & diet. Slow. Painfully slow. But I am inching - no, millimetering  closer to my goal.

(almost wrote "goat" instead of "goal". :rotfl2: can you guess where my brain is right now? )

Being "on", and working it. In control of your destination. Awesome, isn't it? :yay:

off to drama club. Again. Catch you all later this evening!

Amy - Stop weighing yourself everyday!!!!!

(remember - you asked)

Thanks everyone. I never got migraines either until they switched up my BC last year. I didn't put it together until recently, though. Heck I didn't even realize it was a migraine until about 2 mos ago!!

It has pretty much let go now, thankfully. They are reliably about 24-36 hours.

I am looking forward to my appt tomorrow, and hopefully he can prescribe something to prevent them if the switch in BC doesn't work. I am so for better living through chemistry!!

Kelly, I will let you know what I find out tomorrow! Maybe it could work for you too.

:scared1: I am afraid of the scale right now after my leap off the wagon last night.

Good luck on the 5K!!

 to everyone else. Sorry I haven't commented more, I am just dead tired and trying to catch up at work.
